Eagles Nick Sirianni on AJ Brown OUT vs TB: “He fought like crazy…won't be able to rip it this week”

is out and how that will affect you if so uh yeah you know uh AJ um it was going to be a stretch for AJ to play um he did everything he possibly could to get himself ready obviously you all saw the reports um yeah it's not looking like he's going to he's going to go but he fought like crazy to try to do everything he could do um to do so which doesn't surprise me at all about AJ uh he's tough and he'd do anything for his teammates uh unfortunately he won't be able to uh to rip it this week ideally do you want one guy to kind of fill that spot or or will it be a rotation yeah no you all know what I'm going to say it's going to be similar to when you ask me about Dallas or you know whoever else it'll be it'll be different guys you know and really excited about our guy I mean I think that's been it's big time strength of our one of our big strengths as a team is the pass catchers we have right and when you look at it you think about AJ you think about Dallas you think about um Devonte um and then you think about DeAndre uh the role that he has as well um you know and I I even mentioned in Julio and uh and those guys and and quz and Oz who've made plays throughout the year as well so excited for those guys to get a little bit more opportunity you know um obviously you always miss uh uh the contributions that that AJ makes he's a phenomenal player um but really excited about the opportunity and I know we got you know one one reason we're we're in this game and in this position is because of the pass catchers we have that that in addition to AJ Brown about how you did last week how you approached last week no no um you know my you know we we went through it like you guys asked me before why did we do it you know not knowing what the the game was you know wanting to put a good output on there you know I know that those things didn't either of those things happened um but no you know there obviously you can look back on anything um at that time I did what I thought was best for the team and I'll stick by that and uh you know so I don't regret am I upset that AJ's not playing because he got you know he got dinged in that that game of course I am um but you know I don't second guess that decision at what point did you guys know at what point at what point did you guys know that AJ would be out I don't think that's fair I don't think that's relevant well what time did the planning kind of start whenever you yeah we we we made plans with or you know with them and without them um I won't get into hey we knew this day or that day so like I said he fought all week um to try to to try to get ready it was always going to be a stretch we always knew it was going to be a stretch um and uh yeah he he won't be in what are your op how did you assess Jaylen throwing the ball yesterday and does that give you more confidence that he'll be more him you know what you come to expect on Monday yeah uh I thought we had a really good practice as a team Jaylen had a good practice um you know uh obviously that's going to he's always going to be everyone's going to be fighting through things he's fighting through the the finger injury and uh you know but he had a good practice yesterday so excited for for him and his this opportunity really excited I mean the the energy and the uh juice in this building today of of being here in the playoffs again uh we're really excited I can't we can't wait we can't wait to be in this game and uh you know against a really good opponent but shoot you play a long you play a long season to get to this moment right here and and we're really excited to go when it comes to challenges uh with a an injury like that is it in from your perspective is it more from the throwing or being able to know handle the ball yeah good question um I think it's every everything you think about uh in those I mean you've seen I remember um remember Carson Palmer a couple years ago uh remember he would hand the ball off like this he had some thumb injury on his right hand so he would hand it off backhandedly um so I mean anytime with a finger injury or a hand injury or any sort you think about all those different things like I said he had a good practice yesterday he was able to go back into the game um and I know how tough he is and how uh you know how much grit he has to fight through fight through different things so um yeah I believe I believe in in Jaylen and and um I believe in the guy Kevin vard said that Avante played some safety with Reed being out what why do you like him there yeah that that that he's kind of Avante plays all over the place and get reps guys all over the place there's times where you know um we go to four wide Personnel you know just to get some some different looks there but that doesn't mean that doesn't really mean anything you're getting guys reps at different spots sometimes you work dime and so um Kevin plays dime which means he's playing linebacker right so it's guys mix around there Avante has flexibility um and so we rep guys at different spots throughout the week to to make sure that you know obviously in U obviously different than college football we can only have you know 50 guys up 49 or whatever it is uh 48 um and so you have to rep different guys at different spots right and that's the same thing on special teams um you know today we'll we'll we'll rep our our emergency quarterback out there um to take reps um you know behind Jaylen and Marcus and Tanner we should have an emergency quarterback after that and so you you do that with every position um you know DeAndre working in the in the slot um you know you just have different things like that throughout throughout your game plan of guys getting reps um and so yeah I don't I feel confident with Avante everywhere because ivante is a really good player um yeah you're doing so because you're potentially down two safeties we do so every week like that that's safties down is going to re but we do so moves at the position yeah but we do so like that stuff every week you know and so yeah I'm not um that's just that's just standard operating procedure how's Reed coming along and what's the plan for syy Brown's roster spot uh yeah obviously we'll we'll make a decision we still have time to make a decision on Sydney's uh roster spot um you know still we'll go through practice today we'll go through the you know just the rest of the the rest of the week and make that decision um don't have any information for you on there as far as Reed he's he's progressing um you know he's got a chance uh probably be you know probably be a little bit more of a game time decision with him and uh um but he's going to he's going to go out there and work today we'll see how he feels we'll work again tomorrow probably work out on the field on on the day you know Monday night and so uh you know we're hopeful um that he can go uh but
