welcome to Tallahassee Florida and do Campbell Stadium home to some great highman Trophy winners legendary coaches and today the seol war chant will be rocking this place this match up today part of the lifeblood of the sport a rivalry game where the results will be remembered for a lifetime as we'll see a squad from the SEC the for Gators taking on the 11th rank team in the land the Florida state seminal glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it up and the seminal will kick it away to start us off he'll start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 so the Florida Gator offense takes the field to start this game off the sunshine state is so rich in Talent the players have known each other in many cases for a long time and that brings the intensity to a fever pitch and they do not like each other Reese three of the four years that I was a part of this rivalry game there were bench clearing brawls in the middle of the field before opening kickoff this game just feels different this crowd going to try to make life miserable for these guys to the air it's Ms using the quick game and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down and on the slant route I love the location of the throw by the quarterback he's not making it difficult on his receiver he's putting the football out in front hitting his Receiver right in the face mask and making it easy for him he'll come out throwing on first down and boy was that pressure in his face immediately down he goes and it's such an advantage for this defense to have an outside linebacker like that that can rush the passer because they can set the edge they can get off the ball and they're just way too fast for tight ends or for offensive tackles to get out and block they'll snap it from the 25 here on second and long the hand off to Johnson nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the car when you play defensive end it's all about getting off the football you can tell gets off the football really fast Gets In The Back Field gets the running back before he knows what hit him what a play by the defensive end and whatever they did on first and second down don't do that anymore third and very long coming up grabbed in the back field it's Badger really strong job by the defense a negative play on third down we're trying to throw the screen out to the receiver the defense though having none of that they are just too physical they're too fast they force a negative play the gator send out the punt unit getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter no return coming he'll call for the fair catch so Florida State's offense will go to work for the first time today as we take a look at our impact players for this one what do you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays and they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football it's just not easy to bring this guy down is it he is so dangerous once he gets the ball in his hands and it makes me think back to Old great seminal running backs like War Dunn Travis Miner a guy that I used to play against uh how about dvin cook even just guys that could make the first guy Miss and then they were able to just explode and burst and take at the distance this guy right here he is a unique talent One Step W twostep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground seols were able to squeak out a close one the last time they saw the Gators and in that game the seals just made more plays it reminded me of back in 1998 when we lost up in Tallahassee and that essentially knocked us out of the national championship picture that's the impact these games have in this rivalry running back searching for a hole they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I love when you start bringing linebackers up near the line of scrim scage and you start sending them because those guys have serious speed they can come catch anybody up and down the line of scrimmage the linebacker you could tell he had a good clue what was going on he knew it was a run play fired pulled the trigger came downhill and attacked the running back shakes off a tackle they stop him after a short game probably just wanted to mitigate the losses with fourth down coming and the nolles will punt this one [Music] away a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work the gator sending the offense back to work that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attacked them guys you might know Florida state was once a women's college didn't start playing football until later and in fact didn't start playing the Gators until 1958 even though they haven't been playing a long time this game has featured so many of the biggest names in the sport you think about Bobby bout and Steve Springer on the sidelines Charlie Ward Chris wanky Tim TBO Danny worle Heisman Trophy winners this game has had it all really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end does a chance to run a little and and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards got it behind the line it's Johnson and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play really good job by the defense being disciplined they sneak the running back out you see it keep outside leverage and go make us tack in space on a guy that's used to Breaking tackles used to making plays they'll give it to Johnson he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there forc the TF even if they don't convert picking up a few would give them a decision to make on fourth down is third and long from the 45 tight end getting vertical and he'll ramble to the 34 before he's finally knocked down man that quarterback knew that was a tiny window to throw into and he just showed off his Cannon of an arm and Ne Gators have this offense rolling from the shotgun now here's an inside G squeezes out a couple of yards down to the 32 know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up after picking up a couple it's second and eight out of the gun the running back has it defense there to stop it after a gain of three but he is inside the 30 to the 29 coming to the line looking for that first down on Third and short from the 29 dropping back it's Ms firing to the right complete and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down down big third