Is Kyle Dake next to join David Taylor? / A former Penn State wrestler heads to Oklahoma State

a former Penn State wrestler is following David Taylor and joining Oklahoma State's RTC program and at this point everyone's probably wondering is Kyle Dake going to be next you are locked on nit Lions your daily podcast on the Penn State nit Lions part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day that former Penn State wrestler is Roman Bravo young going out to still water with David Taylor making another Splash move and the spotlight is naturally going to turn to Kyle D this is lockon nney Lions I am your host Zach Seiko and thanks so much for making us your first listen and watch each and every day we are free and available wherever you get your podcasts including YouTube talk about the impact of this and what moves could happen in the immediate future if there are any more moves behind rby and let me know your thoughts down in the comments section a part of the conversation who do you think is next to follow David Taylor as for Kyle Dake everybody's going to be looking to him to make that next move and potentially join Oklahoma State and right now from what I'm gathering what I'm seeing it's not a matter of if it's just a matter of when and it doesn't sound like it's going to happen all that soon so will it happen eventually yes but it's not going to happen in a matter of days in a matter of months potentially something that's down the road in another off seon so think of 2025 and and for what it's worth Kyle Dake does enjoy working with kale Sanderson okay that the part of the reason is yes he joined the nitty line wrestling club to work with kale Sanderson and others but you can't deny the fact that David Taylor was one of the biggest reasons why he ended up in Happy Valley with nlwc and that relation ship that connection is still strong but why isn't this happening right now why wouldn't Kyle D behind rby to create some momentum to build that with David Taylor at Oklahoma State why isn't this happening right now well he just got finished with the Olympics I I know rby did but rby is clearly at a different stage in his career Dake just won a bronze medal a second bronze medal of his wrestling career and a little further down the road Roman Bravo young definitely has uh you know an uphill battle in this case to continue to further his wrestling career and we'll we'll talk more about rby in the upcoming segment for Kyle Dake though he is further along in his wrestling career just won a bronze medal but kind of like David Taylor has a similar situation in the fact of remember when David Taylor was rumored originally before he actually accepted the job remember he was rumored to Oklahoma State but then the initial indications were that you know no and then Oklahoma State counter offered and then there was a counter offer and a counter offer until to a point he just he absolutely couldn't say no he could not refuse and that's what happened because David Taylor built a life in State College he has a family he has he had a gymnasium right and then he was able to take all those things that mattered most to him and then start over in Oklahoma State now with of course the head coaching job at with the wrestling program and Kyle dick has a similar situation he has a family He Is Anchored in State College so Kyle Dake like David Taylor would have to uproot not only his own life but his family's life wife and kids and that that is a big change that is a big move especially when you know you move from New York you move to State College and you just get acclimated but him and David Taylor have an incredible relationship a friendship a Business Partnership right they have all these connections together it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when I don't see it happening from what I've gathered in the near future could this happen in the off season in 2025 maybe it's even pushed a year further out I think within a year a move like this where Dake joins Taylor out in Still Water Oklahoma does in fact happen are there any other names to watch in doing some research and having some conversations uh potentially potentially there is one other name to keep an eye on at least for the moment and that's Morgan McIntosh former three-time All-American at Penn State join join the Army Morgan of course thank you for your service that is a name to potentially watch who could follow Roman Bravo young in the future as David Taylor continues to build this RTC program but that's the thing Oklahoma State isn't in a rebuild or building from the ground up or not even in a Reload period it's already kind of adding to what the program has David Taylor's just capitalizing on his connections and then what Oklahoma state has been able to provide him as well but that's where everything kind of stands at this point Kyle D's not an immediate move if you're looking for an immediate move keep an eye on Morgan McIntosh now what about the impact of Roman Bravo young and K is Penn State going to be able to withstand these moves Jimmy Kennedy Thomas Gilman of course David Taylor we know that but now Roman Bravo young who is a former two-time NCAA Champion an Olympic qualifier recently and a four-time All-American in college that's a lot to to make up for we'll talk about the impact of RB's move on the other side of this break today's episode is brought to you by ibata ibata is a free app you got to do is visit fanduel.com lockon and download America's number one sports book and I use FanDuel personally myself if you look at fanduel.com right now you can see lines for Penn State versus West Virginia and there there been some line movement in favor of the Mountaineers they are now a 9 and 1 Half Point Underdog so Penn State is the favorite n and 1 12 points with the total moving to 51 a half if you like those lines you can bet them right now at fanduel.com again that is FanDuel America's number one sports book so the move by Roman Bravo young to go out to Oklahoma state to join David Taylor honestly isn't all that surprising and there's a variety of reasons here but I'll start with easily the biggest one here and it has to