Alabama Commit Turbo Rogers Shines, FSU’s Stumble & Depth Chart Predictions

all right so I got to see turbo Rogers up close and personal last night at krampton Bowl let me tell you what I thought about [Music] it you are locked on Bama your daily podcast on the Alabama that's normally him but you know what it's Jimmy's anniversary today and uh that needs to be celebrated that he found a woman to put up with him this long this episode is brought to you by ultimate GM I'll tell you about ultimate GM here in just a bit and we got a lot to talk about so I wanted to go ahead and just do a show we're going to talk about what I saw in Turbo Rogers and Carver Montgomery last night because they had some other dudes too by the way uh we're going to also talk about other ahsa scores we're going to talk about depth chart predictions and FSU and Danny canel let's do a welfare check um but we're gonna start off with what I saw last night at Crampton Bowl um from Carver Montgomery as I better pause the TV behind me as I can see it in the reflection but that's okay um all right Carver Montgomery they defeat Vestavia pretty easily uh it was very clear that they were the better team first of all let's also remember that Carver Montgomery is has merged with Sydney laner there is no more Sydney laner in uh Montgomery so those two schools have merged so that's a lot of getting used to when you add in the fact that is a new coach in Bobby Carr who uh comes from the Aisa uh he's been incredibly successful but now he's going to uh Carver Montgomery which has been 6A for a long time they just moved up to 7A so and then the best player on the team is Turbo Rogers and he's brand new he hadn't been there before he's been at Pike Road been at IMG now he's uh at Carver so there's a lot of new stuff going on uh over at Carver Montgomery and I expected there to be some growing paints right I didn't really see a lot they got some dudes now they're going to they're going to have their Growing Pains as the season goes along in 7A but uh T let's start with turbo Rogers I like it do I think he's AK deer I do not um I don't mean that as an insult AK de is he the first or second best running back in the country so what turbo Rogers remind me of and by the way he had a nice night you know I think in the title I'm putting he shines and and he did Shine because he had about 170 total yards of offense he had I think nine catches for 80 something yards um ironically as a running back he only had two carries for like negative2 yards that was very weird but they don't give him the ball in that capacity obviously with only two carries um he had a touchdown reception that was very nice I mean a very nice catch specifically for a running back specifically for a running back that was very well covered um it and it hit him in in a fantastic spot and but it was great coverage and it's tough to concentrate on that when somebody's all over you no matter how good the pass is he made the catch was able to get his feet in bounds um it was very close but I thought he did a great job of that he also looked good in the return game here here's okay here's the positive and the negative he is very good in the return game right um but it takes him a minute to get going he is incredibly fast one thing I learned about him in studying for this game he has been laser timed at 4.48 seconds right uh but it seems like it takes him a minute to get there meaning like he's just not out of the gate like you know shot out of a cannon it's almost like his legs got to get going and then it's tough It's it's like a very small Derek Henry where you know it doesn't look like he's running all that fast to begin with but then he when he gets going and he's barreling towards you you don't want to touch him well it's the same kind of thing except a much more compact version and he's very difficult to tackle because he is so small they got to him listed at 5'9 I'm going to say he's closer to 5'8 I didn't get on the field with him but it wouldn't have done me any good anyway because I'm 6'5 and it would I wouldn't have been able to be a good judge of what he is um very muscular legs very muscular dude uh feels like his teammates uh like him respect him all those things that you want that are just little uh nuances that you certainly want in a in a player that's on your team um bottom line at the end of the day uh by the way he did have some good return moments but a lot of them were called back due to holding I think two very good returns by him were called back due to holding and probably cost him about 5075 yards in total offense so end of the day I want him in this class okay if he ends up going somewhere else and and as you have all probably read the tea leaves and read the the recruiting sites he's still looking at Ohio State Auburn Georgia he's probably going to take these visits and if he