down there for the quarterback and he knew where his best chance was at getting that first he found the curl rout made an accurate throw and as a result the offense stays on the field the Gators will have it first and 10 from the gun give on the inside he's there to make the stop but not before he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now he's doing some damage on this defense I'll tell you I love the play call on first down here you're just trying to find an easy completion and the shortest throw on the field for the quarterback is finding your biggest Target and that's the tight end nice job see if they can get it done on second and goal free snap Motion in the back field quarterback flips it ahead quickly to the receiver and he'll be brought down I like offenses being creative I'm not sure if that was the best place to call that play I think this offense needs to think about just doing things a little bit more by the book they've got a lot of good Playmakers you don't have to reinvent the wheel this early in the game you can't hear yourself self think on Third and goal from the gun wants to pass fires into the end zone and it's caught touchdown Gators and it feels good to land that first big punch against a rival doesn't it no doubt in a game like this too you just want to be executing at a high level early so David that's got to feel great getting on the board first and settles everyone down all the nerves all the emotion of this rivalry game now every body can kind of settle in cuz you know you already got a touchdown on the board lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finish it up with a three yd scoring toss lining up to cover the kick at after that touchdown Drive the returner will field it and try to do some business didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field here's the handoff they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's amazing how play by a defensive end in the back field can really swing the momentum not only of a series but of a game sometimes all you're trying to do is create negative plays to get them behind the sticks a little bit to get those sacks to get those tackles for a losses you see so much stunting in college football up front with the defensive line because you know once you get one of those plays you got the offense right when you want that may not look like a huge run but they'll take it as it gets him up to the 24 just a simple power play power football be strong be big be physical make it a fourth quarter game make him feel you keep him off balance after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down caught over the middle it's Douglas he's going to have enough to pick up the first down as they stop him at the 33 yd line he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good reys at seeing the holes in the zone knowing your in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on Third and Sh he make the stop but a good pick up there on first down well a nice Gainer on that running back screen now how about the offensive line getting downfield and getting blocks really help out the back find some space to go to work looking at a second and short now little touch pass to the receiver finds a little space big big gain on that one as he Steeps out of bounds with a first down and this receiver is so dangerous there's so many different ways that he can hurt a defense you got to throw it to him conventionally but find creative ways to get him the football out in space and let him go to work the seol are marching down the field oh it's a reverse that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five great discipline by the backside of the defense this is my Gap this is where I'm supposed to be ball goes away so be it I got to stay home stays home makes a great play for a loss we' come to the end of the quarter and it's Florida on top we put one in the books Let's have a look at our game [Music] summary and they've swapped into the field and we'll get it going in the second and here comes play number six of the drive looking for a man it's aangal the throw to the outside is complete he almost pick up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short yeah and he runs a quick out route and this is a timing route quarterback has to trust him throw him the football you can tell they thrown this a time or two nice job nice success the seals have moved it inside the 20 on Third and short they keep it on the ground here he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and a great job by the linebacker you could tell starting to crowd the line of scrimmage get up there in the line of scrimmage see it diagnose it get in the back field get the running back on the ground for the tackle for the loss no movement from the field goal unit the offense is out there to try to keep this drive alive on fourth down and the seols will move the sticks with the first down got to love the physicality of fourth down in short you know what's coming they hand the football off to the running back no secret but he's plays physical Gets behind his pads and gets the first down the nolles will snap it on First and 10 hand off from the Gun Works his way down to the 10yd line after a pickup of three operating in the Red Zone here on second down down they've got him looking run but they're going to throw it caught near the sticks it's Benson touchdown 7even and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them and what a ni start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense they'll try to attack one more on their [Music] score and it's up and good personal foul nothing to kick defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty and we're all square as he's set to kick it away looking for a productive play on first down they're going to open this drive with a pass quickly out to the tight end how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle he'll do it himself he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple I just love the way the defense prepared each and every week we see this defense come out it's like 11 guys they've got their head in the game and they're playing as one unit they knew it was going to be tough facing this option game with the quarterback in in the running attack but they've just