Yanni Ronnie East and Casey Ceda I know [Music] welcome back to the mafia cast bills Mafia how we doing today I'm back I'm still an enemy territory though but I am safe uh I I tried to get into the stadium get my hands on a Playbook I got caught I was I was able to outrun Xavier worthy and and escaped with my life so but but you're forgetting to say that Andy Reid is the one that caught you you smell like cheeseburgers yeah yeah well I fortunately I had a pocket of cheeseburgers so I threw those at him to get him away and then uh uh Xavier worthy he did get close but I just gave him a little shoulder bump and he fell over like a like a bowling pin so oh my Gody what's going on my man how you doing hi paparan I'm good I'm glad you're back I'm glad that you're okay in enemy territory I hope you're speaking quietly so the people around you can't hear you in your hotel and you know if I see that those walls tearing down like just like just shoot me a text and let me know what hotel you're at and I'll take care of you I'll get a hold of all right cool I I appreciate you my man yeah uh it's been interesting being over here in in Kansas City uh my wife and I we went to a City Royals game the other day which I we really enjoy going to baseball games they're a lot of fun it's a different vibe than football games uh plus I don't have any skin in the game with either team I don't care it's just a fun game ended up being a six to five final I was kind of hoping for Extra Innings I that would have been a lot of fun uh we did get to see um oh my gosh now I forget the name but something Bobby Bobby Whit Jr got to see him play yeah that was kind of cool home runs double triples it was it was a fun game to be at but um yeah I I have to say this whole experience so I've been to Buffalo a couple times now now to be fair it was during football season both times Bills fans everywhere everybody's wearing Bill's attire there's posters there's Billboards everywhere you look there's Bill stuff we came here I've see maybe four or five people total this whole week dressed in Chiefs gear I saw one poster at the airport um that's about it so I was a little surprised by that someone ask you because you know obviously you and Mike live there is it the same way in the summertime or is everybody still decked out and build stuff is there still bills everywhere yeah like so I mean I don't neither of us live in Buffalo but m i mean Mike's and our and a half away you know hour and 20 minutes outside the stadium I'm about two and a half hours from the stadium even as far as I am like doing door dash for my daily job I to just today I can think of probably 10 people that I saw wearing a Bill's hat or you know a Bill's shirt like it it just I mean and again that's being in the dead center of the state you got Pennsylvania you know two hours away from you you know so Philly Pittsburgh and we're four hours from the city so you still got those two teams um um but even even it's funny going from where I am just to Rochester to like go and hang out with Mike and my sister it's it's amazing how how many more people even in Rochester are decked out in Bill's gear even compared to where I live and then the closer you get to Buffalo like it it it like it's like a gradual incline the closer you get the more and more people you see it and it's and it yeah is it's constant um I guess benefit of the doubt is you know maybe being the time of year they're taking they've taken like the Chiefs people have taken everything down from 2023 and they're about to put up like all the 2024 hype stuff and posters but that's you know that's just cre an an excuse for them they're probably they probably just suck uh yeah like I said I was a little surprised obviously we went to the the Kansas City Royals game there everybody was wearing Royal stuff naturally um and we were oh my gosh where were we um I don't know but I have I'll just show you so this is my phone so everywhere I go people are gonna see that the Bill's logo right if I've got my phone out which is most of the time ask my wife I'm always on my phone Social Media stuff so it's always out there and uh I can't remember where we were but we were talking about the bills and our our our waiter overheard he comes home and he's like did I did I hear that right like please don't spitting our food okay just but uh yeah it's it's been fun it's a cool City I I'll give them that I was just a little surprised with the lack of memorability lack of gear from the people around but um yeah it's a cool little city I wish I had more time to see more stuff here and do more they've got a World War I Museum here which I wish my wife and I could have gone to we didn't have time yeah enough about Kansas City let's let's right into to bills um before Mike I'll answer that question here in just a moment as far as the barbecue goes I I I I do have to mention that but the other so Monday's show Casey you guys were talking about the wide receiver situation um you were talking about the Brandon iuk deal free agent receivers coming in next year and and I commented because I did get a few minutes to listen to you guys live before I had to get off of there but you're of the opinion that the bills will likely use some money next year to go out after one of those Elite receivers is that correct yeah so my response that's the way it's setting up like when we drafted Keon like when we Keon Coleman it seemed to me that okay this seems like a gave Davis replacement you know not just because of you know the play style and body style it just to me like my SE like this my ceiling the ceiling for Keon Coleman in my opinion was the same thing that I had for like Gabe Davis you know he could 12200 yards 10 touchdowns at like in his best year but it'll never like but he's more of like a 900 800 yard