WATCH: Garrett Greene speaks with the media following WVU's 34-12 loss to Penn State

okay we have quarterback Garrett green questions for Garrett G obviously missed opportunities early any explanation how it happened why it happened no just just got to be better what happened on the drop snaps um just just like you know first first real re real game with with with with the Yates and you know I messed up the timing on on one of them um so it's it's on me they both on you what's the message to the team after today yeah you know everything we we want is still still in front of us um you know we're still a good football team um and they're a good football team and you know they whooped our asses today that's that's it ask a little bit of this to others do you think maybe OV excited not just you but as a team going into this you guys wanted this so badly um not really I feel like we had a good week of prep um and all that but you know it just comes down to until we didn't execute at at the right times what's a delay like that like as a quarterback yeah I mean the the delay is obviously not ideal um just because you have to go sit for for a while um and it's almost like starting the game off again um but you know I mean the we we didn't execute well enough before or after the break NE City but you had the um first down on the sneak do you do you have a feel for it I mean you're sort in a cluster it's hard to tell yeah I mean I think I got it um but you know it's obviously not my call and state do anything that caused you guys problems any issues that you not not really I mean they're a talented football team um you know from from top to bottom they're they're really really good and you know they're they're one of the top teams in the country for for a reason um you know they have really good players and we didn't execute at a high enough level today Brown talked about a lot of what did end up happening today was what he was expecting you guys worked on from even what Kansas used to do because of the coaching situation you didn't start in that game a couple years ago but did you does that does is that accurate for you did you see a lot of things you guys worked on from even the Kansas um I mean I don't know the the OC was from Kansas so I don't uh yeah I don't I don't know I'm not on that side of the ball would Carter coming off the edge you have to pay a lot of attention and in ID him all the time uh I mean not not too too much I think why why did did a great job uh when he was in there um I think he only had one pressure today um so I think W did a great job of of kind of kind of handling that tough when he's out though yeah I mean obviously he's he's the best left tackle in America um there's no question about that so when he's not in there you know it definitely is tougher he when things go bad for an offense you might have like you get tackled or just something normal happens but when it's stuff that you don't expect that's uncharacteristic but that sounds like today um how do you navigate that and and does it rally you at all when it is unexpected and not something you're used to produ it yeah no I mean I think I think we just didn't do do a good enough job you know overcoming those those plays um you know and last year we I think we did a pretty good job of kind of overcoming mistakes and you know things like that and today we just didn't do good enough job feel like you were close to some big plays Neil said that some of the miscues came where you had a shot play Maybe dialed up or something there and then you know were those instances of being really close or were there other ones out there too that you felt like you left in the table yeah I mean I I haven't watched the tape yet um so so I don't know for sure but you know even the first play of the game you know we were you know a yard off basically you know if I flatten tayin Ray off you know a yard he probably catches that and it's a 30 yard gain to to start the day off um so I mean there's probably a good bit more of those plays um but I have to watch the tape in to know for sure you guys a veteran team obviously how important is that going to be over the next week too yeah it's going to be it's going to be super important um you know it's kind of on the leaders of the team to kind of write the ship and you know understand that all of our goals of playing in Dallas and and doing that are still in front of us um and you know it's on us to to kind of get the guys going did you speak to the team after kind of say all that or um I mean I don't think right now is the the time nor the place to do it um you know there'll be opportunities down down the road but you know we're not going to hit the panic button um we we we know we we didn't execute at a high enough level I know I didn't play good enough to to beat a team like that um so we'll be back to work tomorrow uh getting ready for Albany there's a lot of attention on red zone offense leading up to the season what stuck out you that wentong I guess in that area today yeah we just you know if I'm not sure the the official numbers but if you look at at Red Zone Third Downs you know they they were really really good at them and we were really really bad at them today um so we just got to continue to improve that um and continue to get better what's the feeling of this loss compared to that of last year um I mean losing always sucks I mean there's there's no other way to put it um you know so every loss sucks just just the same as the other one how do you feel they defended your running whether design plays or scrambles yeah I think I think they they were running like this cover one spy um where I I think they they did a great job of kind of containing me and you know containing my my running ability um but you know I should be able to be beat teams with my arm thank you very much here thank you guys that's it
