all right um yeah this is a patreon request from Scott we've been doing a tragically hit but then he said this obviously because we do a lot of pal jar too so it's combined in Two Worlds um but yeah God Downey I always I always could never remember that name it just never goes in my head going down it always think is Gordy something um but yeah go down the and tragically hip dedication light years by Pearl Jam and again Eddie Vedder knows everybody everybody but yeah let's go so there's something going on up in North north tonight [Applause] involves somebody that in a way that we consider a family member just because uh this is part of the group of tour musicians that we've met over the years and they were uh there's a guy who's got a band called Tragically Hip [Applause] lucky for some of us he did some recording with a guy that we recorded with all the time in Seattle and uh I got to spend a few days with him and uh we uh we were all [Applause] informed of some sad news that he had a really tough form of uh brain cancer called it glioblastoma which some of us know a lot about and that's front if not one of the toughest ones and he was very courageous and and decided to take his group out on One Last Tour and tonight's the last night of that run so they're up there going through the emotions up there and I I just want to send them our energy from our gathering up to their Gathering up there [Applause] [Music] this will be they should be very interesting to see how Eddie Vedder does this because he's a very uh God Downey is a very unique uh very unique individual let's be honest very unique way of writing very unique way of singing and and delivering a track but yeah let's go [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] excited [Music] [Applause] [Music] days [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] every second [Music] [Applause] around [Music] me [Applause] come here [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] of course this is it say 2016. yeah what is interested about that is he seems to have pre I don't know I don't know when this song came out no I'm not joking we had uh probably five years stint of bands that in the UK that sounded like that sounded like that type of song now I think he's obviously done it before but here it was interesting it was more like because I was I didn't know whether would kind of try and show money like um go down he does but he kind of stuck and played um played the track but you can see people just wearing their t-shirts and but people said that they're probably bigger in Canada than Rush is Right Rush is obviously bigger around the world I mean Russia's huge even though I'd never heard of him well I know but um they are huge without doubt but then yeah you've got this band and it definitely seems that their um Canada's a pride of Canada a jewel in the crown of Canada is um tragically hip and Gord the only people love him um but that's crazy as well that he he got a brain like a real severe brain cancer and for now I've gotta do it's a bit like Bowie asking it with Bowie when he found out he was dying and he went in the studio and recorded that album to come out after he died and I think that's the first time an artist has done that in it to make an album knowingly knowing that you're not going to be around to see it come out and to want it released after yeah that's a crazy thing but to go on to like there's one thing to work on an album when you're sick and though you're dying is one thing but the goal on tour but then I know maybe it's been over it been a while for him since he thought I don't know lost the thing they're another band I don't only think about so it's like we're just gonna have to watch some ducks or little short things on them because yeah it um uh well you just know what it's like if you're into bands and you're into artists and musicians or what have you you first get to know them through their art form whatever whichever it may be but then after why you kind of start to go well what was going on like where like it was the same with me with all the grunge bands with even Rush with Frank Zappa like these bands I knew nothing about so once you kind of once you settle into the fact you go all right I like this band then you but then you need to go but I don't I like this band I don't know anything of their history their time in um what yeah so maybe that could be a thing that we do for him is do a documentary on him and the band and watch their kind of um or whatever I don't really know that trajectory across Canada I suppose um but I swear to God Eddie Vedder knows everybody it seems he's friends with everybody loves Eddie Vedder everybody he says he must be like because to have that amount of people and no one well actually I've got a video what the elephant what do the people who do Eddie Vedder no you're right girl you're chilling um but yeah yeah I didn't know that story that he ended we're having a brain tumor and that's a couple of tour that's a lot that is a lot of like not even the the actual doing the shows it's the it's the traveling and I mean the shitty conditions and somebody's sick yeah but then I suppose if it's what you really love doing then it's what what you're gonna do do you know what I mean is if you've got if this tell you you've got x amount of time left I think well might as well spend it doing something I love but yeah maybe some little dots about him some little short box or a whole documentary I'll do a whole documentary on him but yeah that's the reaction so we