does end up somewhere else so be it I'm it's not devastating but I want him in this class um you know he's I I think that he's sort of a mixture between Kendrick law and Keith Mixon and I'm taking some of you guys back I think Keith Mixon was like in 2013 he was from Shades Valley I loved that kid I really wanted Alabama to offer him he went to Mississippi State and then he ended up transferring somewhere else and it never really panned out on the football field I don't think um but I really thought he was going to be a diamond in the rough I loved him at Shades Valley so when I say he's a a hybrid of of Keith Mixon and and Kendrick law I'm giving him a compliment I promise you because I really like both of those guys especially on the high school level maybe maybe um it doesn't pan out you know kri law hadn't really done anything on the Collegiate level yet either so I mean I know we're all hopeful but it can be looked at as a negative I guess but I'm really treating this as a positive I like this kid a lot would love to have him on this team I hope he's a part of this class and um you know there it is now TK Norman who plays for Carver he is um committed to Texas A&M long guy long Strider uh pretty fast he had a one bad drop but he also had a long touchdown catch where he just toasted his Defender um he's a three star and I think that's where he needs to be is a three star I think he can eventually certainly help T z&m I understand where they're recruiting him I also understand why Alabama apparently isn't quite as much um then their quarterback TJ Russell for Carver that's somebody to keep an eye on man when he's hot he is he's good he was really hot for a while there and then he cooled off and I thought Carver made some coaching eras in terms of they could have run the clock out but I feel like they were just still trying to run their offense and it gave Vestavia a a hint of a window to come back but Vestavia kept throwing interceptions I think they had four in the second half Carver had like two six4 guys in the defensive back field and vavia is starting a brand new quarterback Who got hurt until the backup comes in and that really uh hurt hurt them so a couple other ahsa notes um first of all prayers up to the young man who was hurt in the Aisa game and the at last it doesn't appear as though he's going to make it he injured his head um I'm told that he like he got injured and maybe some he landed wrong and then somebody landed on top of him wrong and then he got up and started walking and then he just sort of hit the ground again um obviously rushed to the hospital and um I I don't even I don't even feel comfortable giving out names all this you'll be able to see all of this and um I just boy my heart aches for that family and um at last my my last report from somebody who who does know them was that uh it's not it's looking very Bleak yeah they had actually the school had actually put out something about how he had passed and at that time it was a little premature he had not quite passed but uh it was getting to that point I'm afraid that's where it's going to wind up and Lord I I just um I I I don't know what to say you just we're all loving this game of football but there are some dangerous things that can happen and uh so I'm I'm not going to be a downer for everybody but prayers up for him and U couple other things EJ Cowell for Jackson they played sarand he had a great game like over 200 yards he's a 2027 guy running back very powerful KJ Lacy committed to Texas but I like talking about him from Saran had four TDS another good night um sedarian Morgan for brhs he's a 2026 guy uh they lost but he had a touchdown they lost opica he had a touchdown um I know some people a lot of people actually because this game was in El City that watched that game they were uh you know always impressed with cedarian Morgan they weren't Blown Away necessarily by Malik arrey who's on at least on one side a five star committed Auburn but I think he's a good player too um and sedarian was sporting Alabama gloves for whatever that means at the same time there's some Auburn people that have just put in crystal balls for sedarian to commit to Auburn I do know he comes from an Alabama family so that may help I don't know um I certainly hope he ends up in Alabama's class tanks Jones for St Paul's also scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime this is another 2026 guy uh one of the best players in the state of Alabama for 2026 at Alabama certainly recruiting so we'll have more on this but you know B excuse me al.com is going to like a pay wall for their Recaps of a lot of the games which I think is just terrible because that job uh it's by the way somebody just asked where is Jimmy is if you didn't catch the beginning of the podcast Jimmy is having his anniv today he told me the only pass he could get for