what's up y'all it's your boy sha P back again with another edition of Hip Hop Round Table reviews I just wanted to catch up um on a few picks that um few album picks that I didn't get to review recently I'm gonna start doing this I'm just gonna start doing something called Quick Picks where I'm just gonna give a quick tape on some recent albums that dropped within the last two or three weeks that came out um first I'm G to start with the album that dropped about three weeks ago two or three weeks ago it's Big Sean's album uh better me than you um I just pull up the pull up the video um screen real quick so I could share track list all right okay so um yeah better me than you um I'll give this I gotta be honest with you um I was disappointed by this album um I would give it maybe a 6.5 to a seven out of 10 I really thought this was the album that Big Sea was gonna really you know take to the next level and take his game up a notch to really be in that big big three conversation and um it kind of um um disappointed me with how it was um couple of tracks I like I like iconic I like the I like the song with Gunner that's actually a good vibe record um I like the song with uh cash coine another good vibe record and also I like uh I love together forever with Alchemist um there a couple of my my my cool tracks I like on there but overall the album kind of was a Miss he was a little bit he was a little bit too introspective and talking about his life his married life it was kind of boring you know what I mean I I wanted more of more Venom from Sean as far as um some some lyrical energy really to come out there and it really didn't impress me that much um it could have been better A lot better and uh given the success of the Detroit too and how good that was it was really a step back in in the wrong direction so I would give this about 6.5 to seven out of 10 mid record um if you want to check it out you gonna like some songs on here some good vibe records on here couple of songs where he where ref flexes a little bit you know on the lyrical end not topnotch lyricism but you spit some bars on here not bad just a okay record 6.5 out of 10 I checked that out um the next pick that I had came out a week ago um and this record is from uh Conway to machine and Ransom um chaos is my ladder U let me pull that up real quick for y'all and um yeah so this record I'm feeling with this this record I'm feeling this I give this a strong eight um with Room to Grow I I think um the replay value on this record is gon to be much better as it goes on now this is classic East Coast boom bap street street record um 10 strong Cuts Ransom really comes with a lyricism uh in my opinion Ransom is the best Lyricist in the game today he reminds me me of a a a harder edgier darker Street version version of Jay reminds me a lot of Jay I would say um 98 to 2003 real gritty um a lot of bar bragado doio and a lot of but just deeper I mean he has a song on here just just off the rip I just say Limitless is hard to me um also Commandments check out the the the high killer with uh with Lloyd Banks that's fire and nefarious might be be the the the hardest one man where it's like he's having a conversation with god or the devil or maybe both I don't know you got to hear this um Conway brings it too I think Ransom outshines him a little bit on this but still um strong record um 10 strong Cuts if you're in the street definitely check this out I'll give this a strong eight maybe pushing to a 8.5 with a replay value um it's probably gonna make my top 10 this year you know what I mean right now if I had to um take a look at it but definitely definitely Two Fire records I definitely check uh uh well one fire record and one mid really um and just as a as a sum up like this year is just kind of really boring as far as hip-hop is concerned outside the the the beef or what have you I mean excuse me as a get some water but I would only I only think really I mean uh I probably say maybe only about uh six or seven records really caught my ear this year um I would probably say the LL one that I reviewed this morning caught my ear maybe Joiner Lucas um the Cole project was one of them um you could throw in Auditorium one with Pete Rock and common but other than that it's really been a dry year hip-hop wise I'm I'm waiting for some big uh projects coming up it looks like the the new clips um albums getting a lot of Buzz to come up but other than that it's kind of been a mid year hip-hop wise but I don't know what y'all think but um we're gonna be back with more reviews uh I just wanted to give you my Quick Picks big Shawn better me than you 6.5 to a seven about and um chaos is my lad Ransom and um Conway definitely check that out that's a strong eight out of 10 I'll definitely check those records out so with that um y'all enjoy the rest of your Saturday evening and um I'll be back with some uh new reviews coming up pretty soon we got some interesting hipop top topics and debates coming up this week too I'm trying to link up with uh funeral men or and some on on some debates this week so stay tuned for that and um I'll check y'all out soon all right peace
