[Music] hey tennis fans I'm Grace Carter and this is tennis now presented by Tennis Express get your favorite tennis gear at tennisexpress.com today it is hard to say goodbye something tennis fans felt on Monday in Flushing Meadows as 2020 Champion Dominic team and two-time quarterfinalist Diego schwarzman each played their final Grand Slam matches team lost to Ben Shelton on Arthur Ash stadium and schwarzman was toppled by g mon it was sad to see the end of their grand slam careers especially at their ages team will turn 31 on September 3rd and schwarzman is 32 seemingly Young by today's standards for some reason though the game passed them by for team it was the right wrist which was injured back in 2021 he tried valiantly to come back but never quite got back to full strength in his prime the former number three was an absolute Menace with Incredible physicality team won 16 matches against the big three and had an impressive 5-2 record against Roger feder he was 6 and 10 versus Nadal and 5- seven versus jokovic in addition to his US Open Triumph in 2020 he reached three other major finals schwarzman is a former world number eight who captivated fans with his lionhearted brand of tennis at 5'7 somehow he went toe to- Toe with the game's best he was an extraord ordinary shop maker and a worldclass fighter but his game has slipped over the past few years and he's never seemed to get his fire back the US Open treated both players to onc court ceremonies after their losses and awarded plaques to commemorate their US Open careers emotions will also be high for American Danielle Collins who played her final match today hanging up her Racket and trademark ferocity this year she will continue to play the rest of the season Collins had a brilliant farewell season already though winning titles in Miami and Charleston backto back and cracking the top 10 like team Collins is just 30 but she's been hampered by illnesses and a lot of ailments throughout her career and recently realized it's just too hard for her to continue the Florida native has won the hearts of so many fans and they got a chance to see her one more time at the US Open and her run this time around very short indeed also hanging up the pets after this US Open is American Shelby Rogers the two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist is another fan favorite who reached number 30 in the world and earned seven top 10 wins including a very dramatic win over world number one Ash bardy at the 2021 US Open Shelby is definitely one of the good ones so Father Time remains undefeated in tennis but we didn't expect to see these players leaving quite so soon so let this be a reminder to enjoy your favorite players while you can I'm Grace Carter see you next time here on tennis now