today from his wife was to watch the FSU Georgia Tech game so he didn't have time to do a podcast today so but I I I there was so much news that I wanted to come on with something um okay so Nick Sabin I thought was tremendous I mean we all knew he would be right he's born to do this in fact I would say Nick sabin's kind of Born to do anything I mean whatever he wants to do he could do it um I I really hate it when people tell me Nick sain failed in the NFL no he didn't fail he ended up leaving I think he would have ultimately been successful because he's always ultimately successful because he's the most driven cat that's ever lived on this planet so um he he did a marvelous job today he also basically called his shot get you know saying hey George TX go watch out um some Alabama fans certainly raised eyebrows when he said he thinks Auburn could be the most improved team in the SEC and I'm going to tell yall something as much as I hate to say it I agree with him I think they're going to be much better this year the schedule's a lot better and um I I feel like they got more Talent so before you hate on Sabin also hate on me uh then let's talk about this game for a second because I I don't know how many of you guys uh listen to SiriusXM as much as I do if you have been following this pod for a while you know that just about every morning I drive from Birmingham to Alexander City for work and back uh just about every day now some days I spend night with my parents I have a show on Tuesday nights that I do in El City and of course other times I just work in Birmingham whatever but most time I'm in the car a lot and I'm gonna be driving to Raleigh North Carolina tomorrow by the way and back on Monday so I'm in the car a lot so I I have Serious XM I listen to them pretty religiously uh I love their the national college football perspective I listen to Danny and Dusty in the morning or Dusty and Danny in the morning uh which is comes on it 5:00 A.M Central and last I think till 8: and I get to hear it because I leave at 5: in the morning and Danny canel is as uh irritating and arrogant by Design I'll give him credit he does it by Design so that it uh boosts his own brand um and his his love for Florida State knows no bounds which again I get he played for him um but he has you know certainly went off on the selection committee last year for leaving Florida State out Etc all these things so I gotta say I was pulling for George's Tech today and it was nice to see them win I hated it for the Alabama transfers I'm not mad at Roy D Williams I'm not mad at Earl little I'm not mad at uh oh Malik Benson I'm not mad at these dudes I mean that's fine you want to go do something else um I'm probably mad at Caleb DS than I'm matter at them I mean because I understood a little bit I mean frankly Alabama had recruited past most of those other guys so so you know I do hate it for them that they lose um at the same time I mean how can you not be happy as an Alabama fan that Danny canel's crying a little bit right um I think that that is uh that certainly helped add to it and it's just college football I mean here's Brent key a guy stepping in by the way a Birmingham native former coach at Alabama super guy uh Brent key comes over to Georgia Tech by the way with a Auburn transfers that sh could be helping Auburn this year they look good that Amari Harvey dude was everywhere and romelo height who was at Auburn then USC now back at Georgia Tech he seemed to be everywhere um regardless uh Georgia Tech is sort of Zack purn is a former state of Alabama quarterback I think it f if I remember right uh so yeah I mean it's just it was just good to see and it's very college football to start off this way and already give us something uh an upset to start this new playoff era I Jimmy and I are both on record saying we didn't really love the expanded playoffs we definitely didn't love it going to 12 but what I do love is uh the the new stance ESPN took like hey it's never been a season like this that's good marketing because that's true there's never going to be a season there's never been a season like this one's about to be where Florida State's not out of it I mean again I see the flaw in the old system where it' be very tough for Florida State to come back from a loss like this in the past because Georgia Tech's probably not going to be a factor in the end um but Florida state will still have a shot at this you know they can certainly win their conference and get in or they could just win out even if they don't win the conference um and let's say two other ACC teams go and defeated it or whatever they don't win the conference they could still get in I don't think they will they don't DJ U young is still he is what we thought he was he's still the same dude he's not bad but he's not awesome you know what's funny about DJ U unal if he were a three