Brian Snitker talks Braves Injury Impact Signings of Ramon Laureano, Gio Urshela & Whit Merrfield

[Music] how's Travis feeling today um a little better you I really I saw him getting hooked up to the machines and everything so he's going to try and do a little more today the catch position is it could he go on there oh he could play if something happened yeah um but you know he hadn't torqued the bat yet so how about Solair Solair he's running was going to run the bases today he's still the day-to-day Off the Bench type thing with Max I guess you're just looking for a little more progress here you know every start seems to have gotten a little bit PR times just you know putting the whole thing together I think he just has yet to do that since he's been back so we're just looking for that total package we talked a little bit yesterday about the uh the production you're getting from some of these pickups but if you look at some of them you know it's like a second chance for a last chance for some of these guys maybe yeah they seem to be making the most well I I respect those guys I've talked to that about laurano I'm just going to Triple A and the fact that he was doing well and how he was playing got their attention and now he's getting an opportunity and you know going with it same thing with Gio it's you know I think these guys they get up there and they see how you know fragile this thing is and how important it is and and um they you know really take advantage of them good for them marfield yesterday playing the old team card but yeah kind of seems like he's doing what he's done most in his career yeah he's been you know a big pickup for us especially at the time that you know we got him when Azie went down and and um you know he just it's kind of like Gio I think finding a guy with the experience that both of those guys have to come in here and and it's been you know worked really well for us we kind of was talking about that bright fit you know he said he loved the city of Philadelphia he loved his teammates everything it just just didn't work out on the field there is that a it happens you know it happens and and um cuz I I know everything out of you know the Philly's Clubhouse and everything where they hated to lose him I mean they loved the guy and the teammate and all that didn't work out out for you know whatever reason and that happens and and um I'm glad we were around to you know to give him a job and and um because he's like I say he's done a really really nice job for us and um you know that's just why these guys never you know they never quit grinding they never you know they just they leave that uniform on Till Somebody tears it off of them because they love playing baseball they're ball players and and um you know some doesn't work for in one place a lot of times you never know what can happen in another one s I'm sure you've been asked this question a million times this season but with all the injuries to to only be six games back and face these guys again tonight potentially be five games back does that do anything for the the guys's confidence in there just knowing like hey yeah no they're excited I mean it's you hope that you're in a in a race this time of year you know as we getting on and rep poaching our six months here for long and you just hope that they G you know you're playing meaningful games this time of year and we are so that's a really good thing to keep you going and you know when you get up in the morning you want to get to the ballpark because it means something and because I've been on teams where it doesn't and this is a lot more fun to you know when you excited about coming to the ballpark CU you have a chance to do something all running in the outfit do you think tomorrow's a possibility yeah if he I think if he comes back in if he comes in tomorrow feeling good I'm hoping that that's what we can do it'll determine tomorrow you know everything's the next day so but it's been real positive the last couple days that's for sure again yeah about D he hit in the cage it's the throwings kind of popping the ball is the thing that's but he's getting better I mean he significantly better today than he was yesterday so if he had to play today he could go back there and catch and said the plan might be to uh do baseball activities early September is that better than you guys had initially thought has he healed faster or is what thought who Aussie you just I don't know we were we talking about Aussie he just asked oh I didn't know who you meant I thought I said aie no yeah I don't know about what his timeline is was it you know it's a little ahead of schedule with the cast off now is that that's good I think he you know I think actually Gary had talked about you know because his progressed and they did the um X-rays and everything it was healing pretty really good so yeah I mean you know they're they're young and strong and they're going to heal probably quicker than the norm so you know they just go by the X-rays I think and um so yeah can you feel good about getting a boost like that to the lineup or is he still too far off for you didn't think about it um well no it'll be a boost when he comes back whenever that is I mean I'm and you know whenever gets there we'll plug him in meanwhile the guys you got plugging in there doing a nice job huh defensively no defensively especially um it's you know we've been fortunate to have guys that have you know that we could plug in there in those situations and and um you know with the big league experience that they all both of those guys all three of the guys we're talking about have and and you know they're taking a good advantage of these opportunities so um you know got a a lot of respect for those guys that you know want to keep playing they just keep grinding and you know take advantage of their opportunities and and um and they filled in really well as marfield about that play that double play last night he said that's because that's so overrated that how hard it is for Short Stops in second base because that feet was right here that's why I talk to him when he's on deck and I like you you don't you usually turn that double play on Trey Turner and and what said he said I was shocked at how quick that ball got to me yeah you know and he did he made a strong and the one with his back to the infield that he ended up making but you know he was saying the same thing it's just like that ball just kind of jumped on him um to make it happen and he got a lot on his throw too yeah he said he was texting with t Turner Turner said I was running the whole way that was impressive no I said you just don't turn that double play that double play on him that that doesn't happen I love to see if he slipped out the box everything no cuz that kid you know he runs and he runs hard and always plays hard and it's just with his speed you just don't see that happen very often [Music] oh
