we here to talk Bulls man I mean listen I'm I'm trying to delay the inevitable because you know it is what it is when we get to the end of this episode but the Chicago was talking about Black Friday deals the Bulls got an early one in signing uh T Horton Tucker to hey what thing I've had to do in the week you've been out I had to work on my segue game bro the Segways have been on point the last week my brother have been on point bro um but uh they get tht to a partially guaranteed deal this was reported by Shams um now the reason why this is interesting Pat is that tht uh well the Bulls had no open roster spots now they could create one by erot btim we'll talk about that more in the second segment but when you look at just tht as the player that he is a three uh three and D player in some ways like but then he's a guy who likes to play small forward but he's guard size like what do you think about tht the player is from the crib by the way what do you think about tht I well listen you knew from the crib the Bulls were going to be all in on him um but but as far as a a three and D player uh you kind of feel like he's uh who who was that that cou was talking about that one had on Sadiq Bay a little bit when it comes to a three and D player right he's a he's a six foot four guard that basically is more of a forward who can't really guard forwards and struggles at guarding guards and can't shoot the three you know I mean but at the end of the day the one thing about tht that you can say is that when he was given consistent minutes he was able to give you solid role player numbers 10 points per game which is something that can be a contribution off of the bench if you can get him to lock in defensively and put him in a position where he's going to be more comfortable I think that tht can be more solid defensively I think the Bulls need more defensive help and so this isn't a bad signing in that way but you do have to put him in very specific spot you can't just go out there and say hey tht go play center right hey tht go guard that point guard that's also your height um and I think there's a ton of upside with a player like this there's no there's no downside to me to signing ton Horton Tucker outside of the fact that like you said we'll talk about um you you're basically GNA have to probably remove somebody from the team and who will that be um but when you talk about adding a guy who's 10 points a game right now probably ends up getting more of a consistent role with the bulls um as far as being on the floor and you add in the the uh the ability to in theory defend off of the bench this isn't a this isn't a downside move at all for the Chicago Bulls I like the signing yeah I agree with you it's it's it's a it's it's a solid signing now this could end up just being there's one of a couple of different ways to this you know what I'm getting to off we'll get into that in a second segment but THC just as a player he's a 29% three-point shooter but there's been times where he shot the ball cons solidly from three he's a 42% career shooter from the field so it's not like he's an over overly efficient player at that as well but you're not signing him to be featured you're signing him to be a debt piece and I tell you what I have more faith in him than Javon Carter at this point yeah honestly I mean yeah the Bulls are guard heavy but I think ultimately when you look at THC still a player that's 23 years old and something that we've seen much like the Kenny Lofton Jr signing this is still a young guy who has been in the NBA since 2019 te 20 but if you get lucky and you say Hey you can round out some of your game here or we you can polish off some of it this is the time to take those chances at people when you when you've gone younger and you're just trying to see what sticks yeah and it I think that's what that's what I like about this move is and and I like about the theme of the Bulls off season it has been let's take a chance on guys people have given up on right let's take a chance on young guys that people have basically said we don't really see a role for you in this league um and and we're okay letting you walk let's see if we can find a gem in that guess what those that's what guys like Alice kuso were um that's what guys a a lot of these G League guys who have come up right who have been told no multiple times um but when given opportunity and and I mean heck you look at a guy even like Jaylen Smith right like you added Jaylen Smith to this team Jaylen Smith has been somebody who's always been the big man that basically was told we got another guy but every time he was given more minutes he was able to produce he was able to play well so I think when you add that in um to kind of the theme of this offseason they're looking for a gem I'm not mad at this because guess what you need you need a gem you need another guy that can be a consistent guy that maybe the rest of the league has turned their back on and these guys are all guys that we have talked about on locked on Bulls before and said go out and get this guy we've had the should the Bulls trade for tht conversation we've had the should the Bulls sign Kenny Lofton Jr conversation we've had the should the Bulls sign Jaylen Smith conversation when you have those conversations you see them going out and trying to get