star Commitment if he were a three star recruit I should say back in the day I don't think anybody'd be hating on him I think people are hating on him because he was so uh hyped up I mean remember he was in the same class with CJ Stroud and Bryce young they all came from California none of them stay at California schools trout to uh Ohio State of course um Bryce young deama and U young to to Clemson and the other two are about to start their second year in the NFL and U unal is on his third school and I think he's 23 years old now so in a way I feel kind of sorry for him um as somebody chimes in and says look the the the success for Florida State last year was Jordan Travis not necessarily Mike Norville and that is another thing that is that does make me laugh a little is that Mike Norville sort of went out of his way Along with Dan Lanning to make it appear as though Alabama thought you know made him the first choice and dor is the second choice I don't believe that for one second I've been told otherwise by people that would know I don't believe that for one second but he used it to his benefit to probably get himself a new contract so in the end I I think that what you have to do is put Georgia Tech at least in the top 20 maybe top 15 and I think you gota drop Florida State either all the way out or into the bottom you know maybe the 23 24 25 Mark it's just a fantastic way to start the season frankly and it's going to um you know it just draws some interest and I'll tell you something else bully for Ireland because they they showed up at game day they had a great atmosphere it looked like everybody was having a blast Miss Terry was dancing everything was going great and they ended up with a great game and the weather was pretty dog gone good for Ireland you know they kept making all these points about how you know Ireland weather it is what it is but the weather looked pretty good so overall huge huge success and I thought that uh that that was a lot of fun to watch and what a great way to kick off the college football season all right do want to talk a little bit about what babon line came out with with their depth chart predictions we won't you know go over the the obvious ones when yeah Jaylen milr is going to be the starter who would have thought it but we will talk about some of the ones that maybe uh we need to question but it's time to talk a little game time I love game time I've used it a gazillion times something sort of random of course quarterback's couldn't be Jaylen milro running back this is a little bit more interesting they have projected starter be Justice hannes I thought they would go Jam Miller but Jam Miller's been back banged up right and that's their thinking I swear I believe this and I just drafted Justice Haynes in our college football fantasy uh draft because I think Justice Hay's going to end up being rb1 I really do I like jam Miller a lot just love what uh What uh just Jus haes brings to the table now wide receivers again I think it's pretty chalk Jeremy Bernard Kendrick law Kobe prenis with Ryan Williams Emanuel Henderson and Cole Adams being the top Challengers I'm and and then of course you know Jaylen Hills in in reserve but he's he won't be playing this year Bubba Hamilton uh excuse me bubba Hampton jiren Hamilton um Amari Jefferson Caleb odm and Rico Scott also there I'm gonna go out in Lim and I'm going to say by the end of the year Ryan Williams is a starter along with Jeremy Bernard and potentially I'm gonna throw out Bubba Hampton Rico Scott or Cole Adams and maybe a darkh horse Emanuel Henderson this is not a shot on any of the other guys they're saying like Kendrick La Kobe prenis I think they will get plenty of reps I just feel like those guys have as much have more potential now Prince has been very good for Alabama has he been an all-time no he hasn't but he's been very good maybe he takes another step up with this new staff that could that certainly Could Happen um same thing with Kendrick law Jimmy and I talk about Kendrick law as much as we talk about anybody not named Jaylen Miller or Ryan Williams on this podcast because he's an enigma uh you know I brought it up last night even on the podcast or excuse me on the broadcast I think that hey you know the thing about Kendrick law we all love him and you look at him and you go oh my God this guy's a specimen but the best play of his career so far is a play is a touchdown that was called back in the Iron Bowl last year and so when that's your best play in a couple of years you're sort of like okay what do I really know um again though I feel like he could explode in this system and that's another reason that I'm sort of high on turbo Rogers because I feel like he's got some kindrick law in him and I want to see how this staff uses Kendrick law and that may even sell me more on turbo Rog so I but in the end y'all