in 1955 while living in Tucson Arizona the sensitive introspective boy discovered a comforting sense of belonging while singing in church as well as with the Tucson Boys Choir but it was in junior high in Montgomery Alabama that 12-year-old John duch and dorf's life was changed forever when he was asked to play guitar and sing for the class all of a sudden people were saying hello to me in the halls and uh had some friends and everything like that