receiver you know maybe six eight touchdowns but you know making the those impact plays when you need them and then it seemed to me that okay so between him and then the the I'll say low-key free agent uh wide receiver free agents you they didn't make a splash they signed CT Curtis Samuel for you know it was multiple years it wasn't just like a one-year Pro it deal so to me it seems like okay we're going to see what this team is and exactly what Keon Coleman is this year and then if we and then if we have to because they're not going to have the draft Caple to dra you know next year's top wide receiver you know they're they're just not they're not going to be high enough in the draft in in my opinion I don't think they will be so that means in in order to get one you either have to trade one trade for one or sign one and like you said I don't think that bean wants to give up those draft wants wants to give up draft picks to go out and trade for a wide receiver I think I think he's going to go out and just keep testing the market and he very well could be buying the best receiver that's on the market this year or next year right I'll push back on that only because number one I think the ceiling for Coleman is higher I'm not saying he'll get there I don't know he kind of reminds me a little bit of um I had the name a second ago uh the guy over in Tampa Bay Mike mik EV Mike Evans size doesn't have like that gamebreaking speed or anything in fact when Evans was coming out I there was some of this narrative and I bought into it myself he just doesn't have the the speed and quicks to play at this level and my goodness he's proved me wrong uh a lot of other people but that's kind of the mold I guess that I see Coleman and he does have that kind of potential in my opinion whether he gets there or not is yet to be determined right we have no clue I if the bills go out this season and are successful off L if they're one of the top offenses in football if Josh Allen has a uber productive year like he's had the last four years even with Stefon Diggs I don't see the bills going out spending that kind of money ever again for a receiver however on the flip side of that if all this comes crashing down and we don't and we and and Alan Allen proves that he's or shows that he's not as good as we think he is and he needs that Elite guy then absolutely they'll do that but you know the the optimism biasness in me says that we don't need a guy like that see my not rebuttal but I don't think like to me it's not like it it'll won't have anything to do with Josh Allen it'll just it'll it has it'll have to do with the offense as a as a whole you know if if and basically if the receivers just you know I we know Shakir is going to be able to get open on the underneath routes consistently um but it's being able to get get down the field really and get open that way um and same and then it'll also be the same thing with Keon Coleman now we have uh Curtis Samuel who's gonna do everything he's going to run the ball he's going to get the gadget plays and he's gonna you know burn people downfield and underneath but if it just like if it's clunky if it just doesn't look right and there's you know kind of like what we all thought with kandori last year like we're winning games but like I don't know like it just it just like we all like we on the podcast the three of us had that same we're like we're winning look right it looks hard like it looks really hard and I think if it looks that way again then I don't think I don't think they'll get rid of Joe Brady um I think they'll just go out and be like okay let's just go get that number one receiver because we all know how good Josh is I mean Josh proved how good he is without a number one receiver last year when Diggs was on the team because Diggs didn't play like a number one wi so like it was just like basically say he played as you know even a poor version of Curtis Samuel but so he's not part of it like Josh isn't part of it for me now yes if he goes out and throws for 3,200 yards and 17 touchdowns and I'm going to be like I have a lot of takes to take back but like I there's there's just no there's zero possible chance that it it ends up like that like to where J where you know Josh has to have a dominant number one he he's too good now I I agree 100% agree with that and yeah I think you're right as far as a lot of it will come down to the offense um that said I at this point I just don't want them spending that money on on a leite receiver right now because I just don't think they need to I much rather they use that money on the offensive line defensive line safey corner you know whatever uh and but the the other thing I've seen a lot of people comparing what the bills are doing this year to what the uh the Chiefs have done the last couple years as far as their offense goes to an extent I I I kind of I understand why they're saying that because we don't have an elite number one wide receiver but I will say and this is kind of a Kudos and props to Chiefs honestly what we have as far as the skill positions with James Cook her Samuel Shakir uh even Coleman to me is a better group of weapons than what the Chiefs have had the last two years they really have not had anything and um we just lost Casey I don't know where he went so he'll be back on here but um that's just kind of where I'm at you know we're seeing a lot of Shakir a lot of the highlights uh seen a lot of comments about uh doin concade constantly being open and all of that I T will be back here a minute Mike if you want to jump in here feel free to do so hey Ryan hey what's up why not hey this this is actually a good setup that we've got going on here right keep you keep your company right yeah yeah yeah whatever whatever technical thing he's got going on but yeah I'm sure he'll