done such a good job so far staying home playing their assignments you saw it on that last play right there rallying to the football nowhere for him to go and creating a big L and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up and listen the defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they are able to cover him throughout the rest of this game from the shotgun they'll run it and sticking to the run I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubborn and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football you can tell got three on first down it's second and seven back to throw it's Ms a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior and listen I know that wasn't a huge gain it was positive but I like doing more of that in today's college football I'm just going to try to give my Playmakers a chance to do damage in space away from all the big boys inside debb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down from the gun wants to pass quick strike complete he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of down we asked earlier this week who's your favorite receiver and of course he said the open one but we know who he really wants to go to on third down the best one I mean I think the open one obviously the politically correct answer but you want to find the guy that you got that great chemistry with you know exactly where he's going to be you got that Bond and that trust and the defense snows him under after a very short game the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys that's caught it's Wilson and good coverage by the defense just a short game this quarterback right now is in Groove and he's doing a nice job in prap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Wi on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and wings it incomplete yeah and third and short that choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board now on fourth down here comes the field goal team looks as if this will be a 51 yd attempt split the U it's good and with that field goal they now have the lead well that just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with [Music] ease so there lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down and he passes on the Touchback here he comes he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the Touchback the simol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming takes the hand off it's to aili they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one you know defensively you live by the Blitz and you die by the blitz that time they dialed it up in into the Run play the linebacker able to make a nice tackle didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 the give to the single back slams into the pile he'll get one to the 17 I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off looking to pass it's aangal and the sack all the way back at the five that's not Lamar jackon back there scrambling around this is a guy the defense felt like if we can get him out of the pocket and flush him we can get after him and chase him bring him down and they did that one pretty easy there getting the sack the seols will send out the punt unit three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball sometimes avoiding disaster is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense man how comforting is it to know that even if your offense stalls out a little Jesse that field goal kicker can knock it in from the long way out well he's one of the best in the country Reese no doubt but this offense would like him and prefer for him to kick an extra point on this drive and to do that David they've got to have more Rhythm on out yeah create some more Rhythm create some more explosive plays and maybe some more balance and listen it's nice to have that weapon and kick long field goals you kick too many field goals you don't get very many W's spits it out to the back caught near the sticks it's Johnson brought down at the 32 ydd line picks up 15 yds on the play and an important first down fresh set of downs after the [Music] completion they'll run it from the gun just couldn't get away from the tackle well they're trying to run the football there just nowhere to go they got dominated up front at the point of attack got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 wants to throw it's MERS and he really needed to hold on to that one but it was not loose and third down is coming hey man if you're going to force incompletions with the QB's thrown at the tight end you better be physical nice job with the hit forcing that incompletion better find me ear pluged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down from the gun wants to pass fires to the big fella and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop well we knew coming into this one the tight end was a big part of this offense you've seen it early in this game they moved him around they've thrown it to him in a lot of different ways defense is going to have to make some adjustments trying to stop this guy and on fourth down they'll try to put oh it's [Music] blocked guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that put your the defense in a bad spot you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable at that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 wide receiver now comes in motion quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep and a nice solid pick up there before the defense r wrestles him through the ground well and on these little push passes timing is so important you're trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David he puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get them out of his SP ripping off a pretty good chunck of yardage they've got it out to the 41 with a first down well there's a great example of the receiver working back to his quarterback on the curl route against man coverage he drives back towards the football makes the catch and gets the first down and the simal have it with a first and 10 looking to throw it's Ang looking down the middle a strike downfield he'll work his way down to the 28 nice catch there I'll tell you the seminal passing attack has come a long way over the years when I was playing against the back in the day they were in