know how I feel about Ryan Williams and Jimmy feels about the same way about him I mean we just feel like he's going to be too good to leave off the field as much as possible tight end CJ dpri obviously I I think that's sort of a no-brainer at Robbie OTS and uh Josh quavas Danny Lewis Ty Lockwood and Jay Lindsay I think it's going to come down to more I think uh Robbie is gonna be more H backy kind of go in there in some really uh specific situations I think we see a lot more depri quavis and I'm going to say Danny Lewis I think Danny Lewis could have a breakout year at tight end the lineman won't spend as much time discussing it I know a lot of people you know it just doesn't sell tickets as much super important I know how important they are but it doesn't move the meter for most people when you're talking about a podcast Tyler Booker obviously brailsford obviously and Jaden Roberts obviously I saw something on an NFL draft the other day and they were talking about Jaden Roberts and they said this dude may move up the boards in a big way so uh look for that possibly let's hope he has a big year uh Kaden Proctor will conform be again sort of chalky because we sort of knew that's where that was going to end up now defense uh also pretty interesting uh they had some that you know stand out a little bit when you're talking about Bandit jaryan leam uh and it said he's the and then they got top Challenger LT Overton I'm goingon to make a prediction LT Overton starts and if it's not game one it'll be game two I really believe that now the reserves Jordan Renard and Keon Keeley man I love this position I love the names at this position boy we got to get some production out of each one of those guys though right I mean jaryan leams had a nice career a very nice solid career but we we would love as fans to see somebody really take that position by the Reigns I think um defensive tackles uh Tim Keenan Tim Smith and the uh top Challengers James Smith Damon Payne Jim Otis I'm again gonna go out in a limb and say James Smith ends up starting more games than he's the reserve now I don't know when that's going to happen because I feel like initially it will be Tim Keane and Tim Smith sort of the the Elder Statesman but I think James Smith's the light's going to come on for him this year then of course you got edric Hill Hunter Osborne Jeremiah bean and Isaiah funga uh I love saying Isaiah funga uh then it wolf Q Robinson um I think that is sort of a no-brainer uh keano cot and Quay Russa jonzi Pierre J Jon Ross and Noah Carter listed as reserves I think we don't see much of Jon Ross this year I think we could see a little Noah Carter I would like to see some jonzi Pierre just to I think he can be Unleashed let's let's get him out there um I hope the light comes on for him I do think this sort of stays chalk what they've listed here for the for the entire year boy I've said chalk a lot in this podcast inside linebackers Deontay Lawson and Jihad Campbell that is it's the best inside linebacker duo in the country prove me wrong top Challengers being Justin Jefferson and Jeremy Alexander Jeremy Alexander would be the one guy if you can say I don't know these I would predict him to be the breakout this year you asked me hey Luke who do you want to break out on defense for me is Jeremiah Alexander I mean I'm ready for one of the Thompson kids to really start shining for Alabama it hasn't happened yet I love Thompson as a school they look good the other night even in a loss um Jared Smith looked good and Anquan fagins unfortunately both committed Auburn they looked good um and then there's Justin okaro Sterling Dixon Kaden Jones and Quinton Reese I haven't heard a peep out of Quinton Reese uh in this fall Camp shocks me a little bit I I love QB Reese I love that kid and I want him to do well um Justin okara we've heard a lot about he doesn't always know where he needs to be but when he gets there he gets there with a bad attitude uh projected starters at cornerbacks demani Jackson Deshawn Jones top Challenger Zen Brown I'm G to make another prediction by game two Zan Brown is a starter and then of course you got Jalil Hurley Jaylen inak and Z meny this feels like J J Jalil Hurley needs to make a move doesn't it uh does to me husky Devonte Smith and Challengers King Mack red Morgan I think Devonte Smith holds on that job the entire year barring injury but red Morgan he he he fights for it I really believe that he has had a great uh fall Camp then there's Malachi Mo and Kean Saab no-brainers and Bray hubard Cameron Howard are two guys that are top Challengers and the reserve is Dre Kurt Patrick J what they have listed I think Dr katrick JR could end up being a real Dark Horse to play a lot this year um that that kid just has a nose for the ball all right that's going to do it for today's podcast y'all go check out locked on college