hop back in here as soon as he gets that fixed but um let's go through some of these comments that we've got popping up over here and the first one there was one of them I wanted to address back here this was from Joey if I can get it to pop up oh which one no Joey hatch they so he said they said we couldn't afford 14 million for Brandon from San Francisco but now they're throwing Devonte Adams in 18 million a year saying we can swing it we can't swing 14 we can't swing 18 I am not going to sit here and claim to be any kind of cap Guru or anything because I'm not I do know we're I think roughly around 11 million in cap space right now I think maybe just under but um I you know if if the if there's a way Brandon me will find it right that that's how I kind of feel about that I think he'll just figure it out and and it'll make that work but again I don't want them to spend this kind of money onon Elite receiver let's see if they can do it first yeah right I'm with you yeah I mean we got to save it you know there's always a chance we could spread it around to um you know and eventually you're going to have to start playing paying players more you know the players you're going to keep around um so yeah I wouldn't say I mean you're just going to go blow it all right now you know he can't he can't do that yeah no I I agree and and the way things are going now we've already got injuries piling up so Buffalo's going to need that money to possibly go out I mean they've already sign two new safeties as a result of some of these injuries and so they need that money and I would like to see them just kind of carry that money over over into next year if they can and you know use it to build up more of the defensive line use it to build up more of the the offensive line and things like that yeah for sure for sure uh another comment here is from John Robert uh Bean May grab a safety in next year's draft I don't know um what do you think about that Mike safety's like deep right now but not because everyone's hurt right yeah well I think and we'll talk about this in a minute but if you've looked at their uh the the the bills depth chart it's their first dep chart of the preseason hasmar Hamlin listed as a number one C ship is number two um I think if Hamin can go out and play at a at a solid you know I'm not going to say a lead or anything like that but play at a high level and then you've got a bishop and you got Taylor rap who I know I believe is on this on a final year of a deal yeah I can't remember if they extended him or not but either way he's still a young player I think they can still bring him back if they wanted to um so yeah I'm not personally I'm not really concerned about this position I think Bishop is the future future there right well it seems you know rap you know is is the one uh kind of you know picking it up and and kind of trying to take the leadership role he's learn this defense um there's a lot of talk about the communication and things like that that uh rap's involved in so he is becoming a key key piece on our defense right as it as it sits right now so definitely a guy you you want to keep around I I'm thinking yeah I think so because everything I've heard that he's been solid in practices and and uh through training camp he's kind of assumed that leadership role of the secondary along with Taran Johnson so I definitely think he's somebody as far as drafting uh safety next year I mean we still got Cole Bishop we got to see what he has but he's he's just a little banged up right now and they got to give us some time right yeah awesome yeah um looks like Casey might be back in here I'm not sure I can see him in the in the studio background there but anyways there he is there he is can you hear us I hate technology all of a sudden everything just went completely still and I was like what is going on I had to turn everything off and all back on again restart everything yeah yeah you got a little technology it's great Beyond frustrating when it doesn't so uh few other comments here also okay well none of our running backs can seem to hold the ball they're all having fumble problems so good luck because if they can't keep the ball we won't be running nothing uh I did hear I think it was today or yesterday that that was an issue I haven't really seen that as an issue throughout training camp though plus this early in this whole process I'm not too concerned about that just yet I mean excuse me Ray Davis put the ball on the carpet I think it was twice yesterday um James Cook you know that we've all seen the reports coming out to where he's still not as consistent as everybody would like him to be catching the football um but you know everybody's pointing at the one drop he had out of these you know 25 catches he's Pro he probably had that same day you know it's just a volume thing for him um I'm I'm not worried about the running backs I'm so excited to see Ray Davis I really am I think he and James Cook are gonna be one hell of a one-two punch uh you bringing that up let me ask you because this is kind of something I we talked a little bit about this I think a couple weeks ago when we were talking about James Cook and his potential of becoming getting into the top five do you see Ray Davis as the a parent to the number one spot and cook not getting a second second deal with Buffalo yep 100% it's I presented this to you guys the second we drafted James Cook and we had Devon single ter and Zach Moss they were doing it cyclically you know they're's they're going to have two running backs and two rookie contracts at all times hoping they're their number one and two running backs so that way they you know it's they're never paying high money for it you know they're play they're playing the budget game they will always have a veteran Ty Johnson in the room