[Music] you were you came from one of the Dakotas right yeah University of sou Falls University of sou Falls y South Dakota South Dakota okay yeah that was directly before lyndenwood that was yep directly before lyonwood did you go to school there did you no I didn't I had really had no connection there I was I was actually friends with the former head coach who's now the head coach at Alabama so oh so kayin dbor I followed kayin dor at at sou fall so he was the head coach there and then okay and I was at a I was at Mid-American Nazarene in OA Kansas so we Kaylin and I got to know each other just both being head coaches we were both inia programs at that time and and then uh we just we just kind of got to know each other we were at a convention at the at the coach of the Year banquet and we sat at the same table we got got to get know each other and then when he left he kind of threw my name to the athletic director because I had I was just leaving unlb in Vegas and um and so I was kind of I had just taken the Missouri Central Missouri D coordinator job after UNLV were you a coordinator at UNLV no I was a linebacker coach there and then so I was really I just took him the job at Central Missouri and that's when Sue Falls called and offered me their head coaching job so I went up there for uh what seven or eight years and then lywood called and how's life in Falls it's awesome it's a great place to live yeah it's a it's kind of a little hidden you know it's kind of a hidden secret a lot of people don't know you I never think to go there I mean no it's like it's on the Eastern side of the state you know Mount Rushmore and everything's on the western side so you more of your tourist stuff is over there with the black hills and yeah and um the battlands and Mount Rushmore but sou Falls is a a booming uh a booming town as far as uh what's booming there man corporate headquar we got you know City Bank has headquarters there I mean it's it's uh you know oh yeah you know now that you mentioned that I have seen that address on you look at stuff and I was in the insurance industry and yeah yeah that no it's amazing how many because it's such a business friendly State there's no there's no state income tax or so um cost of living is probably a little bit lower I mean everybody just you know the winners are not great I mean sure I can't imag 12 below 15 blows when the wind chill you can hit 40 below and then but you know the the whole I mean the summers are awesome and it's a it just really is a nice town it's a good place to raise a family yeah cool and so you spent seven years there yeah opening comes up for lynen wood hey thanks for watching this episode of the local 636 podcast make sure you hit that subscribe button and turn on your notifications Bell so you get notified when all the newest episodes come out also be sure to follow us on socials our Facebook and Instagram is local. 636 and go to local gear like this beautiful KD Trail shirt we've got hats t-shirts sweatshirts and much more all at local 636.3 at sou Falls because we moved up um so this is my third transition yeah I remember hearing that so we we went from Ni to D2 at sou Falls and everything was going good I mean we were uh when sou Falls called me we had we were preparing for our second round of the playoff off so I'd heard of the coaching change here I mean it just made social media and football scoop and and uh and Missouri Western also opened up so in backtack days I got two phone calls from each athletic director so I had to kind of decide between Missouri Western and and Lenwood what made you choose Lindenwood well I tell you because at the time I you know it was uh um both athletic directors there you know I wanted to bring my whole staff I was I wouldn't say I had all tomats but I felt like you know I've got a great job at I don't have to leave and I just uh I said I really want to bring my strength coach and uh both ads were trying to figure out how they could make that work and um because I was really leaning toward Missouri Western at first because they were in the MIAA I was a little bit more familiar with them lyonwood was as well but they had had they had had some success in division too they had indoor facility they had we used to live in Kansas City so I felt like I was leaning that way but then as I got to know at the time Brad Walker our athletic director him and I kind of hit it off and and then when he called and said hey we've got it figured out we're going to create a position for your strength coach and Missouri Western was still they're wanting me to use some of my my salary pool my assistant coaches to help offset that which would have kind of cut into everybody's pay and then here lywood steps up and says no we're gonna we're gonna we need to create a new position anyway and that kind of made it a clear choice that you know it's uh had you visited St Charles at all or had you been to St Charles yeah because when I was coaching at Mid America we were in the same conference with lyonwood so I we had played three years in a row being in the same league when they were in AIA and uh so I'd been over here and we were always so impressed when we came over to play because what a facility even back then the facilities were wonderful so I already knew in my head number one how great of location St Charles was but so the the campus and the facilities there yeah and uh and they've just gotten better since you've been here absolutely yeah which is a testament I think to not only the university but the program too right I mean typically when when there's success in one area it's going to bleed over into the other area um and so entering now second year in division one we've got Kansas on the schedule yeah so we're entering year three that's what I said year three right yeah so finished year two