all those guys in one offseason I think that's a good move by the Bulls overall take chances on guys low risk High reward and see what sticks yeah I mean and that's what you got to do at a time like this like this is the time where I know that the Bulls are hoping that one of these young guys step up in a in a major way and then maybe maybe you're you don't fall down as much as some people think but at the end of the day like this this is your time to take a take a shout out a lot of guys bring in some young players that maybe you wouldn't have brought in before whereas like for example I look at this similarly to last year the Bulls bringing in Derrick favers but that was a veteran piece right but this is now a young guy who even if he does end up on your g-league team you're still taking a shot at something that they could become and I'm not mad at that with where the B Bulls currently are like it's different when you're a team for the 30y old guys you're trying to compete and you're pushing to make the playoffs and not to say the Bulls don't ultimately if they can they want to make the playoffs this year but at the end of the day like you don't have to try to make those moves anymore that are just that are just focused on that you can take some opportunities at some guys and tht isn't like he's not a terrible player like for for what he is I I do think you know averaging getting 20 minutes per game and getting 10 points like that's solid regardless of how you get those points that's solid from a [ __ ] production Road and if you can bring that to any team you you can find Value in that yeah and I think I think that's that's what's exciting about moves like this right it is the unknown of these young guys it's you know every time these guys I think here's the thing about tht to right now defensively I don't know what he's going to bring if Billy Donovan plays him how I expect Billy Donovan to play him but when given more minutes tht was able to give you more production when given more minutes tht was able to hit different shots and you would assume that he's worked on his game in his time but with the Utah Jazz last year not a bad game had a hot stretch there if I'm not mistaken I think there was like a stretch we were like yo like thht is a name I would love to see on the Bulls and at 23 years old you're not in a bad position with them like I said so uh I think that this is this is a good signing maybe it helps you uh uh with your bench depth a little bit anything to see less Leroy Carter I'm in favor that's a fact bro like we just got to keep pushing Leroy down and down that depth chart I like I know the Bulls would never wave a player like that while they have guaranteed money because you got to e well you can't just well if you wave them you got to pay them all their money or and he's not going to reach a buyout because with his production last year ain't nobody giving him the money that the Bulls what because I think is like little under $6 million think is is Leroy's contract it's crazy bro we got we got Robb ridic we got Robb it's absolutely ridiculous it's crazy bro for all for him to wear mismatch shoes and shoot they're going to get a little bit of extra money doing that what do you think about that part I think that first of all that's a that's a great Theory by you um but I I wonder what the relationship with clutch is like I think that clutch's beef with the Chicago Bulls wasn't so much clutch forward or it wasn't so much the Bulls as it was the beef with what the media was putting out there about Zack LaVine so I I don't know if there's beef with clutch I don't know if there's some issues with clutch um but I think that listen doing uh uh an a what what is the word it's not a member doing a representative of clutch Sports uh a solid is definitely a way to stay in their good graces and at the end of the day you know signing tht with with a partially guaranteed deal here I mean like you're you're basically saying this guy's G to be on this team or at least he's going to get his money in this you know we're willing to work with you we're willing to do good business with you I think it's a good Rel relationship move like you said um the part that makes it tough though is that like like we said you you probably they didn't have a roster spot open so you're op you're opting to go with somebody who is not been a part of your team not been a part of what you've already built to bring him into the building because I doubt that this would be a camp deal um to basically move on from somebody that you've spent time working with and developing yeah uh I mean and we'll and we'll see there like do you what do you think there's a chance cuz it will will just come down unless there's a trade made do you think that this comes down to erop versus tht and who brings It Best in training camp or do you think maybe this could be a precursor to maybe the Bulls think that a move could be made here before the start of not I'm not saying Zack LaVine or any major move but do you think maybe uh maybe uh Tory Craig or somebody could be on the move before the start of the season I think this is a move to put on notice to all of the guys who have questions on their name hey we're looking for the best of the best and if you're not that guy you won't be a part of this team moving