that time for praises and petitions any Praises any petitions today anything we're happy about or pray yes so I I am going on an adventure okay on Thursday I'm flying to htown South Africa for work I'm going to be there three weekends so about two we so um it doged on me a little while back that my 16-hour flight is over water the entire time um so definitely pray for all come back absolutely any other prayer orici yes it's good to see people like you back here I'm glad I'm back yes oh thank you God bless you it's good to see you well I'll I'll share my prayers since we kind of went into it a little bit a couple weeks ago I don't know if you remember I was up here and I said you know pray for me well why I did a sermon that's what it um and I was like pray for me because uh my life is changing right now and I'm I was looking for a job and I was offer a job offered a job for the next year um uh in music doing uh choir conducting at this church so I'm really excited about that so I'll be here for a little while longer so that's my praise any other praise or condition like my brother struggling with addic I have three great grandsons that needs bir they're all needing work I get that I'm just grateful that all my kids and grandkids are here today and also just whenever well school has started for Soma and I pray that she has a good year she and her friends and that they safe and also I col absolutely um uh like was saying we this church is not seasonal but the congregation size is and we're happy that it's uh The Fall season of school is starting again and we'll see that we'll see a lot more people here just because so many people go to schools at OU and uh surrounding colleges so we're happy about that any other prayers or my grandson's is turned the terrible twos this week two already wow yeah time passes yes hopefully they won't be they'll be amazing and not terrible at all any unspoken Praises any unspoken petitions let's pray together dear kind of living father you are the king of all you are our protector or guide or friend or father or big brother or everything and we come before you now to uh seek we coming before you now to petition to your throne of grace we ask for your mercy your grace your love to us as we stop this time to pray we ask for Jing mercies traveling 16 hours over water is only something that you can do only something that you can protect us from no matter how many times it happens it is only by your love and grace that that's possible as much as you've given uh your children opportunities to live and life and love you've given them opportunities to work much like myself and I ask that you grant those working opportunities in the upcoming weeks that you know what's best for everyone's life and you know the path that is best to be chosen so we ask that you guide and guard us through everything as we work and we go through lives we we sometimes struggle with different things and addiction is one of them and I pray that let us be addicted to you God let us not uh form unhealthy habits let us go to you and seek your grace and your power so that you can replace any any form of illness any form of addiction anything that is wrong with us we're grateful for this sabbath as we're seeing our congregation being filled up a little bit more we're grateful that a lot of our college students are coming back and we're grateful that we get to see smiling faces uh loving people a loving congregation and a loving Church to worship you please be with our speaker for today please grant us your love always in your name I pray amen me I thought I could be what I wanted to be I thought I could my s i without I can't even hold the mountains too high and the vallees too high down on my knees I learn to stand I without you hold I I on my I thought I could make it all alone I thought of myself as a mighty big man but I can't even without you holding my I can't without you holding my to the Val tode down on my knees I Le to stand but I can't even walk without you holding my hand Lord I even for without you holding my [Music] well you know the first first page of my sermon yeah see you can't answer the question I didn't I promise oh okay as you know this month we are looking at talking about what Sermon on the Mount yes thanks Larry and one of the things that we I always look at as well as everybody else who who are trying to uh look at this topic is that there's only about eight topics that's there and everybody's wondering okay we got to hear this again so everybody's wondering what what can you do make you know well it's one of the things to be able to that's why I've had my label yesterday today and tomorrow there are only two days of the year that nothing can be done anybody know what days those are yesterday one of them is yesterday one of them is tomorrow so it is right day to love believe do and mostly live this today anybody know who said that that's do Lama amazing how you can find different things in different places we are tormented tormented by past decisions and anxiety about tomorrow or the distant future is putting us over the edge these keep us from focusing on today we say we put our trust in God well let's look at somebody let's look at Abraham and Isaac as they near the mountain Abraham instructed the servants to stay behind while he and Isaac ascended Isaac spoke to his father Abraham father he said here I am he replied Isaac continued here is the fire and the wood W but where is the sheep for the burnt offering my son Abraham answered God will provide the sheep for the burnt offering then the two walked together now I don't know about you but if I was Isaac I'd be looking around real hard trying to figure out where that sheep was and you keep looking and there's not many places to look and so far you're going well father said there would be provided so okay they came to the place where God had told him to go and build an altar Abraham bound Isaac arranged the wood on the Altar and Drew his night to slay his son well at this moment I imagine Isaac is not really excited but yet puzzled but the angel of the Lord called to him from Heaven Abraham Abraham here I am he replied do not lay a hand on the boy said the angel do not do the least thing to him for now I know you fear God since you did not withhold me from me your son your only son where else do we he to say New Testament yeah sounds like something else that somebody else did for us now why was Abraham put through this did Abraham always trust God he told him he was going to have descendants like the grains of sand on a beach well what happened when he and Sarah got up we were getting a little thing we getting up in years so he decided to take things in his own hands and to try it on his own so maybe God was just kind of wondering going do you still you want to follow do you still want to say I believe I trust difficult way to find out Abraham noticed a ram caught by the horns in the thicket nearby and offered it to the Lord itself said he called the place Yahweh y meaning the Lord will provide like Abraham we should have confidence in God trusting him with everything and be willing to sacrifice our best to him though