and and yeah Kansas is on the schedule and that was uh so we had to wait to you know that's part of the the the rule RS and stipulations like when you move up um you know there's some you're technically like in a probationary period yeah you can't yeah you can't play a D1 school um for until you're for two years or until you're fully funded uh orse it doesn't count for them it's it's not so you gota you gotta have you got to be at the the right uh scholarship Max is that I was say is that just to get the right kind of player mix in and make sure everyone yeah it's it's it's just a rule like so if a if you I mean they could if we weren't at our 80% of our 63 scholarships or more so the minimum is 80% um then it doesn't count as a win and so uh so we had to get up to those to that criteria before we could get a division one game and that's you know a guarantee uh money game yeah and so um you know so we were able to get to that that uh scholarship to where we could play play Kansas does Kansas seek you out do you seek Kansas out do you kind of throw cast a wide net of saying here's who we'd like to play how does that work well it works um you know Jason our athletic director has got a big hand in helping schedule um I'm a little bit involved with that too um the Kansas game now Lance La we we've known each other a really long time we we we're decent friends and at our Mega camp that we have here that Kansas always comes to we first started talking about when we moved up and we were on the field just talking during the camp and you know I just kind of said you know man keep us in mind if you guys ever have an opening they had another game schedule there was some things that that team wanted to get out of so a lot of things had to work for that to happen and and and then we were able to to pull that off that's so cool yeah but we've got we've you know every year now we've got you know we've got a we play Miami of Ohio next year we play uh um Eastern Michigan we've got Minnesota in 28 I think we're 29 we go back to Kansas I think in 28 and uh and we're talking to Oklahoma State you know for a future I don't know yeah that's 2030 I don't know what the heck I mean I'm I don't know how old I am right now but uh you know it's funny but it goes fast you never know you feel like it's so far out there but oh yeah all our eyes are on just prep for Kansas right now what's the yeah so let's talk about that what's the mindset what's the what's the talk with the team going into that because we all know what this is right Kansas pays you guys to come in from their perspective this is a w they're coming in they want to beat up on you guys what's your mentality how are you talking to the players about that so you know we're six practices in and and you know the first first quarter of fall Camp you're just kind of getting your guys back your installation of your offense your defense and kind of getting your depth chart set we're talking a little bit about we'll do some situations and practice that we that are game like and everything and then you know kind of moving forward we scrim we have a scrimmage this Saturday and that kind of helps us set where we feel like our depth charts are and then going into next week is when we really start to kind of focus on game planning the things that we feel like um but in the offseason as a coaching staff we've really kind of laid out you know you know what are the things I've made a lot of phone calls to a lot of coaches that have played in these types of games um you know I I know I I happen to know Jerry Moore a little bit he was the he was the coach of Appalachian State when they beat Michigan so you know even even before I've had op you know two years ago I remember when we were playing up from D2 to an to a onea or FCS game I remember talking to Coach Moore a little bit about uh you know what was their thought process like what you know you know they just kind of spoke into it every day like every summer it's like hey why not us why not us yeah now you watch that game you go back a lot of things have to happen that Michigan didn't do there was a lot of misfires there's a lot you got to have you know you've got to hit on all cylinders and and they've got to kind of have a bad day Michigan kind of had a bad day but I think it shocked them so much that they were hanging around so our strategy I think first of all you you you have to first um and I did speak to our team about this the other day you know uh really in any game you go into like you have to respect your opponent so if you're if you're a wide receiver going against the DB or if you're a DB going against your wide receiver you know you can you know pound your chest and just say I'm going to prove that I'm as good as you or if it's like you know no I'm going to respect the fact that he's probably faster than I am so how do I defend a guy you know that I know is already faster than me or do you want to try to press up on him and show that you're a no that probably gets you beat so I think it's you know youve got to have a reality of understanding these are power Five Guys you're not so accept that and just say okay what are what are some things that we can do to maximize our opportunities and you can't in games like that you do have to play I always tell our team you can never play a perfect football game you're gonna make mistakes but you got to play as perfect as you can in a game like that and you can't you really can't U squander away opportunities um you know uh turnovers you know cheap touchdowns you know like you know Mis cues that that turn into points because you you know you've got to take every Advantage when you got the ball what kind of team is Linden wood gonna be are you are we run first or we pass first so we we're just we've at the end of the year if you kind of count up