shout out to the tax dollars that y'all want but you're not paying your student loan anyways uh if you're already enrolled in the save plan again you're interest free um forbearance until they make a ruling the eth Circuit Court ruling addresses just one of two lawsuits currently being litigated to determine the save plan's fate in the 10th Circuit Court my assumption is this is still oh wait hold on let's look at the circuit courts again cuz that was the a circuit court I didn't know the eighth was okay yeah that this is just talking about Missouri so that's in the eth Circuit Court I believe they're talking about here no the 10 Circuit Court my bad y'all wow this stuff is shaped so funny share this screen real quick so we we look here and we got the eighth with Missouri right here and the gold in the middle and then we got the 10th technically being Kansas interesting shout out to Maryland the fourth anyways okay that's I didn't interesting how that shape I guess you got 1 two 3 four yeah that's five six kind of say n on once you get yeah four once you get out of four it makes no sense I don't know why 11th is where Atlanta I mean where Georgia is at being one of the anyways so by the 10 Circuit Court of Appeals uh in Kansas issues a different ruling if they issue a different ruling Supreme Court may have to step in again Jordan and I were discussing this on the the last court and full effect episode as far as the Supreme Court we talking about the checks and balances of the government you know people complain about 2025 and in short Supreme Court just doesn't just doesn't make a ruling on things things have to get kicked up to the Supreme Court and the Circuit Court of Appeals is the highest level of um Arial system in short before The Supreme Court and as I was just saw on that map the uh circuit courts cover a handful EST state so if there's a ruling for example in District Four which is where we're at in Maryland that supersedes not supersedes that that resides presides over the other states within that District so that'd be Virginia West Virginia North Carolina and South Carolina and DC it looks like here possibly they're in the fourth one but in short what that means is if something happens in North Carolina if it get kicked up to the Circuit Court level and they make a ruling there then that ruling now is over technically where I'm at here in Maryland because we're underneath that court and so they can use that as reference and so that's you know how other states can sort of impact you on your local level which is why your local elections are very important all right um if they make a different ruling you know we'll see what happens and the Supreme Court might step in but if the 10 circuit court rules against the Biden Administration it's unlikely the save plan will be able to move forward according to the student borrow protection Center shout out to the student borrow protection Center if you want to protect student borrowers stop making students borrow be like don't borrow money anymore shobs in the military they pay for you go to college anyways we are assessing the ruling and will be in touch directly with borrowers about how this will affect them the federal student a website read or reads as of Friday interesting they're gonna reach out to y'all see what happens how's that communication been going what happens next for borrowers over 400,000 borrowers have already had their debt forgiven under the save plan so man 400,000 borrowers have their debt forgiven under the save plan but it's 40 million Bor borrowers in toal total so again that's 1% so I mean hey could be 0% right could be 4,000 we're looking at at least it's 400,000 so not even half a million though of people had their student loans forgiven under the save plan nearly eight million had enrolled in the program excuse me excuse me not 400 million 400,000 8 million had enrolled in the program so even even then 400,000 what is that is it so yeah for 5% so I only 5% of people that even enrolled got a forgiven so again you're looking at less nine out of 10 chance tops I mean a lot of you wouldn't risk your life on a coin flip y'all y'all have better odds risking your life on a coin flip at least you got 5050 odds messing around with the student loan debt you got nine out of 10 chance that is not going to be in your favor and it's more more than a nine out of 10 chance like a 95 96 97 out of 100 chance literal percentage that your debt is not going to get discharged borrowers had their debt discharged who have their Deb discharge will not be impacted okay administr okay so they're they're saying O again Jordan I was talking about this on the last episode we were saying how Trump could get in you know if he was you know Pro doing this forgiveness he would just like assign he would just assign an executive order and just like have everyone's student loan debt forgiven then later on he'd be told that hey you can't do that you know they reverse it this is saying even though Biden put this in place and they ruled you know or they're working on ruling that it shouldn't be in effect and that's why it's on pause the people who had their student loan debt discharged are not going to be impacted so their debt is still going to be discharged even if it comes out and it's going to it seems like stay discharged unless they make a rule in to like put it back on the books based off of this even though they're saying now like hey you want just kind of like illegal looks like here those already enrolled in the save plan in place in forbearance can rest knowing they don't have a payment due for the time being don't rest knowing you don't have a payment due you need to be making your payments and pay off your student loan debt I don't this this is the rhetoric right people people won't pay off their debt and they get mad the debt still sits there and you got 95% chance right 400,000 out of 8 million people who are in the save plan got their student loan debt forgiven that doesn't mean that you're in the save plan you're going to get your student loan debt forgiven right that's not how the plan work but still the same concept applies when it comes to the 120 as far as the um the student loan forgiveness for the 120 payment qualifying payments if the save plan remains unavailable other income driven repayment plans may still be option for borrowers looking to lower their monthly payments but application for those programs are closed as a Friday morning as well what a troll statement yeah we got other programs out here but right now they're closed as well as a save plan I want to be very clear the other plans in general suck that's why they came out with a save plan if other income driven repayment plans were better options why wouldn't they just have those and not have created the save plan it makes no sense to tell people hey we don't have the save plan anymore but at least you have these other plans no you made the save plan because these other plans aren't as good as it I mean it's simple logic here activist groups have called on the Biden Administration to shut down the student loan system until borrowers have access to the rights they were promised under the law Mike Pierce executive director of the student borrow protection Senator said in a statement the course decision just went just sent the student loan system into chaos and borrowers will be forced to pay the price Pier said is clear that the Biden Administration can and must protect borrowers from this partisan law laware oh okay that's again I told you was going be a quick article again uh if you're enrolled in the save plan you may not have a payment due for now what borrowers need to know published July 19 2024 by Cameron Cameron McNair again
