I've been hearing all this Buzz about an amazing little horror movie that has come out of Ireland recently so I got curious I decided to give it a go and now I have opinions so if horror is your thing you can help out the algorithm please give this video a like and help out the channel and subscribe I'm going to skip the intro sequence Jump Right In get right to it and hopefully keep this video kind of short the film is called audit it is still currently making the rounds of the film festivals here in Europe but it was uh released in the US back in July the film it was written and directed by Damian McCarthy this is his second movie after the shudder original caveat which came out in 2020 it has a relatively small cast uh featuring actors I wasn't aware of prior to this Carolyn Bracken who you might know from The Lodgers I am not your mother or the quiet girl we have Johnny French who was who also starred in caveat we have Steve Wall who did have a short role in Dune part two but I I didn't recognize him and Carolyn Menon who is making her future debut so a small cast of relatively unknown actors but I thought they all did a great job the story itself is set in a remote part of Ireland and most of the movie takes place in a single house and it is a gorgeous house the movie is quite Pleasant to look at with plenty of um creepy cool visuals so aesthetically for me the movie is an A+ without spoiling anything I can tell you that a young couple moved to this isolated house because the man he is a psychiatrist and a nearby um mental institute for the criminally insane his wife has a twin sister who is blind and who has an antique shop where she sells cursed objects but she earns her living mainly by touching objects by touching personal objects she can tell her clients things like whether a husband is cheating on his wife that sort of thing the sort of thing some people will pay a lot of money to know early in the movie uh the doctor's wife is killed the police are convinced that a recently released um patient killed her but his sister uh she has different ideas then again his sis her sister is quite a peculiar individual to say the least what I loved about this movie we have few characters six at most we we have really one location though there are a few scenes that take place um in the mental institute and one scene in the antique shop the movie mainly takes place at that one gorgeous house and I loved the minimalist aspect of this film the story is quite simple too we know pretty much who each character is what role they will play in the story the movie doesn't try to trick us or surprise us with crazy twists um crazy twists can be fun when done right but there is also something quite satisfying about a simple story delivered in a simple focused manner which this movie does and it does quite well for a horror movie there is little in the way of blood and violence I mean there is a little bit but that's not the main cell of the movie instead the film focuses on the creepy setting the unsettling Ambiance and the are a couple of very effective jump scares too uh so in this sense and with the cursed objects angle it feels very much like an old school 1940s kind of horror with a contemporary look to it and given the amount of big production American slasher films geared at a younger audience that I've been consuming lately I found odity to be a welcome and much needed change of paas it didn't it didn't blow me away wow that was amazing like it has for some movie goers but it it did leave me very satisfied and it has a has a pretty cool ending to it too I thought do I look stupid I have no idea what you look like you sound stupid is it the most amazing horror film to come out of 2024 as IID heard it was I hope not to be honest with you I mean it is good yes um but I hope to see something even better although to be truthful I don't think I have seen anything quite as good yet in 2024 or qu or something that I've enjoyed as much as I enjoyed this a tightly paced minimalist creepy Vibe horror that has come out of Ireland and I was quite impressed those are my thoughts on a have you seen it have you seen his first film caveat what did you think have you seen any um horror movie to come out of Ireland recently that I should be aware of let me know what you think I always enjoy hearing from you I always enjoy connecting with you in the comment section until then thank you for watching I'll see you at the next video I've been hearing all this Buzz about an amazing little horror movie that has come out of ir so I got curious and I gave it a go and now I have Ops [Music] n n [Music]
