Chargers, Jags, Steelers lead Defense (D/ST) Start Em / Sit Em for Week 2 | Rotoworld | NFL on NBC

which defense should you Target in week number two and who should you avoid we'll go over all of that in this week's episode of pick three DST as a reminder these are not my full weekly DST rankings if you want to check those out you can click the link below then I'll take you to the article that I update as the week goes on we get weather information injury updates and things like that we're going to start with our accountability check which we do every single week and it was admittedly not a great week number one but I expect us to hit on more as the season goes on and we get a better sense of the true Talent of these teams our stud defense Cincinnati Bengals scored just two points and lost outright to the Patriots which I think shocked a lot of people um our solid defense the Tamp Bay Bucks scored Four Points despite throttling the Washington commanders and our sleeper defense the Houston Texans scored just four points and it's possible I need to put a lot more respect on Anthony Richardson's name especially when it comes to starting defenses against him um as many have pointed out the defense I faded the Chicago Bears was the top scoring defense of the week um and yes it is possible that I was too confident in the the Titans offense but it's also important to note that the Bears scored a lot of their points on a pick six and a block punt return for a touchdown and while you love that if you rostered the Bears defensive touchdowns like that and special teams touchdowns are really hard to count on week over week um so we should just keep that in mind before we consider the Bears an elite defense going forward but it is important to note that we should be picking on defenses against the Titans or at least that's what it looks like so far now on to week number two my sleeper defense of the week is the Jacksonville Jaguars consensus has them down at 17th but I have them at 9th on the week this Browns offense looked really bad in week number one DeShaun Watson doesn't look any better than he did last year Jerome Ford is fine but he is a big step down from a healthy Nick chub um and this Browns offense had just 230 yards and 3.3 yards uh per play against the Cowboys in week number one uh the Cowboys also registered six sacks and forced uh two interceptions now I know the Jaguars allowed 400 yards to the Dolphins but they held the Dolphins to just 20 points they sacked skinny to tag of ioa three times and I think that it's pretty clear the Dolphins offense has a lot more Firepower than the Browns offense um I expect the Jaguars defense to be able to kind of keep this Browns offense in check a little bit and while I don't think it's a smash spot I think they're in a pretty good spot for a safe floor option which will put them into the top 10 this week before I get to my solid option pause this video comment below let me know which defense you're rolling in week number two or ask me any fantasy questions you have and I'll get to those as the week goes on my solid defense for week number two is the Los Angeles Chargers consensus has them at seventh and I have them up at Fourth on the week now I know it's been for years we've been trying to lean into the Chargers defense and getting burdened by them year-over-year so I understand if you might be gun-shy in putting the Chargers into your lineup however if we look at what the Chargers did against the Raiders and what the Saints did to the Panthers you have to feel really confident about using the Chargers this week the Chargers limited the Raiders to points on just 15.4% of their drives in week number one that was the best rate of any defense in the NFL um they also generated three turnovers and recorded four sacks meanwhile the Panthers look bad on offense yet again uh Bryce young still looks a little bit overmatched at the NFL level has trouble reading defenses I think Deontay Johnson is really the only truly solid player on that offense um and so I'm happy to use the Chargers to attack the Panthers this week and I think they could put up a top five performance for you my stud defense of the week is the Pittsburgh Steelers consensus has them down at Fourth but they are my number one ranked defense on the week the Steelers looked good in week number one they scored 12 defensive points according to fantasy pros scoring thanks to holding the Falcons to 10 points um while registering two sacks seven quarterback hits and recovering a fumble that was against the Falcons offense that we expect to take a big step forward in 2024 and we really don't expect that from the Broncos offense I know the Broncos gave the Seahawks a little bit of a scare but the offense didn't really look that good um and rookie quarterback B knck was far from impressive he was just two of 12 for 42 yards and two interceptions when he attempted passes more than 10 yards down the field um I think that Mike Tomlin and this defense is going to get after him with TJ watt putting pressure on him from the outside and if bonick is trying to push the ball down the field we've seen that that's not really going to go well as of now at the NFL level and so I think the Steelers are in a smash spot for us in week number two before we get to the defense I'm fading just a reminder to click below to like And subscribe to get pick three DST every single week and the rest of our football and fantasy football content over at NBC Sports uh the defense I'm fading for week number two is the Kansas City Chiefs consensus has them at 9th and I have them down at 16th on the week now I get why people have the Chiefs ranked High they're generally a pretty strong defense and the Bengals looked really bad in losing to the Patriots in week number one but it's just one week and it's the Bengals they still have Joe burrow they still have Jamar Chase T hiin should be back for week number two there's still Talent on this side of the ball and so I even though there's been a lot of off field drama which I think impacted the Bengals in week number one I'm not ready to write them off as a poor offense overall uh you also know the Bengals are going to come into this game looking to kind of put up a lot of points they really don't want to go 0 and2 I think they're going to give their best effort to the Chiefs and so I understand that we want to we might want to pick on the Bengals after the poor week one showing I'm just not ready to trust the Chiefs against an offense that I think could still be one of the top offenses in the league when everything starts to click so I'll be letting other people take the risk on Kansas City this week that's going to do it for this week of Pick 3 DST I'll be back every week to give you three defenses I like and