with them as running back three you know we saw it last year with latavius Murray and Ty Johnson was still young but they surrounded James Cook with Harris and the tavius Murray I mean that's you can learn everything you ever need to know about football from those three um and like as far as being a running back goes and now we see James Cook you know he it's his third year you know he's not he's not a rookie anymore you know he knows his way around the league he knows what he needs to do and when he needs to do it but yeah I I you don't get second contracts as a running back anymore unless you are generational like Christian mcaffrey Derrik Henry you know saquan Barkley did not get a second contract and he is a damn good running back he was offered a contract he was offered a contract by the Giants but he didn't think he was high enough you know I think I think they gu franchise last year right yeah um so I mean even as good as he he is is and was they still weren't willing to give him the money that yes that the Eagles did end up giving him but he fits better with the Eagles I mean that's a power run know you have AJ Brown Devonte Smith Jaylen Herz and saquin Barkley and Dallas scard like who's going to get the ball you know you you have there's too many people on that offense for a defense to like be able to just narrow in on one or two people to start to slow them down and stop them like you can't do that there's too many people that the ball can go to where it's an actual legit home run just about every time they could touch the football yeah yeah um John asked here in the comments if Ty Johnson has to go on IR who do you think is the next man up my first thought would have been Frank Gore Jr but I as you were talking I was kind of thinking about that as well we just had somebody on the show a couple weeks ago that would be interested in returning 100% it would 100% be the Tav he like you you you know that would be that'd be Bean's first call he still lives in Buffalo you know he's still like he mentioned here he's still working out every day just waiting for them to call you know and I don't know if you remember during that conversation I asked I was like so like are you kind of holding out from having to go to another training camp he kind of beat it around the bush with his answer um so I like you gota you gotta Wonder like if something does ha like there's no doubt in my mind like he he's he did say that Buffalo is where he wants to continue his career so that was pretty cool uh we want to dive into a little bit more of the Bill's death chart there were a couple few spots where I was a little I guess not really surpised R but it the step chart thing all right what you got I brought this a couple days ago and you were pissed that I would not tell you the answer here the question you were pissed so my question is if Stefan Diggs catches that football is he still on this team and do we draft Keon Coleman no he's not on the team yes we still draft him I don't think anything would have changed really I really do think that the bills brass already had a plan uh in place if you will to move on they were ready to do yeah so let me up the ante if the Bills win a Super Bowl is he still on this team that's a little different because I think maybe the I everything yeah I think the the attitude that we don't know what all was happening in the locker room I'm only kind of basing this off of one what we've seen from Diggs and some of his Antics like jumping curbs as you had mentioned after the game uh to listen to a lot of the answers almost to almost every single player this year is commenting about the selflessness of the receiving group the family atmosphere that they're having this year the the energy of the vibe like all of that and I don't know that it's necessarily Diggs at Diggs pun intended or if it's just coincidental but I really do think that for whatever reason he was bringing that energy down I think he is so so Uber competitive that people that it was creating a negative vibe um and it's weird to say that somebody can be that competitive that it affects everybody in a negative way around them but well when you think but when you think and hon quite honestly you are by far the best receiver on your team for four years five years whatever it was no and he was like there nobody was even close to what he was when during his time in Buffalo so yeah in his opinion yeah good things H look what happens when I get the football I no I he had the fourth most receptions in a season I think it was his first or second year in Buffalo I think it was his first year in Buffalo you know like so he's in the record books for that he's the first bills receiver to like he's basically the number one like receiver in a [ __ ] ton of categories for the bills and especially like in a five in a fiveyear time span he's number one in every single category basically maybe not touchdowns that might be Gabe Davis actually um but like when you're just that much better you're like look what happens when I get the ball good things happen when I when you throw me the ball we get W's so like is it like yeah okay yeah you shouldn't you know talk to Shakir yeah maybe you shouldn't get the ball because you you know you get the ball in a yard behind the line of scrimmage you just try to make people Miss I can win downfield to get chunk plays okay but you need both in the game of football you need somebody that's able to win behind the line of scrimmage on a screen play which digs could not do Casey looks like he's freezing up again so yeah I'll just kind of you also he's in and out um yeah I I think I don't know it's hard to say last season because we look at the the how things were going first part of the season when he was getting all the the the the receptions and and making plays