Oasis Cardiff is a charity which aims to help refugees and asylum seekers and despite lockdown is providing as much service as possible and one of those services is food whether that's deliveries or even food to be taken away but Oasis is also helping its clients get into the drink and food industry by offering training and experience and although kovat has mostly put a stop to this cake during manager matt is optimistic for the future because we don't have the clients that come through the door that would have done pretty covert it's really hard to to reach them and get them involved within volunteering in the kitchen and also volunteering with other catering outlets we are very fortunate though that we have got a wealth of staff that worked within the the kitchens at Oasis and the vast majority of those have gone through a volunteering process and training and skill development process with us if they did after this crisis want to go on and find work further afield from Oasis that they they can't you can help them cooking is really important for people I think it's a way of keeping control in a situation they don't necessarily have a lot of control with and they're able to communicate those things I know that I'm very much looking forward to the time in which we can get back to providing our catering services and I think that is that is echoed by some of the regular volunteers that worked on the project is there a feeling of you know regardless of what's going on we're gonna get through this together although we are physically separated from the clients I feel that we are still connected to them and people still see Oasis as home visit ever anything that anyone needs dropping on food at someone's door or if they just wanna have a chat or if they need some advice then people know that there it will always be someone there Oh a system help them