forward cuz there are a lot of low- money guys that we have on this team right you look at guys like d Terry you look at guys like Julian Phillips you look at guys like you I mean like the Bulls have brought in competition this is no longer a hey you just get to be on this team because we want you on this team this is a hey you gotta sometimes you got to pop out and show hoopers you know what I mean like I would say any body who is that end of the bench or just a rotation guy like ton Horton Tucker is a solid rotational piece he's not a question mark he's an NBA player so so you got to prove that you are at a minimum an NBA player to make this team and guess what I've got some questions on some of this guys on whether they're NBA players or not I like un UPA team I want to see him make this team I think that he's one of those guys that could be that diamond in the rough type of player but you know he had to get acclimated over here he wasn't getting acclimated quickly enough and then of course the the Rea injury plays into that and stuff like that but hey you got to you got to hit the ground running this season uh I think about a guy like Julian Phillips who yeah you missed time with injury guess what uh tht has been somebody who for the most part he's missed some time but it's it's kind of been you know that that that time that we've said all right if you play 60 65 games you I mean like I'm okay with with you making that move there or I'm okay with you being on the team because that's basically a full season in the modern NBA he's been a guy who's been a hold hold on real quick Pat cuz uh this this isn't the old school locked on word of God first of all you should be ashamed of yourself for having a sub role player uh's jersey in your in your Avy that that's the thing that you waste your time exactly like that first of all you're Los wait a minute wait a minute hay wait a minute this is Javon Carter it definitely is Javon Carter bro come on now or Chris Duarte step your game up Dal you want an upgrade from Julian Phillips although he don't have the size of Julian Phillips but you know like jumping ability and stuff like that tht like I I think that this is the Bulls putting pressure on their guys saying your jobs ain't guaranteed my boy and we got to change some things up around here and I actually like that yeah so yeah I mean I agree I think ultimately like in Camp you want you want to bring competition and THC as you said he's not a fringe guy he's not a guy who's been H around the G League he's been productive at the NBA level to an extent not great but he's he's been productive and so if you're a guy on the back end of the bench that you're fighting for your spot and there's a guy who's actually been in a spot and been and averaged 20 minutes per game at at an NBA level that puts a little bit of extra pressure and a little bit extra work on you in training camp and you know for what we're talking about developing and seeing what you have in guys sometimes you got to turn the heat up and that's if that's what the Bulls are doing I'm not mad at it at all I I'm glad to finally see them doing this right it just there was so many guys on this team that it did just feel like hey like he's got a job because we got nobody else to go to like literally we were signing guys and we would go if we see this guy in a game we're in trouble and then we see that guy in the game you know what I mean like that's that's literally what we would end up dealing with all of last season so I think that this is the these are good moves by the Chicago Bulls I like these moves and and I think that these are moves that to me speak to hey we're trying to change the culture that we have around here we have to be better how over of all time or something like that like like well like we can see you like but yeah man we've we've gone through so much on this show man I mean y'all have watched my daughter grow up uh y'all watch that that one naked guy behind [Laughter] me if you if you don't know the context of that that sounds wild that sounds wild wild do oh God what a great Moment On Lock hey bro that was an amazing second season the four First full season we were doing the show that was an up and down season waiting on Lonzo ball to come back which he never did and maybe the pat Beverly run we actually went to a game over that time period as well that's true that's true the pat Bev run was solid that's probably one of the best because we were heading toward the playoffs too yeah the pat Bev run was solid and y'all this right now I'm going to be hosting lockon bull solo going forward nobody will take path of designer spot there's a couple of different motivations for that one there's nobody I can have the chemistry that I have with Pat the designer that's just not going to happen and a little bit selfishly in the back of my head just admitting to this to you guys and I'm told this to Pat so it's not a surprise if Pat is ever able to come back in a year or so after the baby gets old I don't want to have to fire anybody because I will like the moment Pat hits the call it's like I'm back I'm going to be looking at the new call it's like um it's it's I'm sorry uh so just to avoid avoid that uh that part of it we're just G to host this solo go I'm going to host the solo going forward and we'll see
