[Music] Patty s Alfa the wife of Bruce Springsteen has disclosed that she has been secretly battling cancer the 71-year-old guitarist who performs with her husband in the East Street Band received a multiple Myoma diagnosis in 2018 and withdrew from touring to attend to her health and private in the recently released documentary Road diary Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band which had its World premiere on Sunday night at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada the songwriter has finally opened out about her struggle with cancer speaking about her decision to scale back her stage commitments Patty explained I've been performing with this band for 40 years with those first performances it felt so good to be back on stage touring has become a challenge for me in 2018 well Bruce and I were doing a play on Broadway I was diagnosed with early stage multiple Myoma she continued by saying that although she still attempts to attend shows occasionally she no longer performs regularly Patty added this affects my immune system so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go this documentary represents Patty's first public speech regarding her cancer diagnosis
