Back in. We are looking ahead to Saturday when the Washington Spirit take on the Portland Thorns in a nationally televised match right here on W USA nine. Now, the Spirit is the hottest team in the DMV right now with 12 wins so far this season, they are tied for the most in a single season in club history and our number or second place in the national women's soccer league stand out Washington Spirit forward, Trinity Rodman has three goals in her last five matches with the team. She also scored three goals and an assist at the Olympics. Needless to say she has lit it up for both club and country and she joins us now on get up DC Trinity. Good morning. Thanks so much for joining us. Thanks for having me. Absolutely. Ok. So you're coming off a stellar Olympic Games uh representing the US women's national team. You are now part of a new legacy where does winning a gold medal rank in your accomplishments? Yeah, it's at the top. Hopefully for now and then um World Cup could be next and maybe a championship this year. But yeah, I would say it's pretty it's pretty high up there. And what are we doing? Are we going with the nickname? Triple Espresso? I mean, yeah, I feel like it's still teetering between the Trident and Triple Espresso. Me. So and mel like Espresso, so we're gonna stick with that one. Ok, we'll go with Triple Espresso. Congratulations for all of your success. Also. You've got a new coach, uh earlier in the season. How do you see the team progressing from this day on? Um I think it's, we're just gonna keep going up, obviously, there was change um halfway through the season. And um, yeah, I think we're adapting every single day and it's, it's showing that we're improving and we're building our connections. So I'm very excited about the rest of the season. Love to hear that. And, you know, just 10 days ago, you became just the third person in women's soccer league history to score 10 or more goals in multiple seasons before the age of 23. That is the accomplishment. What has helped you to be so successful so early on in your career. Um I think just not getting content. I think being a young player and being successful, it's easy to think that I, I did my job already, but for me, I'm always looking to improve and um kind of beat myself every year, beat my last year self. So, um yeah, I think just not getting complacent and uh as we enter the last quarter of the season, of course, the spirit hoping to clinch a spot in the playoffs. What advantage is there to locking up a playoff berth as soon as possible? I mean, again, I think for us, we've been keeping our head down and honestly, I'd rather not clench it fast because then you gotta keep going up and you gotta keep pushing. Um, I think once clinch, then it's kind of like, oh, again, we kind of did it, the job's done. But for us this whole season, it's been like, how can we get better? How can we improve, how can we score more goals? So I think honestly, we're just gonna keep our head down and focused on game man, spoken like a true leader.