the eye formation every single play maybe it was play action maybe it was a shot play to the perimeter of the field now they've got guys running all different kinds of routes playing at different tempos lining up ball over the field this dude is a guy you just have to know where he is every single snap and the nolles are moving quickly down the field they try to pop a run on the draw all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw that ball was nearly intercepted they'll live to tell about it third down coming up oh and on defense you just got to be able to finish that play that Defender had the football in his hands he's just got to catch it that should have been an interception third and long coming from the 27 yd line you can make a field goal from here just don't take a negative play from the gun wants to pass wide open downfield and he's brought down after a nice game I love the job the quarterback does surveying the defense there great job pre- snap recognition understanding the coverage he goes to his curl route gets the completion and picks up the first from the 14 yd line it's first and 10 they're in the red zone and they'll pass it and that one's going to be over everybody's headed incomplete well even though that was an incompletion I wouldn't be surprised if this secondary wants to start playing deeper coverages cuz this offense has shown that they're willing to be aggressive they've got a lot of speed this defense cannot allow any big plays here in the second half going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he's got it and still on his feet and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play the these guys are called matchup guys they're not the biggest guys on the field but they're going to win short and they're going to catch the ball and they're going to make yards after the catch you can tell those are the type of guys in college football that are starting to get maximized and used a lot more than they were in the past he's got it and he will score touchdown no quarterback's abilities to read the field is huge and also the anticipation the time to be able to throw the football Jesse and hit a guy in stride so he can get run after the catch and get in the end zone that was a nice job by the quarterback yeah it's critical David listen a lot of times touchdown passes aren't thrown into the end zone you got to read the coverage hit the open guy and let him do the rest they'll try to add another to their [Music] lead and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead they put together a 7 foury touchdown drive and they finish things off with an 8- yd toss for the score so they got the touchdown and as they kick off really important for the defense to shut them down here on the run from inside of zone five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the gator sending the offense back to work so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the moment put them in their favor dang right there's no time to be conservative we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense that they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now that we can build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into halftime R On Target this time and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pickup nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success Here Comes This Home crowd as a defense tries to get off the field on third down quickly complete a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half the gator come to the line with a fresh set of downs he's looking to throw it makes his connection here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half and I love when my quarterback see Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy completion got it in the middle it's Wilson the offense calls timeout and they won't have any more left this half well the defense did a nice job taking everything away down the field but once the drag route was caught they just couldn't rally to the ball carrier and time to make a tackle and as a result new set of downs they sto him just a link or two short of the first and man what they can do on second down here I love the QB here he holds it he holds it he holds it just long enough to let the receiver run the drag route and then he puts it out in front of him so he can catch it on the run in stride and then turn up field to use his speed we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin coners in our halftime update all right gentlemen seldom do the rational turn irrational the way they do when these two teams and fan bases get together in the sunshine Showdown toughest job inside that Stadium right now might just be the scoreboard operator after all those first downs and touchdowns big plays have to find this one thanks to two of the best receiving core in all of college football let's see if these defenses can adjust and make the necessary chess moves with that let's throw it back to the guys to see how the battle between Florida State and Florida plays out and he takes this from inside the five and the returner will be knocked down the simol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming they had this lead to start the third quarter because of the passing game didn't get a lot done on the ground they did but the quarterback is in a rhythm that was obvious in the first half and so this first drive you want to continue that you want to see good decision making you want to see him playing on time and as always delivering the football I mean I don't know how I don't give him the football it's the reason I built the lead he's the guy that I can trust this offense is built around him so I expect more of the same here in the second half to the air it's aangal going to to try to pop one on the screen he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down I tell you what if you want to be overzealous if you want to be a Blitzer all the time I like running the screen right behind him did a great job throwing the screen almost broke this one for a long game but it just keeps the defense a little bit more honest if you want to start bringing a lot of pressure he'll try to pop the draw and he was able to run through a tack and they finally get him but not until he picks up the first down