all of our pass run plays we're we we're always hovering right around 50% run to pass I mean it's kind of a you know our identity all the years now my offensive coordinator and I Dusty Hava we've been together for 14 years we were together at sou Falls and so to Total we've been together for 14 years so we we've always been a run first uh offense even though if you come to our games we sling the ball do deep and we do but a lot of that our most successful offenses we've ever had is we've always had a really good run game and that and that's you know it's it's cliched everybody says it but you know the Run sets up the pass your play action your bootlegs things like that so we love to take shots we love to take you we like to be explosive but you know ideally we still want to have that identity of being a being being able to to run the football and and get to know second and six second and five uh you know off of a run play first down um you know so but we're pretty balanced but you know we're uh sometimes we look like we're a passing offense it does I mean you the games that I saw you came up with some big pass plays you've got some athletes um and so yeah you're right but the Run opens that up yeah of course yeah and last year was probably more different just because of our you know about mid year just our injury issues last year we we you know we ended up having 23 surgeries at the end of the season we were really depleted um so the second half of our season we we really had to pass the ball we passed the ball more than we've ever passed because you kind of had to we you know we lost our first and SEC second team quarterback to injuries so we were kind of down to to our third and fourth team one was a true freshman that we had to kind of play a few games uh to still keep his redirt we couldn't go over four games but we were when you get to that position it was almost just like you know it's not really ideally what we want to do so we were we were having to sling the ball around a little bit more and try to create some big plays and and uh you know this year we hope with the depth that we've been able to to bring in and and being a year older you know I think upfront offensive line wise it's probably one of the better o lines we've had um in a long time so I'm really EXC and we've got some good depth behind it to because we lost a lot of offensive lineman last year to injury and so we were kind of we were starting to get a little depleted cool so we got Kansas that's another thing we've got some other non-conference game but let's get into the conference schedule this year um what's your outlook like what are you guys hoping to do what do you think you'll do yeah so you know I kind of always look at you know we we felt like you know when this decision was made to move to that move up to division onea or FCS you know we we really just had to kind of lay out a you basically lay out a fouryear plan I mean you got because you have to convert you know D2 team over to a D1 team and that's you know it's like a whole roster turnover it's a whole roster turnover and you you know you want to try to do it without you know you know just cutting a bunch of guys and bringing I'm not a real heavy transfer portal we don't recruit a ton off the transfer portal we still recruit a lot of high school development so you know our first year we we started off S and three our first year um and that was uh you know we had a couple conference wins and we felt like okay but that was with a very veteran team we had a veteran quarterback back Kade Brer a four-year starter for us so he was a very veteran season guy that that's was a big Key to Our Success that first year and then last year of course we had a lot of new new quarterback had first year playing you know and so um now that we've assess two years in our conference you know you start to really get a feel of like okay you know these are the teams that I feel like I expect us to be competitive like we we should feel like we should win you know we feel like we're we're matched up well and then you always have a couple teams in in your league that you know have been more established for a longer time and you realize okay maybe we're not quite there yet so you know you just kind of take one one game at a time but the it's really you've got to take advantage of those games or you really feel like okay we you know we're evenly matched here we you know these are games we feel like we should win should be competitive in and then uh but you know like I said I think we're you know we're we're still young we're a very young football team um but we're starting to match up size better um in the trenches you know we're starting to look bigger uh like I tell people we're starting to look like some of the guys we're playing against you know that kind of helps a little bit well you guys do look cool I don't size or whatever but the uniforms are cool like I don't know if kids get excited about that but like the all black is really cool looking uh the atmosphere along with the tailgate thanks to Don over here just the atmosphere around the whole game is so much fun um again from the tailgate to the to the walkin the stadium to the layout and the size of the stadium it's not too big right but that means it's packed most of the time yeah H what what is that like being at home playing in front of those people doing the tailgate like does that does that give you an edge well first of all yeah with and and Don Don didn't want to come on camera he didn't want to come on camera so we're gonna shout him we're gonna interlace some Boll of Don so I think the investment that the school has made in like you know Don's a prime example of like how instrumental that is into our game day environment um we've totally revolutionized our our our tailgating yeah not we they