After Israel attack, Northeast Ohio school districts warn students away from social media

And schools across Northeast Ohio are warning parents to watch your kids social media use during this ongoing war. The concern is Hamas circulating vi videos of hostages on platforms like tiktok, Instagram and youtube Shaker Heights. Schools asked parents to monitor their children's access to social media to protect them from those images. Uh Beechwood schools went further saying in a letter to parents, Children should not view those images and there is no reliable way to avoid being exposed to them other than deleting your child's social media accounts. Mandel Jewish Day School told parents in an email, these videos reportedly involve hostages, pleading for their lives as well as other horrific displays of cruelty. These videos would be very traumatic for young viewers. Solon city schools had a similar message adding many of our families are experiencing trauma and fear and students may be struggling with understanding terrorism and the horror of this situation that has unfolded over the past few days. Now, many of these schools and districts included links offering support to parents to know how they can talk to their Children about the violence. We've included those links in our story on Wkyc dot com. And I also talked to the group that prompted many of these schools to send out today's warning we'll hear from them coming up in the news at six.