we just weren't winning a lot of football uh we were what six and six I believe and then they started to kind of move away from that I don't know if the issue is or if the issue was digs didn't haveen anymore as he hit that wall physically where he can't do what he was doing before I don't know uh was he pulling coverage away that helped open things up for Shakir underneath again I don't know but from all of the reports and everything that we have seen out of training camp uh it sounds like Shakir and cancade are this offense like they are always open I don't know that they needed Diggs to pull coverage away and I've even heard from some of the players that played against the bill like that's not true we were not you know angling our coverage towards towards Diggs or focusing on him so this season is gonna be super super interesting for me um John AR says by yourself so keep talking I'm trying I'm Gonna Roll with this just as it is until casy gets back on here he's obviously having some computer issues or or internet but um so this seems going to be interesting I can't wait to see what we have I can't wait till Saturday because we have a full we actually have a game and mcder has already said that the bills will play their starters including Allen for roughly about a quarter I will be on the edge of my seat for that first quarter what's up Mike welcome man you're muted I think but yeah yeah just I can't wait I can't wait to this game see how things go this quarter I Mike let me ask you with this game will you be concerned you have to see that bills offense clicking this first game or if they go out there and they're three and out three and out three and out and then they're off the field for the rest of the game is that gonna worry you ah it's preseason nah there you go right time to take R agre I don't know yeah you you just you're trying whatever I mean may maybe some some stuff you you wouldn't do in the regular season um and just see how it works out so really yeah I don't know it's it's it's more fun it's relx it's it's it's just totally different than these regular season games um but you still want to win oh yeah yeah you always want to win but it's like but you're it's like uh I don't know you're always rooting for the underdog I feel like you're I don't know it's weird yeah because it's like I don't know it's not the actual team it is but it's not that's one I remember from watching preseason games back in the 80s and 90s the bills I swear those four Super Bowl years I think they won like one or two preseason games all all four years combined they just didn't never it matter yeah it doesn't matter but as a f you still want to watch them you still want to see them win and I I and I imagine as an athlete those guys on the field they want to win like they're they're playing for a job they're playing for money they're playing for their teammates they want to win those games yeah yes the grand scheme of it doesn't mean anything as far as you know standing goes yeah but I I'm I'm I guess I'm a different breed I love preseason but as far as winning I I mean I get it like you want to see like I don't care if your fourth string you're in the game I want to see you make a big play yeah you know to know that you know you're you're there you mean business you want to play football so you know that's good to see too you you know because it's hard for some people you watch the first quarter first half or whatever and then you kind of phase it out a little bit um but really to see uh you know these these new players these players that are deep in the chart see what they could do right yeah be awesome to see them make a big play win the game maybe unexpected Roy Collins here comments the Casey needs to update from that dialup he keeps using get on that update that this weekend uh Casey's actually headed this way we're going to watch the game together and then uh the celebrity baseball game here or softball game in Rochester just got rescheduled for the 10th same day and I called him up and I'm like hey what the heck I bought these tickets you know as a um uh a gift in uh as Bills fans you know but uh I'm like now we got this scheduling thing are Bills players going to be there um because there was a couple mentioned current players I think Groot uh was one of them but so we're all conflicted but they pushed it back to 7:30 so so we're gonna do both got you get both Best of Both Worlds yeah said Andre Reed's supposed to be there to now that'll be cool that'll be pretty cool uh since we're already on the game we'll get to the dep chart stuff here in just a moment we're already on the game and and there's some comments coming in John Robert here comments he wants to see how Tyrell shaver does uh yeah it's it's funny that John brings this up because I've been kind of going back and forth with you guys Casey even told me that I'm making a bigger deal out of it than it is which I that's what I'm not trying to do that it's just everybody wants to talk about the receiver room that's the content everybody's putting out right now because the fans want to know right yeah so the thing that I put out uh was a lot of people were talking about um Marquez Valdez scaning is a lock because of his guaranteed money which is roughly over two million I think 2.1 but I came I come back against that and say look they traded away digs they ate over $30 million to get him off of the team money I don't think is an issue to them and then I also brought up and and props to somebody on social media that kind of pointed this out so I went out and did some homework before I posted it but uh OJ Howard he received over $3 million in guarantee monies and didn't make it to the 53 didn't make it to the practice squad ended up signing with the Texans because we cut them so one of the things that