we may not not fully understand his plans he in his Providence supplies all our needs all he asks is for us to have a willing heart worry and anxiety are both mental processes that can trigger can be triggered by uncertainty however worry is usually more specific and grounded in reality where anxiety is often more generalized and can be manifested physically in the body we can make ourselves physically ill by worrying about the past decisions or create anxiety about the future results many of us don't want to think about those things everybody says I don't what difference does it make if God has everything in his hands and he has got all everything planned out and we trust him and we believe in him then what difference does it make who wins in November what difference does it make what North Korea is doing or Russia what difference does it make on what football team wins if God is has got all this already planned out and got it in his hands do you trust him then what is will be or do we have to help how many heard the story about the man who knew that uh he prayed to God or prayed to Christ and Christ came down and thought okay your life is a car so I'm going to drive it for you and the guy was sitting over next to the seat and knew that he was doing just fine and this looked pretty easy so he said Christ I think I can do this I can drive this car so if you let me he he's not going to say no so he took the wheel well guess what happened there was no time that he crashed here he is back in trouble again he yes okay Jesus Take the Wheel how many you know that song good song so Christ is back over the seat again and he's taking off going again it's not long that we all get to heal from our wounds and whatever's going on and our ego begins to crop up again and our confidence after all this is easy I can drive this car let me drive okay sure enough we crash again have you thought about your life on how many times that car has crashed how many times you keep asking him to take the wheel [Music] again anxiety worry what about being where we are in Oklahoma what about the young people now I'm talking Elementary AG what happened in more back in 2013 tornado EF5 bad went through briwood Elementary School in Plaza seven died a plaza children it'd be real easy to lose your faith in and lose your trust why what about those young people every time there's dark clouds and thunder and lightning do you think they're just going oh it's just a rainstorm or do you think they're remembering that day anxiety worry keeps us from focusing on today we say I put my trust in God how much all of it 50% 80% the biggest Arrow Satan uses against us is the same thing that yesterday today and tomorrow have in common do you know what that is time time is the greatest adversary as well as a friend somebody looked at time as an adversary somebody else thought it was just a companion to travel to be with you during the Journey of your life to always remind you that you'll never come this way again for those of you who don't know where that came from I'll tell you later if Satan can keep us busy with yesterday's regrets today's survival and tomorrow's possibilities there's no time for God and he's good he knows how to push your buttons he knows what concerns you what you have coming up what you're worried about for tomorrow or what has happened in the past past and he flashes those things before you trying to keep you off balance and trying to keep you busy it's like a magician what does a magician always say that they're trying to do to this Le watch this hand while this hand is doing the dirty work there's been lots of people that have done Magic on TV they've even thought looked at you know complete elephants are gone but once you know how it's done how they look at doing things with mirrors then you begin to understand that oh it also makes it easier on why that when you're trying to be a witness that the people look at you going well it's because nobody knows any more of what's true than what's a lie because if you tell a lie long enough we as the people believe it is true so it's difficult when you're talking about God that when you start to look at them they're going you say well what makes that right Bible and what makes your interpretation correct I used to get hung with that until I realized the Holy Spirit and there's only one Bible and there's only one interpretation and that's the Bible but as a kid it hung me up I didn't know what to do after that because all I knew is what they told me because at the time I didn't study that much then as I got older and began to learn more on my own I began to be able to be more positive more trusting more of trying to get today to stay on the important track this quote is attributed to Dale Carnegie remember today is The Tomorrow you worried about yesterday now you're going to have to say that over to yourself several times and still you're going to have to have something in your hands or something say okay today is tomorrow I worried about yesterday because sometimes it's very confusing but it's [Music] true they want to keep you busy look at Philippians chapter 4 in your Bible Philippians chapter 4 verses 4-7 so what are you going to do and how do you do it well rejoice in the lord always again I say rejoice let your Gentle Spirit be known to all men the Lord is near be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your request be made to God how do you do that pray prayer and the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension will guard hearts and Minds in Christ Jesus that's how you do it now which verse was or which theme was I looking at as far as Sermon on the Mount but to Matthew 6 verse 34 so do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will care for itself each day has enough trouble of its own we can also put that as far as sometimes it's difficult for us she as a friend of mine was always good at saying she was always wondering about this when I'd say something to her and she said no Michael stay in your [Music] lane well I had to think about that sometimes and she was right sometimes we kind of want to get in somebody else's Lane where they didn't ask for you to help they didn't ask for you to be there but in your own mind you're helping in their mind you're a stumbling block so Choose Wisely think about what it is that you want to do is what you should do so how do we keep our thoughts on the right things well let's continue with Paul in Philippians again chapter 4 if you're still there we just read on 8-9 finally Brothers whatever is true whatever is Honorable whatever is right whatever is pure whatever is lovely whatever is of good repute if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of Praise dwell on these things there's where your mind should [Music] be now you know how do you stay in today try to fight it off as far as Satan's arrows on regrets from yesterday and worries about tomorrow God's got this what's the song He's Got The Whole World where Amen to that the things you have learned received heard and seen in me practice these things and the God of Peace will be with you Amen in closing let's sing 550 eight