have it's it's it's one and our team will leave the team dinner and they walk we do our team walk after our pregame meal and walk right through the tailgate you know the bands there you the cheerleaders are there and it's and the crowd it's it's it's created that and it it's such a helpful thing first of all just the energy of our players but you know every game we have you know 20 to 50 um game day visits of high school kids that are coming to watch and so when when when you have all your potential recruits lined up and they're seeing this pregame tailgate atmosphere and then going into the game I mean it's it's it's huge it's not just uh it's so beneficial for us too even in the recruiting aspect of and even how much did the facilities help I mean obviously you want to go to a program that's a good program and a good coach and someone that you like and trust but I mean the facilities are just beautiful no so you know obviously official visits and kids coming to your campus to visit I mean you know there's I always say there's boxes you know kids are always wanting to check a box it's kind of like where's the location where's the what's the campus look like what's the athletic facils what's the dorms the co and when and you know from previous places where I've been you always had a really you had a really out recruit those boxes it's like man our facilities our school really isn't that great so we but we got great over here yeah and you know when you drive on to Lynwood's campus and you can sit there and check off I mean the moment you drive on the campus it's like okay that box checked it's yeah um you know go you know start walking through our facilities okay that box check um you know it really makes for a really easier pitch to recruit kids you know because yeah you've already got those boxes check or maybe you can just focus on football or or whatever because you don't have to try to overcome those things absolutely yeah uh you mentioned transfer portal I was going to bring that up but it seems like is that is it not do you not mess with it because at the level you're at it just doesn't happen a whole lot or would you it's just philosophical I mean you have um now we still I mean we recruited 15 kids off the portal at over at midy year last last before spring semester before spring football because we had to it'll probably be the only year that we bring that many transfers in because you know part well and part of that turnover you know you kind of have a lot of those D2 kids that were hit in um graduation or you know yes there were some kids that we had to help kind of move on to other divisions who plays places where they could they were just getting to a point where they weren't going to be able to play here so we felt like last year was the year that we needed to kind of have a quicker injection of experience um you know some depth and and guys that have played at this level so we did and uh but we still stuck to our ideals of character the type of kids that we're bringing in here I think that's key in recruiting is is there's a lot of kids on the transfer portal some are in there for specific reasons some guys are in there just because they're stockpiled behind other players they just want to get so I think as long as you're you're you're kind of meeting the culture goals of your program by who you bring in the program and that's why it's amazing how our team accepted that um 15 new faces how they they've quickly jelled into our program because if you know the chemistry of our team right now is just outstanding I think and and that's usually sometimes uh uh takes a little while when you bring that many new faces in so no it's it's more philosophical we still but we still assigned a a class of 25 kids in our 20 uh 4 class we're you know we're we're we're about to uh we've got several commitments out of our 25 class already so we're going to still heavily recruit High School I still believe in high school recruitment development bringing them because I think that really helps build that culture and then we always will fill in the cracks with you know if we need have a needed linebacker if we have a need at corner if we have a need at running back we can you know we'll still recruit the transfer portal but we're just not going to build our whole fundamental recruiting class around it yeah does nil come into play at your level star at all yeah it does I mean I I think you're not hearing those stories of uh you know the kids you know these power fives that are making this ungodly amount of money to come there they're not getting cars and stuff but I mean would it be me they have they have opportunities to we have kids that have N Deals um um so yes I mean but we're not there are some division one daa or FCS the sub below FBS um there are several programs now um that are you know it's it's coming our way as far as paying kids to come I mean I I I'll be honest with you I I just tell kids um up front right away like you know if you want to uh you know if they ask about you know how much can you pay me to come play here it's like you know hey here's the reality we're you know we're paying you we're giving you full ride scholarship you've got yeah you've got some other little perks along the way but we're not GNA you know because there's enough kids out there still want to play football sure um but it's coming it's coming everything rolls downhill I would think that that would be more something more like a a local small business having a player do an endorsement deal car dealership a sandwich shop or something like that I wouldn't think that it's like hey me to come play it's things like that like they you know we have a several of our kids that'll have their own little uh like a clothing line for their okay and we have lot of guys that have kind of started their