I love about this staff they don't care where you're drafted they don't care how much money you're making you're making plays on the field and you're getting it done you will play if you're not you're gone exactly that's yeah and that's where I'm in at that's where I'm at with mvs he in fact today I saw he made a great play and then at the last play of the day uh which was a deep pass to him he was open through his hands and the comment was mvs has had an up and down Camp that's his whole career up and down just like Davis just like Gabe Davis it's the same thing only it's a little bit faster I don't want that I don't care how fast he is it's like Xavier worthy I don't give a crap if he runs a four zero whatever if you're inconsistent and you're dropping balls I don't want you right I get it everybody drops passes it it's can't expect him to be 100% right yeah I'm not the greatest for that reason I would love I would love to see Tyro Shavers make that or make that move onto the 53 and uh he's right now he's listed number three behind Mt Collins on the death chart uh and behind Coleman and Hollands but you know we we'll see what what do you got I you you just keep hearing more and his name coming up more and more I think and and you know we talked about uh you know Chase claypool's banged up with with the toe injury or whatever and and uh you know the inconsistency I mean it's right there in front of us um with mvs so I don't know he's been around what a few years now and I don't know we've all just been waiting waiting waiting yeah and that's the other thing too look at him he played with Aaron Rodgers when Aaron Rogers is winning MVPs yeah he played with Patrick Mahomes last year and and if those two quarterbacks can't Elevate you to at least be consistent that's a problem for me I don't I don't know I have nothing personally against the guy but I don't want him on the team move on sometimes I I think we got him just for a little insight on Kansas City yeah maybe maybe Ro says nvs has never had 700 receiving yards in any season with Rogers or momes giving him guaranteed money to me was absurd um I got a little bit agree with that but the way these contracts work these days I guess it's $2 million to me and you that's a lot of money I don't feel like that's a lot of money for them and I also think that at the time when they signed him they didn't have Coleman yet right they I I do believe they had uh Samuel Curtis samel but I think what being was trying to do is bring as many bodies into that room as he could so it start to weed through them and if it took $2 million guaranteed to bring him in here then so be it yeah but and if he's had an an inconsistent career or camp or whatever um one one thing he's he does have is experience in the league so you know as far as you know people trying to step up as far as leadership across the board you know so it's it's good to just have him around as far as that even though you know maybe he he doesn't make the field uh this season yeah I I guess he has a good relationship with joshh Allen that's one of the things I keep hearing but um well look if he ends up on the 53 I will root for him harder than anybody else out there but on I really wanted to see Turtle Shavers take that spot I I do I think there's some untapped potential there we know we're getting in with mvs let's see what Shavers can can offer offer him so that'll be something to look forward to uh Saturday yeah and I think he'll get a lot of opportunities too I do especially with you mentioned while ago with um clayo out with the injury I believe hamler has an injury so he probably isn't going to play so this is an opportunity for Shavers to really step up and and show what he could do he actually might get a lot of playing time right yeah yeah he might you know yeah couple of others a little bit of a surprise with the the roster the dep TR came out today one thing that stood out to me ma Holland is listed as the number two receiver opposite Curtis Samuel of course Shir in the slot and with Keon Coleman behind him um I'll speak for Casey even though he's not on here because we kind of already talked about it and he he did mention that uh a lot of times when mcder puts out this first depth chart the rookies are almost always buried somewhere he it's almost to send a message to them like you ain't made nothing yet yeah you got to keep working and I get that but so do you make anything of the fact that Holland is listed basically as as the starting receiver opposite um C Samuel it it was unexpected but it's so interesting because uh I think we had a little I said a pre-show like he's a he's a whole vibe here uh with the whole yeah no utensils no shoes Barefoot thing and and hearing how you know half the guys are going Barefoot now and not saying they're going all the way through practice but to different meetings or whatever and uh I don't know he he just seems like a good personality very likable obviously and and yeah Everyone likes to have him around sounds like he's a great leader and I don't know that's got to mean something right to be first on the depth chart he he must be doing something right for us something right maybe he's just a really good fit uh but man can't wait to see him hit the field yeah I'm excited to see this group uh on on Saturday uh John mentioned here John Robert I heard Shakir will play more uh outside these guys have been kind of moving around a lot throughout training camp yeah yes he can play on the outside as a as a player at boy State he did he was an outside receiver mostly so he's more than capable of it now that's Mountain West level it's not SEC so take it for what its worth but um uh Roy mentioned Zack Davidson needs some good preseason games to have a real chance Davis has been making some plays when I'm heing like