everybody ready okay uh first of all thank you all for being here tonight we greatly appreciate the support and to be able to get the message out obviously everything is still unfolding right now so we hope that you'll respect the fact that we're not going to be taking any questions but we want to tell you the information that we know it right now in terms of our investigation on the 29th at about 10:10 p.m. we were called Dallas police officer were called to an officer in distress call in the 900 block of East Le better drive when our officers arrived they found a Dallas police officer who had been shot in his marked Patrol vehicle responding officers then exchanged gunfire with a suspect at that scene and two officers were shot at that scene all three were taken to local hospitals one of those officers is listed in stable condition one officer is listed in critical condition and one officer died from his injuries this evening that suspect then fled the scene our officers pursued that Pursuit uh ended in Louisville in the 1,000 block of stemon freeway the preliminary investigation is showing them when that suspect exited that vehicle he had a long gun uh Dallas police officers then shot at the suspect fired at the suspect and he died at that scene obviously the investigation is ongoing we have obviously scenes here in Dallas and also in Lewisville that we're investigating at this time so that will be continuing throughout uh this morning and and through the day one more thing that I'll add and I think that you see that from the support that we have behind us and from our city our city leaders is that our department is hurting we have officers who are injured who are in the hospital and we lost one of our own we ask tonight and this morning for the thoughts and prayers of our city for not only those who are recovering in the hospital but for our fallen for their family and for their loved ones and for us as the department as well Chief Garcia will obviously be able to update um um in in the coming days on the investigation uh and and on our fallen and on the officers who are injured uh that's all that we have for this evening and we want to really appreciate all the support that we have with you guys being here and to get our message out uh to the city for for their support to thank them for their support uh and that we will have that update from Chief Garcia coming soon okay thank you all can we expect that today we'll let you know it'll be on the blog when we have that update for you you'll come anything that we have you'll have any update on the blog