do the same thing with Kyle D and David Taylor it's all about relationships Jimmy Kennedy going with David Taylor Thomas Gilman right guys that had an impact on Roman Bravo Young's wrestling career while he was at Penn State and then ultimately you know staying with a nitty lion wrestling club here that that's a big reason of it Jimmy Kennedy coaching him Thomas Gilman working with him those two training together that has an impact and rby is going when when you have those strong relationships you're going to want to continue to have those and Roman Bravo young is still in the prime part of his wrestling career just had an appearance right he just qualified for the Olympics again even though he didn't perform the way he had wanted to and anybody else that is a Penn State wrestling nitty line wrestling club fan would have liked to see he knows that he can build upon that with for future World Championships he's only 25 he'd be 29 for the next Olympic cycle right so th this move this adjustment in his career makes sense if those fellow wrestlers guys that he was working with helped him become a better wrestler it's very understandable why he would want to stick with them and making a move to Oklahoma State I don't think really changes much as far as the environment goes again it goes back to the base of it the relationship I think there's also an element of this too uh is the fact that uh he is from Tucson Arizona originally family friends that are back home that he now closer right geography Oklahoma is closer to Arizona than Pennsylvania is so that could play a factor in it as well so overall rby going to Oklahoma State to work with Gilman Taylor Kennedy makes a lot of sense here is not surprising at all in in the slightest and and this move coming after the Olympics I know that Kyle Dake is probably going to wait to make a move like that rby I think has a little more flexibility in this case to jump from Penn State or the nitty line wrestling club to Oklahoma State's RTC program for the impact of this move on Penn State because I mean this is this is a big deal this is a former two-time NCAA Champion a former All-American former recent Olympic qualifier that is leaving Happy Valley to go to still water that is a big deal especially when you consider the context of it Roman Bravo young is a lightweight and recent memory has shown us that Penn State hasn't had the best track record with lighter weight classes okay yes rby anchored it down at 133 and yes I know that rby anchored the 133 spot for a long time but that's my point is that Penn State specifically with 125 I mean that was an afterthought that was a struggle they essentially punted that weight class and focused on the other nine but I I hope people are understanding that my point is that Penn State's had an uphill battle in terms of recruiting and developing that lighter weight class and now you lose another personality another strong wrestler that's in that part you know yeah 125 133 are different but there still lighter weights and now Roman Bravo young who had such a strong presence in that spot Jimmy Kennedy Thomas Gilman all those guys right so Penn State's going to have to regroup it's not something it's not something that they can't overcome again Braden Davis showing promise himself as a current Collegiate wrestler but my point is those things matter you can't deny the fact that Kennedy was a great coach for the lighter weight classes Thomas Gilman was great to have in the wrestling room rby same terminology applies here and now all of those guys obviously Braden Davis is still on the team but all of those guys have moved on here and Penn State you know this is where a Nick Lee it's his time to shine what impact is he going to have as an active assistant coach a presence in just the wrestling room period but again this is something that Penn State can and most likely will overcome it's just going to take some work it's going to take some work and this is obviously uh not a good thing it's not good news for Penn State to continue to lose wrestlers who are in those lighter weight classes where they just have struggled in recent memory or haven't had the exact success that they would have liked to and then there's another piece of the puzzle that I don't want to be be overlooked here as well in this conversation yes Roman Bravo Young's moving on to Oklahoma State there's a speculation that Kyle Dake and other wrestlers could follow David Taylor and that's the present but what about the future what about the future that's recruiting Bo Basset Jax Forest those names that are local to Pennsylvania what kind of push is Oklahoma State going to make for them I don't know that Penn State's exact a shoe in to land commitments from the top wrestlers in the class of 2026 you would like to think so kale Sanderson of course has been on top it's the Penn State Dynasty but don't lock in don't just assume that just be oh they're local to Pennsylvania they've been around Penn State for quite some time right it's that's an easy recruiting path for kale Sanderson and Company again it's all about relationships does kale Sanderson and Penn State's current coaching staff have the best relationships with a guy a wrestler like Bo Basset a wrestler like Jax forest or David Taylor so watch out for this recruiting battle because it is not a guarantee that kale Sanderson and Penn State are going to be able to land names like Bo Basset and Jax Forest when David Taylor is doing what he's doing at Oklahoma State and oklah Oklahoma state has clearly giving him is giving him everything he needs and More in terms of wrestling resource I'm not talking about him being one of the high you know the highest paid wrestling coach in all of the NCAA I'm talking about what they are giving him in terms of assets with the wrestling program that's going to go a long way as well Oklahoma State's not going anywhere and neither is David Taylor and this makes for an interesting debate an interesting battle Brewing I think over the next 5 years here between p State and Oklahoma State that'll do it for this edition of locked on nitty lions please let me know your thoughts down in the
