so today is the uh one of the more interesting I'm not even going to say rivalry matches but this is again this is another huge game for um for Nelissa Smith look I think Nelissa Smith is you can see it's in there and you can all you can see with theist she does some things like at one that she pushed the floor in the last game crossover went Coast to Coast pulled up near the free throw line put up a floater bang like some of the as she hits she's um like no not many other players in the WNBA can hit them but like like it's just it's just is not clicking there's something in there and today she's playing as a team that she has been awful against this season and I mean this every single time Nelissa Smith has faced off against her girlfriend she has played like barely like not I will say not even a barely possible she has played like the worst player in the WNBA and while D Carrington has stepped up to lock down Caitlin Clark two out of three times like if you want to look as far as game logs go Nelissa Smith has been horrendous not only that D J Carrington got into it with Erica wheeler and in the one of the games it was either first or second game and she basically tried to get in get physical with her own team teammate instead of defending her own teammate which is like that is as much of conflict of interest as I've seen But if you want to look at game logs like Nelissa Smith again she hasn't been good 237 in the last few games and the Seven Points like Nelissa Smith is four for 18 like that's not good and only one was a two-point or was a three-point shot but first game against contic Five Points SE game second game against Connecticut three points third game against connectic or sorry she had 13 oh In fairness she was actually all right in the first two games three of seven five of 12 it was just that last one then where she had two points one of six and look disinterested Oh I thought that her points were lower I don't know why I don't know why I thought she really underperformed these games I was wrong I'll admit it that I was wrong first game she looked okay but to be fair like this second game against Connecticut was a really good game in general like I do one thing I do remember was did tamy not immediately come into the starting lineup after this game like this was as she was playing her way out of the starting lineup even though she was putting up decent stats but there was this was the game where she came out and then stunk it up at the end of the game that was it it was like she was doing really well I remember vividly she was doing really well sides took her out and then like did not finish that game well at all but this is a big one because look it is it is the Optics like I've I'll admit there that I was fully wrong with that like the Optics of it are that she really underperforms against Carrington and maybe it was just that she was so bad in that third game like that was I will say um that last game was one of the uh the worst ones the worst games i' seen from a fever player all year but at the same time you just you just got to play the same no matter who's on the opposite side of floor and again I think her defend DJ over Erica wheeler when they kind of got into it was not a great look either but at the same time this got to be a big game Nelissa Smith her career is almost her fever career I think is probably going to end and that's probably a good for both parties decision like I think it's a I don't think she'll ever reach her peak in Indiana I don't think Indiana especially with Kon Clark suits so I think that's one of those like better for both party situation and this game will decide even I think if she has a bad game here she's benched whether it's dantas whether it's um like tamy F benley I think that she's probably one game against being benched and look even if it is even if it is like a situation where I think like a brus come out and basically just blamed the coach and said it's a like it's not an eliss issue like it's well that her confidence has just been taken away CU In fairness look Nelis Smith was brilliant well not necessarily brilliant but like was great as a rookie but like very very solid last year everyone thought she was going to be pushing for an Allstar this year but since the break she had that decent game she had a decent game against Phoenix 327 and like plus minus a minus three in a win in a 20 point win plus minus of minus 13 in 10 minutes in a game where you only lost by 10 um and In fairness plus four because she was on the floor with that lineup however there is one kind of Saving Grace for in niss Smith is that the team plays Super well with the lineup of Caitlyn Clark Kelsey Mitchell um Lexi Hull Nelissa Smith aah Boston doesn't matter who they're playing that lineup whenever they're on the floor is super super good so that's going to be their starting lineup they're not going to be playing Katy L samelson I hope everything's all good with Katy L like I know we've been push like most people been pushing for Katy L to go to the bench because of how badly she's been playing but it seems like there might be a reason for that um might be like might be some off score stuff and if it is hopefully all is good with her but yeah for Smith this is a huge one she's got to step up because I do think that Carrington is going to I think she's going to do a good job on Caitlyn here I think K and Clark just has really struggled with d Carrington and I really also think nisith has struggled on Alysa th Alyssa Thomas like she's gonna have a really tough match up like we saw how much she struggled on fee Collier if you everyone struggles on fee but Alysa Thomas has been exceptional all three games and In fairness like Caitlyn Clark has been held to I think she had 10 I won't count the last game against Connecticut as one against her her first game she was not great like she had 20 points was really not great I thought the second game she was okay against um Connecticut funn enough like plus minus is- 18 but like I think she they went to the run without her and then went ahead with her and then took her off for a bunch of minutes it was a really weird one um but then like the last game she had 10 didn't shoot in the second half minus 30 they were down 30 and she got benched for the rest of the game so like this was a very very weird game for K Clark klon Clark hasn't gotten the better of them so it's going to have to be you're gonna have to see Kelsey Mitchell step up you're gonna have to see aiyah Boston you're gonna have to see caon Clark who hasn't stepped up yet against this team you're going to have seen Alissa Smith step up the fever to win this game is going to have to be a lot better and and if you are in Alissa Smith you've got to uh you've got to step up just for your own just for your own sake just for what people are saying just for the perception if Nelissa Smith has a poor game stats-wise cool but if we see elisma fighting for every rebound pushing the floor working hard giving it her all I don't think anyone will really be going too far much against her but if she looks disinterested like she had did the last game against the this team it's not going to be great for you know for her perception but hopefully hopefully she can step up and the fever can win