well there we go we finally see some life in this offense running the football nice game to pick up the first down you got to get more of that going moving forward cuz they have not run it well they've got it first and 10 from the 25 he's going to pass coming after him hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 couldn't connect on first down now back to the air throws to the wide out complete downfield and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play nothing too surprising about seeing the seols being productive in the passing game man we can think back re to so many great offenses for Florida State whether it's Charlie Woodard or Chris winky whoever it is the trigger man being really really good is the start of a great Florida State t one step WRA two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this booth David if I were allowed to put have Push passes when I was playing quarterback I tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead moving around side draws and screens are a great way to slow down really aggressive pass rushers it allows the defensive ends and the defensive tackles to run up field the offensive lineman to push him up field go down to the next level try to sneak in a big playt wants to throw on third catch in the middle it's Morlock he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of downs had they not picked up that first down it would have been decision time for the head coach right you're kind of in no man's land on the fridge are you trying a long field goal are you going for it on fourth down but because of the execution there and the nice throw let's keep this drive going let's see if we can get six looking to go up top on first down fires to the wide out they've avoided the interception all day but they're lucky to get that one back here late it'll be second down well a great job in coverage on the back end by the defense you just got to finish the play that should have been a pick after the misfire now on second down wide out in motion they'll run it he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple sometimes you wonder if Rivals really don't like each other this guy sure doesn't like anybody on the other side he's tackling everybody and that's the kind of Defender I want the guys who don't like people they love collisions they love to throw their body around Jesse he's been all over the field and this guy's good week in week out right but in this game he just seems like he's more dialed in and he's playing at and the defense picked up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 great job up front on this pass rush defense in a dime Personnel grouping they've got 6bs on the field they're expecting pass so they're going to have to win with four guys and they're 4-1 they got the job done the seols will try to pin them back with the punt and the ball will bounce at the four and find its way into the end zone for a Touchback Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down and there's so much for a quarterback to think about stick it out in the belly do I pull it now when I pull it oh I got to get my feet set make an accurate throw to the right guy so a lot of things going on and I think you saw that led to a little bit of inaccuracy after that last incompletion here's second and 10 from their own 20 the give from the gun and it'll be a pick up of nine they're facing a third and one and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run great job finishing with his pants ball spoted at the 29 here they come on Third and short to the ground to try to pick up the first he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs that is how it's done on third down at Short no doubt about it an easy hole to get through and clearly get the first down if you really want to simplify football the low man wins that time the offense got the better of the D easily picked that up and the gator come to the line with a new new set of downs they'll see if they can find some Running Room on the right here what a good run there he has enough for the first down every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be physical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there the Gators are moving quickly down the field scanning the field it's MS unloads to the wide out working the middle and a nice grab there big pick up down to the 35 yd line great job by the offense listen if the defense is going to sit back in zone you know what you got to do run those crossers across the formation those guys that they're looking at the quarterback they're not trying to pick up receivers all the time make those precise throws right in those holes get those first downs get those big chunks some misdirection with the counter a strong tackle and wrap up from the junor here didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense that's what I'm talking about that is how you close and when a guy's going to make a catch you make sure he doesn't make it physicality using your pads running through them and guess what not only this play does he feel it next time he tries to go over the middle or feels footsteps this will pay dividends throws to the wide out can't make the play on the interception and man they were looking for their first pick of the game instead it'll be fourth down really nice third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre- sna to o snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up four now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three right down the boulevard it's good way to bounce back kicker obviously this guy already had a kick clock earlier in the game and he answers by kicking a bomb through the uprights well done [Music] so the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away after putting up a field goal let's see what the defense can do do out of the end zone he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field pulls it in it's Douglas you hate giving up that play if you're the DB on this one because you're playing man coverage you're trying to defend a slant route you've taken the inside away that's where your Leverage is you'll allow anything to happen to the outside you're trying to funnel the receiver to the boundary you just cannot let the receiver beat you to the inside caught in