he's really been standing out throughout training camp uh is this the year that Maurice was it Maurice Mor or Quint Quint Morris doesn't make the the the 53 because of Zack Davidson I don't know man I tough one yeah because Morris been here for a while it seems like yeah I know Morris hasn't been here for 10 years but it feels like it yeah I don't know I've seen Quint moris score touchdowns you know right there in the stadium so I'm like ah you love that yeah yeah uh some others as far as the offense goes really not any surprises James Cook was number one behind him Ty Johnson Gillian of course I don't think that guy's ever going anywhere he's probably gonna be 60 playing on this team as the fullback dalon concade number one tight end with DUS KNX behind so no no real surprises let's talk about Von Miller though on this initial death chart AJ Fess is listed in front of Von Miller in the starting spot what do you make of that now now that's like the opposite scenario of what you're talking about earlier burying the rookie in the depth chart this is this is putting you on you are you are the next guy up you and and he knows that and he's he he knows he's got a lot of work ahead of him he knows what he's got to do and you know Now's the Time I I do think it is it is putting him right on the spot opp Opposite of what we were saying about theer yeah I mean he's not a rookie but it's that time in his career where you know he's at the point where you know is he really gonna is he it or not yeah and so far everything sounds like he's playing really well and doing it and yeah look oh I love EPA I I think he's great and man really unfortunate we saw him get hurt uh last year because he was playing really well really well so if he can stay healthy and and uh consistent which is gonna strug for him yeah but he's he's got a real good talent yeah I think the talents there I think the consistency a little bit of an issue but more than that I think the issue is the injuries I don't know that he's got through whole season yet since coming into the league um so that's definitely a concern uh you've got Dwayne Carter the rookie lined up behind Ed Oliver then the other one a little bit surprising Dwayne smoo uh I think a lot of fans just kind of thought he was more of a camp body and just yeah go to the Wayside but he's less than number two behind himself so you've been hearing a lot I've been hearing his name a lot more too uh you know the guys the guys like him they I forget was it uh I don't I forget who it was in the interview you know just saying he's he's goofy he's a he's a you know good guy funny uh good to be around and and he's versatile uh he can be moved inside outside um and you know he's got some experience in the league as well so yeah it is a surprise but I don't know well we'll see what we got yeah he's another one of those guys I believe that he he was he was productive had an inury and then came back last year similar to Von Miller did not have a good year even though he was healthy enough to play yeah it was a Down year so I think the hope is that this year he's fully back and if he is that's that's a big pickup it is I'm not going to be sit here and say he's a double double digit sack guy or anything like that but I think he could be big asset for the team yeah I mean if he if he was like the starting guy maybe but I don't you know I don't think he's there yeah yeah yeah if he was starting but I don't yeah I don't think he starts over Russ so really quick there's a little bit more of the dep Tru I want to get to if you're watching about him do you would you be comfortable with him in the starting role I am for right now I mean things things are you know kind it's unfortunate the the situation we're in with guys banged up but uh yeah things couldn't I feel like be working out better for him so really you know I'm really happy for him I'm I'm all for it man if he can uh you know prove that he's got it I mean these other guys are going to take some time so he he might be the guy in that spot uh for a little while we'll see I mean these injuries are week to week or whatever and you know you got to get reps in um especially the rookie Cole Bishop uh if he's not getting reps in because he's banged up then I mean he's not learning this this defense and he's he's not getting used to playing in it yeah I know Casey I think he he mentioned this last on Monday Monday night show with you and him he mentioned that a kind of a Terrell Bernard situation where he thinks that it's possible that Mike Edwards is the starting safety and will come back we we'll assume that position once he's healthy to do so but yeah go ahead he he just he's sat further back than Cole Bishop just because I feel like he's been injured since he showed up here he and he really has I don't know I mean I don't know how much time he's had on the field in practice but it seems like he's been hurt since otaa is just about yeah um but hurt him do much I mean maybe he's learned and he's watching but yeah who knows but if Hamlin goes in there and plays well I don't see a reason to change it if he does go in there and play well and does complete this season or not complete but you know plays the majority of the year as a starter maybe he plays all 17 games whatever yeah um do you think the uh comeback Player of the Year voters would be like you know what we screwed up a season ago now's our opportunity to fix that I was just saying you know if if he like because because you know the big thing with you know the defense is complicated that and learning it and I mean if he can even step up as a leader and you know help help communicate and stuff like that and and really work good uh beside Taylor rap um I don't know I I always thought yeah he he still is eligible you know he definitely have my vote I mean