i lost my daughter i lost my daughter it was tyrell's uh mom and tyrone had no place to go so i i took him in he lived with me and last time i talked to him was that that day before he committed suicide [Music] i really miss him man like i really do every day i go and see him in his grave over there and just talk with him you know tell him how my day's going and stuff and it makes me feel better he must have did something that he didn't think he was gonna come back from like that's all i can think of you know i i missed him i missed him i missed my uh i miss my grandson when when i lost tyrell i promise i promise today you know my goal is to get a skateboard park [Music] so here we are we're at it's called the slab it was burnt down by somebody and you know here we are it really means a lot to us you know because this was uh tyrell's favorite spot you know what i mean like every day he lived across the road for me come to my house real early in the morning let's go skate bro let's go skate [Music] at the beginning when when tyrell first passed away in 2019 we had a little skateboarding event to help raise money to maybe pay for his tombstone or whether whatever the cause might be and we just thought hey let's just keep growing and hopefully we can get a nicer skate park for the community keep kids busy when i started skateboarding in 2009 a lot of my friends were always like having issues with going going through the wrong path and i was always at the skate park trying to progress and learn new tricks so i was always busy skateboarding so i never had the time to go experience what all my other friends were doing if it was like bad stuff then i wasn't there i was always at the skate park and um i think i i turned up pretty decent so like let's say people that had issues like tyrell would have had a nice skate park to be at all the time then maybe he would have been so busy at the skate park and who knows what what what might have happened right so if if we can get any other kids on board with that kind of system keep the keep the mind occupied keeps the keeps the devil away i guess if i look at it skateboarding kind of saved my life that's something you've you've always wanted to see here yeah i always wanted to see a skate park um i would have to say when i started about 20 years ago it was so big it was so big that all my friends that i joined they all skateboarded because there was no social media we didn't have all that stuff back then and if you wanted to talk to any people we'd have to come to the skate park and because that was the spot to be everybody would come around and every day all day and yeah yeah for years we never got to experience the park and now we travel like you know like all we've skated probably like all the skate parks in the province and what would it mean to you to see this skate park built man i have no idea it would mean so much to me and so much to others in this community because what it would mean like the world like times two like that's what it means to us this skate park you know it's just more than a skate park yeah it's like a safe place you know people come to online when you know you can't let your anger out you know like people this is like a spot where like where people can't fit in and it doesn't matter who you are how you act you know like if you're cool with us you like to skate sure you can come around i love this space i come here as much as i can