the back field it's Lee and they pick up just a few on that completion defense man it helps you a lot when you can be a linebacker or a corner or some safety anybody and you see the QB throw the football now I can break on the football right away and limit gains like right here on this play facing a third down and short from the 26 off the play fake that one never had a chance incomplete third and short like that on your own side of the field you're just looking for a quick hitter you're trying to get the ball out of your hand quickly but the timing completely off there for the offense and the ball Falls incomplete the seminal will punt it away on fourth down he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight coverage team gets the job done and they'll Mark him down at the 38 yd line the gator sending the offense back to work you want to talk about having a weapon to bail out a drive David that's why kickers are so important after that long field goal and listen important is a relative term we need to make longer passes and get better gains so we don't have to kick long field goals Palmer again on offense and got the weapons to do that David they just got to be able to dial those plays up guys have to be able to make them oneon-one to make life easier on this kicker who is so important to this team and they'll wrestle him to the ground after a short gain it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the three- yd pickup they come to the line second and seven back to throw it's Merz receiver looks it in it's complete they get him down after he makes the catch well the defense playing Zone coverage there they're taking away all the QB's primary options down the field so he has to check it down to the drag running underneath debb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down they'll try to get it through the air finds his tight end the Gators pick up the first down shotgun fundamentals are so key he was like a short stop caught the shotgun snap and right away rifled it out of his hands like he was turning two that was beautiful from inside the 40 at the 37 it's first down going to the running game they'll pick up four second and Six coming when with the running game on first down now back at it quarterback on the keeper nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry great job staying home by the defense there offense trying to go option the QB keeps it but you see the great assignment football everybody staying where they're supposed to be and they're able to Rally to the quarterback and Tackle them for a loss they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here third and long and he'll try to throw for it got him down field what a nice connection knocked down immediately and they've got it at the 25 third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the exes and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my guy's better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you fires to the wide out right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it this guy is doing work on the outside and the sweet cap to stay in Balance there how about the sweet feet I mean it's so hard to know where you're at on the sidelines and have good body control and you could tell he did gets the feet down secures the catch that is a nice catch nice footwork young fell he got it touchdown Florida and with that they've got the lead here in the second half and this receiver is on fire he's got all the skills that you look for in a big time Target and that's already his second touchdown of the [Music] game two-point conversion attempt is on the way looking downfield it's MERS and this will be caught as they convert the two that drive covers 62 yds for the touchdown and they get it into the end zone with a 6-y touchdown pass the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one away on the move from inside is five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 offense getting set for first down hands it off finds some space enough to get five to the 22 no question they wanted to get the ball to their Playmakers and both receivers have come up big through three [Music] one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter finish halfway there on first down it's second and five he's looking to throw feeling some heat and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 sometimes you beat your guy and you get sacked so CL clean and sometimes like on this play the DBS do a great job covering make the QB hold the football and then the rush gets home you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 he's looking downfield to throw catch in the middle it's Williams and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker they allowed the completion but this defense was swarming to keep them away from that first down line yeah and you allow completions in those third down situations underneath the sticks and you come up and rally and everybody flies to the football that's great execution by this defense another punt on the way got to make sure those hammies and glutes all activated don't want any muscle p from overuse Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense and now that cushion is a little bit smaller Jesse and any mistake would get magnified yeah a little bit of pressure now on this offense too David I think they got to go back to their Playmakers and get these guys going in the game no doubt find those plays those plays you know you can run them in your sleep and make sure you execute build this lead a little bit bigger put this thing away in the fourth quarter couldn't make the connection on first down now here on on second back to pass it's MERS pulls it in he's really close to that first down marker but they stop him just a bit short this offense is not letting up guys they've got a lead here late and they are still taking shots they're still looking for explosive plays this defense just has not had an answer here all game long big third down as the crowd Gets behind this defense they'll try to get the first through the air catch open down the middle he's got first down yardage across the 50 they'll mark it at the 49 well this guy's been a go-to guy for this offense all game long we've seen that and here on a critical third down late in the game