our next game takes us to the Southwest in San Marcos Texas where the UTSA road runners go on the road take on the Texas State Bobcats the Battle of I35 one of the biggest rivalries in all of Texas we talk about Texas Texas A&M Texas Texas Tech and so on and so forth but look this is a very underrated rivalry when we talk about the state of Texas 4M kickoff on ESPNU Texas state only favor by two in this point at at this point in the week you gotta think it's gonna be a close matchup Brad what are your thoughts on this game and who do you have coming out on top in the I35 rivalry well guys we were just talking off camera how excited we are for this game and I am too two great programs we Jeff Traer you know that we're huge fans of you here on bre the Huddle so we hope to have you on one day just a little shout out there and Texas state is an upand cominging program they've got a young head coach and and GJ Kenny who has done a fantastic job and boys I'm gonna tell you I wish I was at this one for the football but also wish I was out there so I could get some Texas barbecue so um I'm I'm just I'm really really excited to watch this game I've Nate I know you mentioned I've got family in the San Antonio area as well and this is just a really really a fun game um I'm going to keep this one kind of short and sweet because this one plain and simple to me it comes down the quarterback play um they're both breaking in new quarterbacks Texas state is is having to replace TJ Finley who is now the starter at Wester Kentucky um he had a great great year last year for Texas state but they have got starting quarterback uh Jordan McLoud he transferred from James Madison and had a good debut last week three touchdowns one pick 238 yards um you know Texas uh Texas State's going to run that Air Raid Offense where they're going to put receivers all over the field and just try to hit explosives and then UTSA I'm just a huge fan of Jeff Traer Nate I I man we've talked about him a lot here and um I think we're both opinion if UTSA has another good year especially now that Frank Harris is gone Jeff trayer could be on his way to a big time program and I hope that for him because I'm a big fan of this guy but talking about utsa's quarterback look you're replacing a legend there Owen M Macau did a great job last week he was efficient 340 yards he threw three touchdowns both teams had had close games Texas state had to kind of pull it out late against Lamar and then UTSA was in a battle with new FBS team uh kennol State who you know that's not too far from from all of us just to the west of us um here in in North Metro Atlanta it comes down to the quarterback play for me and I I guess because Texas State is favored I'm going to take a littleit been upset I'm just a huge fan of the road runners I'm a huge believer in this program and I think Jeff Traer is going to have them ready to play so give me the road runners in I'm gonna say an upset in this one wow Brad great pick great pick and to your point both teams bringing in new quarterbacks and it's going to be interesting to see which one comes out on top I'll turn it over to you rooster thoughts on this game and who comes out on top in the I35 rivalry in your opinion well that spread right there tells you all you need to know about these two teams it's GNA be a very very close matchup I think this is all going to come down to quarterback play with Jordan McLoud coming in who's an absolute stud back there and then USA losing uh Frank Harris it's going to be a very intriguing matchup to see how these two teams match up so with that being said there's only one place we can take this to fully decide it and that's going to be off the field so first to touch on I have two things to touch on in this game first it seems that NCAA football 25 loves the Texas State Bobcats college football 25 college football 25 loves the Texas State Bobcats it seems like they are the group of five nominee every single time you simulate the season then second point the barcol university funded party for colleges came down to Athens Georgia versus Texas State Bobcats last week and Texas State put up one heck of a fight against the dogs for a school that's this that is much smaller in size so that being said you know that this HomeField Advantage is going to be absolutely rocking with all the juices flowing in the stadium yeah and that spread right there has a two and a half Point favorite and usually they say that the HomeField Advantage plays a three-point favorite in a game so if we take this game to neutral site it'd be an even spread pick them so that being said I want to take the HomeField Advantage the are going to be flowing I'm taking the Texas State Bobcats wow rooster wow coming out hot with that pick so House Divided we've got one UTSA pick from Brad we've got one Texas State pick from rooster to my right I want to mention both of you guys and and Brad I know you kind of touched on it in your opener Owen maccau son of Josh Macau I mean this is a very prevalent quarterback pedigree when it comes to to uh family genetics and just play on the field and overall experience leadership maturity Owen count is that guy he's been around football for a long time his dad was a quarterback in the NFL as you all know last week completed 73% of his passes 340 yards three touchdowns and zero interceptions they've got a good receiving corar they've got Robert Henry Devin Coan for 140 yards combined in two touchdowns last week um and they've got a breaking a new running young running back core they've got um Henry who had 30 yards on six carries defensively they only allowed 16 points in 250 53 yards per game I mean I understand it's week one Brad but you got to feel pretty good about the road runners and on the other side you got Texas State HomeField defense obviously playing a role in this to Rooster's point that crowd is going to be absolutely nuts they're going to be coming for this uh UTSA fan base and they're not afraid either They'll Come Out Swinging as well you mentioned transfer quarterback Jordan McLoud who played outstanding for the James Madison Dukes now he's at Texas State this is one of the hardest for me of the week in the end though I have to go with the UTSA of road runners I think they're just slightly better coached and to your point we talk about Billy Napier and Mike norell having some hot seat talk along with davo Sweeney this could be an opportunity for Jeff trailer to slip right in to the SEC or to the ACC for Florida State or Clemson either way give me the UTSA road runners and a close one Birds up