own clothing line they can sell stuff on or they you know we've had spokesman before for people that have other clothing lines you know I always think of Dylan we had a big defensive tackle uh not a couple years ago and he he uh you wouldn't think he was a golfer Ian he was a d linan looked like he had a mullet yeah he had these cool clothes on all the time and here he was kind of endorsing somebody back home like the their their golf clothing and chudy always looked good in it but you just wouldn't he wasn't like he was standing there looking like Jordan spe you know he like a de it was a 300 lb D tackle but hey it worked for him he was getting a little bit so you know you have some of those uh you have some of those type deals does that ever get in the way I mean of someone playing or would it ever interfere with something scheduling wise or they're spending too much time on it or too worried about it not that we've noticed you know I I can't speak to you know I don't know just because we haven't really had anything like that that's ever caused a distraction um you know it's kind of their own downtime or anything like that yeah um and uh and I think we you know we we wouldn't really allow that to be a distraction I mean I think you know we're still going to be that's what I'm saying I'm when all this started happening coaches were panicking you know how are we going to adjust with this new transfer portal and all these things I I remember telling our staff you know we're we're just going to kind of stay in our own lane you know we're going to kind of do the things I think you have to adjust with the way college football changes but I you know I haven't seen that kind of effect where all of a sudden we're not getting the right kind of players so you know we're we're still kind of staying in our lane kind of doing the things that we do we offer like I said I'm not you know I always find it hard like if you're you know coaches right now that are using uh like let's say they want to go get this top receiver and the in the recruiting process they're like well we'll pay you this much a month and the rest of your team sees that you're like Advocate hey they're going after this recruit but we've been here for three years what have you done for us yeah so I've always said to every player and every recruit like we we've got the apparatus we've got um College you know we've got uh ni companies that will help you we have we have all the apparatus to help you get it going all you got to do is come let us know we'll hook you up they they take it from there they get you set up so every kid has opportunity to come in and say Hey I want to do this because I think it's a slippery slope you know the moment you pay that kid now that now I think very much so you just open up a can now now the quarterback saying well you just pay this receiver you pay me so right now there's so many kids that are great football players that are still dying to just come play football at our level I think I do think it's a major you know talking to kayn just a little bit at Alabama I mean his whole world changed from Washington to sure it's a you know he he says you know I we recruit kids and then there's a group of dudes that figure out the money to pay that kid he he doesn't it's just a whole different world you know from a kid that came from from they've got another like another position at Alabama that figures out pretty pretty much it's you have so many staff members and you know I don't want to you know he didn't specifically tell me like but it yeah like you said there's so many hand there's you have so much um departments now in major college football because of the money because the med so much money yeah so yeah anymore just in general in power five football I mean you have I mean you got lawyers involv you got accountants I mean you got people that have to understand you know how do these how do these nli deals uh N Deals work you know how you know and so it's you you just don't go and watch film and go to the field and and practice football anymore there's so much more that that comes with that have you checked out the latest video game I assume lyndenwood has a team on there that's accessible you know I don't know I'm I'm still at my age I was still Atari and and uh and maybe some Techo B probably but uh but anyway it's a Manny's live for this Manny are you gaming you know the deal it's a no tank or uh you know dig duug and all those things but you know toally talking about dating yourself but um so I need to ask the guys I I know that the new football came out I honestly don't know if uh I should know that I don't know if yeah I should have looked it up before I don't know um maybe producer Don can look that up is is lynen wood can you play with a dynasty have check it out in ncaa2 it's a good question because I mean how cool I mean you know because the it was gone away the whole Ed O Bandon Charles the lawsuit which I think is right I mean I think if you're going to use a name in likeness I think they should be compensated somewhat you know I think um but how cool would it be to be a you know a lywood player and you pull up your team and there your there's your name on the back of your jersey and yeah that'd be really cool you know my my stance uh which had no we all go to a convention every year it's the afca Coaches convention and that's where you have a lot of subcommittees you have a lot of you know I remember I was used to be on a rules committee and you have all these different committees and that's really where the rules Come From okay and the policies come from so like if the ncaa's talking about you know really the in uh ILS came from lawsuits you know came from things like that and finally they had a people doing it anyway right and they finally just said you know through lawsuits