with the lead guess who shows up with another big one that Oney and the gator getting set on First and 10 the handoff to Johnson Nowhere to Run on that when he loses four on the carry well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the back field and get the tackle for couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 pre snap motion quarterback trying to get a read snagged in the middle it's Badger haul down at the 38 yd line and a big p pick up of 15 yds there I love an offense that wants to stay aggressive even when you've got the lead late in a game like this right you still try to find your Playmakers and get them the ball in space and that is exactly what this offense is doing the Gators are rolling down the field they'll throw it on first down I don't think that's the way they drew it up incomplete [Applause] they're about to run a dirty half dozen plays on this drive moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got bodies and 300 p dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time the pressure got to them and it forced the incompletion better find the earplugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down looking to throw it's MERS they're bringing heat the offense coughs it up once that ball was loose offense didn't have a chance Defenders everywhere it's a turnover dude let's go I'm going to this game was basically over right we just forced a huge play great job by the defense giving their offense a chance now man it look like it was over now we got a chance offense to go down the field stick this thing in the end zone and we can win this ball game still the seol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here con yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out got it in the middle it's Benson and he gets a big tuck of yardage to the 34 y yard line that's why the Bullet Pass is so important sometimes these defenses they don't give you big Windows to throw into you want to take that chance but you cannot lob that football down the field and get it in there nice use of the Bullet Pass my friend maybe this will breathe a little life into this offense which has been flatlined in the second half here's first and 10 and he's brought down after a nice game first down you know you always want to establish the running game how about this offense it's nothing fancy run the football be physical get a big game most important part of a clutch Drive piece together some first downs get in position and here they are on First and 10 holds and fires complete to the right he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense well you're seeing the balance this offense has and how they can create explosive play in a variety of ways we just saw one come in the Run game and now you see one coming in the passing game I'll tell you they've got this defense on their heels and guys if they can somehow some way find their way into the end zone we'll have a tie game in the fourth he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of P defense trying to come up with a stop on second and goal they're going to run it one step WRA two-step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground and that was a nice second down run and setting up third and inches and now it's physical time right like they know you might run the football you know you probably want to run the football how can you be more physical sometimes bring some extra bod some extra tight ends in go to that play that you know is your short yardage play trying to pound it in and he takes it in for the score touchdown Florida State and I love the physicality of this offense it's third and goal it's money time I've got to be more physical than you and that's exactly what this offense just did put the ball on the ground and put it in the inside getting set for the point after and that extra point was good and we are deadlock here in the fourt they marched 56 ydd to the end zone and they closed the deal pushing their way inches into the end zone here comes the kickoff as we are all tied up in the fourth quarter from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the gator sending the offense back to work after that last drive he came back to the sideline and the coach probably said you dropped it you didn't pick it up come on get on the ball David no that's not what he said he said you're doing a great job just keep your head up y yeah he got blasted you got to hold on to the football ball but turnovers to side games those are big plays it's tough on him too cuz he knows he let his offense down on that last drive so you know that guy's eager and anxious to come out here and make a play Let's see what they've got on second down they're going to test the right side with this one and they'll spot it at the 38 and that'll be plenty for the first down all right defense that's that's what we can't do we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those rning backs on the ground that's way too easy it's first and 10 from the 38 yd line caught in the back field it's Wilson and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there oo and that was close for the offense they try to go wide receiver screen they're counting on that receiver beating that Defender wasn't able to make him miss that time but if I'm on offense I'm going back to that play L second down coming up Red Pass it's complete still on his feet at the 45 put it right on him sweet play good pickup and they'll move the change with the first down you know the defense they just haven't been able to find an answer for this guy throughout the course of the game obviously he's got two touchdowns picks up the first down there they've tried doubling them they've tried man coverage Zone coverage nothing works working on defense they can't stop him fires to the big fella nice quick throw there and it's so important for quarterbacks to be able to find a rhythm and to be comfortable and confident we want to just get the ball out quickly make it an accurate and easy throw and you can tell that these two guys they rep that play in practice all the time and it's now showing up here on after the one second and medium they'll give it to Johnson they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one while the linebacker showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of