This Monday morning, we do want to transition to the very latest coming out of Georgia. We're getting new details on the investigation into the deadly shooting at appalache High School. 2. Students. and 2 teachers were killed 9. Others heard this morning. We're learning. The accused shooter's mother says she did. what she could to warn School staff about her son's State of Mind joining us live this morning to further discuss and share the latest is Fox 5. Atlanta. Brooke, zoner, Brooke, good morning to you. What can you tell us at this hour? Good morning. Well, first and foremost, I want to show you what's actually happening here at Appalachia High School. There's a huge Gathering right now in front of a memorial in front of this school that has been growing since the day after this horrible tragedy unfolded. Uh, we're trying to figure out, uh, exactly. Uh, where these folks came from, if they're from a neighboring school or if they're just people here. in the Barrow County community, that wanted to pay their respects, but just a huge crowd. of people clearly wanting to pay their respects. But yes we have been steadily learning. new information about that 14 year, old suspect. And according to his mother, uh, she tried to warn school officials before. this deadly Rampage. New Revelations are coming to light about what led to the deadly mass shooting at appalache High School. according to a report from the Washington Post, 14-year-old, cult Gray's mother called the school. Just minutes before those shots to warn staff about her son's Behavior. Marci, gray apparently urged, A counselor to find her son and warned of an extreme emergency. reports. Also alleged, she got a text from her, son, Saying he was sorry. the Associated Press spoke to the mother of another student in Gray's class she says School administrators appear to be looking for him before the deadly shooting. she went on to say school administrators, Mistakenly investigated a different student with a similar name before the shooting. the Washington Post. Also reported relatives contacted the school about Colt's Mental health, a week before the shooting saying he was having homicidal and suicidal thoughts. The new information? comes as victims continue to recover No parents. To go through this. We need to fix this. You know, our country needs to be safe but 15 year old Natalie. Griffith is 1 of those victims. She still remains in the hospital recovering from 2, gunshot wounds 1 to her arm the other across her chest. we're on the right side of this. We're getting better and you know, I'm I'm hoping that, you know, there's no long-term effect and obviously, a very long road to recovery, not just physically, but emotionally for uh this very small tight-knit community. And as for that 14 year old suspect cult gray, will he remains Behind Bars. along with his father. colon gray, who faces Chargers in connection to this shooting, as well. Uh, they are set to have a preliminary hearing in early December.