like well a kid should be able to get paid for that so my opinion my voice is small it nobody cared about it but the only issue I've always said is I've always thought you know the reality is I feel like money should be distributed to a team I think the hard part is is that you know you got five have really big great offensive linemen up there protecting these multi-million dollar future quarterbacks opening holes for these running backs that for these receivers catching balls and that's what the fans like to see they like to see the quarterback throw it to the wide receiver and then they buy their jerseys they're not buying number 66s but if number 66 ain't good that kid ain't good so the the the hard part is is you see these you know when do you ever see the the left tackle getting yeah I mean unless they're a St unless it's a an Orlando Pace or someone like that you know usually the left tackle is a pretty high profile guy anymore but you know because they're usually drafted first and first round and stuff but I think that's what's always been hard for me is just as a um you know and and I'm not really a distribution of you know kind of goes against probably what you know I'm more of a conservative type guy like hey you work hard you get your money but it is hard uh because you know some positions don't really aren't in a they do their job the crowd doesn't see it the media doesn't ever talk about it but man they are highly instrumental in the success of a team like where you know where does that money go you know so I always thought you know when when we were paying players and all this stuff like there should be Revenue share that comes from you know these players are out there entertaining you know people are watching you know markets television market the money um but you know you divide that up by you know everybody gets piece of the pie yeah I don't know I I kind of thought that that be something well it's a slip like you said it's a slippery slope and who knows where we're going to be in 10 years it's probably going to be I can see it being redone and maybe going back to the old ways I think this is not inside information there I this is I'm just kind of calling it it's been it's been speculated for a long time but I think where you're seeing major college meaning power four now yeah with you know the pack two but the power four um you're basically this this is eventually going to move to just a little miniature NFL you know I think I think you're just going to see one major conference there's going to be kind of like divisions you're going to see I don't even know if the NCAA will even be involved with it I think it's and then that's going to really the the ncaaa football as we see it today is basically going to become your mid- Majors your group of fives and maybe your F FCS teams now yeah because it's just um you know uh it started to happen when you started seeing these you know east west coast team being in an East got it's ridiculous that Stanford is in the ACC what are we and that's that's the initial start to uh well it's just going to eventually become a you know a miniature NFL yeah um with playoffs with the whole thing I think I think it's going that way fairly quickly let's go the opposite direction let's talk High School football yes how's high school football spend a lot of time recruiting oh yeah like through St Charles High West through the other high schools here absolutely you know of course how most recently you know with the success how's had we've got um um you know I really you know I'm excited about U I'm a codville resident too you know so um you know my daughter went to H Central and I love you know um and so we we get out to uh love what Malik's doing over there at France House Central because he's building a culture and a vision yeah to get raising a bar and you get to see a lot of these schools um and I really we've made a real priority to recruit locally first so you know we're I think last time I looked on our roster I think you know we're you know probably 60 55 to 60% of our team is probably within an hour of wi really so we with St Louis with St Charles um you know and surrounding you know it's it's a it's a big priority for us that we recruit home base first you know um but yeah I love football in St Charles I mean it's um you know and we've you know we've got uh I'm I'm kind of thinking in my head kind of why I'm stuttering around just picturing you know all the St Charles County kids that are that are on our team do you get an opportunity to go to those games or is that do you have to send someone do you have to no we yeah we go out so is there red tape with you going to the game can you just show up no there is a little some of the red tape rules is like you know division two was uh one set of rules division one is you have uh you get so many contact days or or evaluations so okay you have you get a big chunk of evaluations um and every time a coach goes to a game or let's say three coaches go to a game you use three evaluations so you can't just go to a game to watch a game right you got to you let your compliance officer know okay I'm going to the uh I'm going to how how versus how Central game okay so that counts as an evaluation um you know and so they kind of okay you got one down and but we send on Friday games that we're at home every Friday night we're scattered all over the place so you'll have each coach kind of has an area uh that they recruit and yeah most of the time you kind of look at your prospects that you're recruiting or maybe the kids you've offered and those are kind of the places that you go uh to keep an eye and let the kids know that you're really it's more about the kids see that you're there we're still it's hard to evaluate a kid really in a live football game you know we're still watching