scrimmage and force the TF Out These fans stepping up to help this defense on third down to the air it's Ms and he was hit just as he was releasing the pass and it falls to the ground incomplete got give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your in field goal range what do you do Here and Now on fourth down they will put it on the shoulders of the kicker to save them with his foot it is good and now they take the lead all field goals are not created equal guys kicks in the fourth quarter to take the lead they just seem to carry so much more weight so give that young man man credit for getting out there and knocking that thing through the uprights with all the pressure with all the eyeballs on him he delivered so they were able to put up a three spot on that last drive and now the kickoff team there as they prepare to put boot to leather here he comes with return rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field complete to start this drive they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down and there you see the bind that the RPO play can put a defender in that linebacker had to make a decision was the running back going to get the ball he thought so so he bit up and that allowed the slant to be thrown in behind kept it on the ground on first down see if they stick with that plan on second from the gun they'll try to impose their running game stacked up after gaining a couple to the 23 I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success they decide to run it third and inches coming this is the kind of play where every fiber of your being is tested really nice job to get it past the sticks pick up the first down at the 30 this offense has to get this guy the ball in as many ways as possible he showed you all of his tools on that last play and the seols with the first and 10 looking to move it through the air got him in it's Benson and he goes down after making the grab picked up a few but he's still short of the first down marker I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game now on second down back to pass it's aanga lay all kinds of room to throw that one in there really nice job there by both guys to throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down I know it's something we take for granted guys but the Q did a great job there with the play action fake he really took his time and sold it and that's what froze the linebackers in the second level of the defense to help make that completion a whole lot easier grabbed in the middle it's Douglas and this is the time where I'm a defense I'm slow to get up I'm making sure I stay on that offensive player I'm trying to eat up as much clock and make this offense burn as much clock Palmer as I can and this coaching staff right now you know they're looking at the analytics too right how many timeouts do we have left we want to think about dialing up some play calls that get guys catching the football or get the ball out of bounds to stop the clock you've got a good Rhythm right here you're in a good position of the field to go win this thing but You' got to be really smart with your play calls this late in the game fourth quarter go time we got to make plays we got to go to those things that really really work well we can't waste too many more Downs I know it's third down coming up but we got to put this thing in Full Throttle he'll just keep slinging it and he can't get it off taken down what a huge play this late in the game what a great play by the defense and a play like that in this situation of the game late it's close third down you got to have it and how about the pass rush how about the effort getting to the quarterback trailing by a possession they need to keep the ball they'll try to convert on fourth down makes to grab well past the sticks he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down what a great job outside working that route not only did he get to the sticks to make sure he got the first down but also was able to get himself out of bounds to stop the clock you could not do that any better in a two-minute Situation off play action on first down and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute passing what do I want to do I want to bring more guys that can cover guys on the outside nice job by this defense running the dime package more DBS on the field to match up with all these Speedy wide receivers defense has to be frustrated the offense keeps matriculating and matriculating and matriculating the ball down the field out of the gun the inside give and he slips the first Defender and picks up a handful of yards the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious balls at the 25 they're in field goal range but they love to convert this third and short grabbed over the middle it's TOA the offense takes a timeout with 30 seconds left guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you it's complete touchdown s and inside a minute to go they've got the lead I think one of the most underrated things we talk talked about with the QB is timing being able to get the ball out of his hands to his receiver where he can continue to catch the football and run with it nice pitch nice catch nice play in the fourth quarter when you needed it for this team to take the lead lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the fourth now that they have the lead this kickoff unit has to stay in their Lane create some field position and hand it over to the defense here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Florida has the ball back and here comes the offense they'll start this drive with a pass and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waiting moments that could be a costly play they get the timeout called 11 seconds remaining to play they've got to move quickly here still a chance but they've got to p forc the ball down the field back to throw it's MERS looking to the big tight end makes the grab timeout is called and the clock is down to eight no time to waste here they've got to get set and pick up chunk yardage he wants to throw it he's taking a deep shot makes a catch down the right side they'll bring him down as he B looks up those numbers but not the most important one as they'll come up short in this game [Music] [Applause] [Music]