that yeah it's it'd be like you know one of the biggest comeback stories ever I I agree Roy says here Mike Edwards needs to get healthy don't trust I mean already is but you know it would be doesn't trust camon as a as a long-term answer I don't know that I trust Edwards either though just because I've heard from some Chiefs fans and I've even heard from some of the the the analysts and stuff like that and if you look at Pro Football Focus Mike Edwards did not have a great season like a lot of people I don't say a lot but people I said he was kind of like almost a weak link of that secondary um so I I just don't know what to think about him and the fact that he has not gotten on the field almost at all yeah so far I would almost rather have PA Bishop in there if it's not Hamlin to be honest like go ahead because we know he's the future at least that's what we believe yeah just throw him in there let his athleticism take charge while he's learning and see what happens yeah I mean in in uh oh let's not forget about like guys like Kareem Jackson too um who are also deep in there that you know I don't know let's just hope Cole Bishop's injury isn't too serious uh it doesn't like linger or anything like that because then it's going to be a it's going to be a slow road to get up to speed uh with this team yeah yeah let me back up a little bit on the correction that Casey he commented here he can't be on the show um as far as that Bernard situation with Bernard coming in after he was referring to um Cole Bishop being that guy that comes in week one or two or whatever as soon as he's healthy uh which okay I man just just for the the story alone and what it would mean to this franchise and the Demar Hamlin I would love to see him get that spot and play well play it good um not just be you know oh this is a cool story let's go ahead and play him no I want him to be successful um because ultimately I want the team to be success successful but I think it be really cool if he he got that role and oh yeah and played really well um there was something else over here John Robert if Hamlin does well Bean will need to resign for The Following season um that's a good point is it his last year right I believe so yeah so I mean but does he resign him if Cole's the future I mean you do need depth yeah you need depth but if Hamley can get a bigger better deal on the market he's probably going to take it I don't want to blame him yeah he probably would there's been T going and you got Bishop on a rookie deal yeah so if you could save a few bucks yeah save a few bucks I think they would probably go that route uh Roy Collins Justin Simmons still available yeah uh he is I saw I think today he was visiting with somebody and now I can't remember who but I don't know that Buffalo can work out a deal with him again because of the money situation um I don't know I I don't know what think there's a lot of talk about that one though yeah I don't know it seems like rap is really kind of picked up on things it's gonna be his first full season uh you know it seems like and yeah it just like I said it just seems like he's really picking up on things uh so I'm I'm comfortable for now it's early it's early enough uh pre-season we got you know enough time there to see how some of these things shake out before we get too worried hey we're getting close to the end of time here really quick though before we bounce uh we do have a game this weekend Saturday one o'clock Eastern I almost at 11 because it's 11 o'clock for me at home um one o'clock Eastern Bills versus Bears uh Caleb Williams will play for the Bears sounds like Josh Allen's going to be out there on the field he's going to play for about a quarter what are you looking for out of this game what is what is is there a particular player position group um that you're looking at or want want to get some Feelgood feelings from or you just GNA go enjoy the game and see what happens we're just gonna enjoy it Casey said we're gonna we're gonna relax maybe uh we'll take a couple notes but no just you know the eye test right you're finally on the field some of these guys have never played an NFL snap before a real NF NFL snap they still haven't even after this game but yeah you know just yeah seeing what we do I don't know get getting the getting The Kinks out you know get get rid of the the drops the you know trying this and that practice your celebrations you know if we get in the End Zone points yeah I want to see the first I want to see first team off kind of click back back in the chart uh you know it' be cool see guys make make big plays we we're not looking to for Josh know her from the Buffalo Rumblings group or team she put out a tweet earlier today uh for the Tyler bass Camp Roy are you listening yeah throughout Camp from what she has seen as far as the people that have put up numbers and stats Tyler bass is 29 of 33 in training camp so far it's pretty good percentage 7.9 his only misses his four misses from 46 50 52 and 58 and a couple of those were in the rain on wet Turf um so practice Yeah I this is through the the entire training camp I don't understand why people are still getting on him I guess maybe because every time he misses one social media blows up like oh my gosh Tyler bass Mr phield goal okay others we don't like that around here well well we don't but he's making his field gos more often than not this is not and the ones that he's missed three of them were were from 50 plus yeah he has made some that were that were 50 plus as well it's a Coming of Age story he's he's kicking he's practicing out here in Buffalo he's kicking in the wet rain I just we need to get off this Tyler Bast issue narrative um because I don't see it I don't see that as a problem and anyways we'll wait till we get to the games if he misses some key