off film and things like that but once they've been evaluated and they feel like they're a prospect for us then the next thing is just support them go let them know we're they're watching them and I love I love High School football so then does it matter like say that k a say that kid has a bad game I mean I mean is that not as much of a big deal because you've got the tape you've already kind of offered You' already have seen what he plays like no it to be honestly that that that that kind of happens by position I I mean I think you know I remember when I was coaching up in sou Falls we had a uh we had a we had a had a quarterback that uh we were high on high school quarterback and we we uh we we uh decided you know I want to go see him live yeah um because I wanted to see kind of what happens in the adversity you know you watch a film and highlights they put all their best plays on so yeah it was interesting because I was watching this play and there was an interception and I kind of watched them go the sideline and I was kind of watching how his interaction on the sideline was and it was funny because one the statistician that was pacing back and forth he noticed he knew who I was so he kind of walked up and on a timeout and he was taking stats for the high school and he he says so who you who you looking at of course I said the three names I was looking at but when I brought that kid's name up the quarterback he goes huh and I went what's that mean what what do you mean huh you know he goes well I'm I'm kind of surprised and I said well tell me about it he goes well you know I drive the bus you know I'm the bus driver too and I take stats and he goes I just sometimes I'm amazed like how he talks to the coaches and everything positive or negative negatively because I was already I've already seen him throw his helmet you know after after an interception and so I'm thinking okay this is supposed to be the potential leader of our whole team not just the offensive your team goes as your quarterback goes so there's instances where you look at a quarterback you look at a field goal kicker under pressure for the most part you're watching o linan d linan receivers you've watched film you kind of see what they do if a receiver drops a ball I'm not going to go like cross off the list everybody drops the ball yeah but if he drops the ball and goes out goes over and kicks the throws the helmet throws the helmet that's a huge deal I think that's what we are kind of looking for yeah um you know we still watch a lot of football games the kids will send you a highlight we get highlights off a huddle but we still want to go find a game and we kind of want to watch their bad plays too cuz highlights have just turned into every great I can go back to you know I can make a great highlight video right now you just go find your 10 best plays you know it's like hey he's really good you know but uh so yeah it so it does it does um you know those are some especially those specific positions I want to see kind of uh how a kid handles adversity you know especially if you're going to be a quarterback if you're going to be a receiver yeah um you know in a leadership type position you know that's key uh I want to wrap up with some information and I'm not sure if you have maybe you do do you have information I'm looking at down over here Don my I want and we can we can we can pause and edit stuff in but yeah want to give information on how to get tickets where to find the schedule um yeah all that all that stuff um we can we can cut you out you don't need to be if you don't want to be but can you tell us where it is and we can regurgitate it yeah okay go ahead well yeah I mean I I think I know on our on our Lenwood you know Lenwood lions.com you can can get to our schedule and everything and then I think it's SL tickets you know L you know but you have yeah l.com and you can is it fair to say you can generally walk up and buy tickets too or they are we selling out games so it's depend you know your Simo coming to town this year be hard it be could be sold out you know the reg more Regional games but for the most part people can walk up and and still get tickets I think your re reserve seating now the chairbacks and everything are getting those go fairly quickly you want to get out and get those kind of tickets general admission uh yes you can still walk up and and and and show up but uh some of your Regional ones like seo's kind of a rival um Eastern Illinois has become you know some of those close by you get a lot of fans traveling yeah uh you know we've had we've had a few close but yeah they'd still be able to get tickets but yeah it's a Lenwood lions.com and there is a there's a link there to to tickets and all the information for tailgating and everything you got something Angel no uh the the game day experience I want to look at the camera because I want to tell people the game day experience the just so much fun from the tailgate to going into the stadium to the actual game The in-game Experience uh I mean it's that coming down like the coach is saying you know it's just an amazing experience just to be part of that yeah and you know my daughter's went to Lyon so there you go there you go so you have DJ sometimes there's live music right there are themed tailgates like you guys do the um oh what's the Halloween one I'm sorry the dark carnival yeah there's like family day yeah I'm putting you guys on the spots s the point is it's every every it's awesome it's a great experience being at the game is fun uh it's a place where you can bring kids uh it's a place where they won't get bored there's so much there's so much going on bouncy houses I mean the whole I've seen car I've seen uh had little Ferris wheels up there I mean shoot there's H yeah got all kinds of fun stuff yeah so if you're
