Clemson Football 2024 Schedule Preview & Record Projection

what's going on YouTube this is sg1 sports you're watching our college football channel we continue with our schedule preview projected record series the Clemson Tigers are up next coming off of a bit of a disappointing season last year you look at the schedule from 2023 and you know they lost the Duke Miami and NC those were all road games so they did not play well on the road their only Road wins were against Syracuse and South Carolina uh and then also lost that game to Florida City game that they had I mean they had that game one and you wonder if they would have survived and Florida state would that have given given them enough confidence to maybe not lose to Miami and NC State maybe they finish 11 and one maybe they're right there in the playoff discussion uh you never know but again a disappointing year for Clemson you look at this 2024 schedule here it is we're going to break it down first with the non-conference they played Georgia and Atlanta that is going to be a huge game uh these teams going to be I think playing several times here in the future app state is also on the non-conference schedule we know what they've done in the past but it's it's a home game for Clemson so that would be a shocker if they were to lose the Citadel and then South Carolina uh so not a not a an easy non conference schedule when you're talking about two SEC teams Georgia and South Carolina and then if you're going to play a group of five Team app States a pretty good one so yes that's a pretty good non-conference schedule look at the home schedule and there are those non-conference games and then also NC State Stanford and yes Stanford is an ACC game we're going to have to get used to this I know uh Virginia and Louisville so all very winnable games in the in the ACC you like their chances in all four of those games at home ncate of course beat them last year Louisville coming off a really good year but at Clemson it's going to be tough for those teams to win so a home schedule that is very manageable for Clemson but then you look at the road schedule and there's that game against Georgia again neutral side this year they'll play at Florida State so that's going to be a tough one right there and then it's at Wake Forest at Virginia Tech and at pit those are all games that Clemson can win um you know Florida State's going to be their toughest game at least in the ACC and you know you lose to Georgia and Florida State if those are your only two losses well really as long as if you win the ACC Clemson's going to be in the college football playoff um because of the way that it's set up but maybe even if you lose those two games and you don't win the ACC would that be enough to get them in the playoffs so again a schedule that sets up pretty well for them even though they do have a tough non-conference schedule they'll open up with Georgia and Atlanta on August 31st and they play App State the next week on September 7th and they get a very early bye but you know I don't mind this because again they're going to get two by- weeks everybody gets two by- weeks this this year you know Georgia is going to be a tough game AB State could be a scary game a tricky game and then you kind of get to reset get a byee before you start conference play against a pretty good NC State team and NC State team that beat you last year so that is I think a good spot for the first bye and then Stanford at home uh so they won't have to travel far uh until they get to October the 5th and even then it's just down to to Tallahassee so not too far on the road at Florida State on October the 5th and they'll be playing on the road at Wake Forest and then they'll get Virginia at home and then another bye before Louisville so again NC State and Louisville not the probably the two toughest teams in the ACC for Clemson on their schedule not named Florida State you get a by week before both of those so those are pretty good by weeks in my opinion after that bye again they'll play Louisville then it's back toback road games Virginia Tech and at Pittsburgh going to be tough to win both of those on the road if those teams wind up being pretty good this year and then they'll have the Citadel on the 23rd and South Carolina to close things out on November 30th in their rivalry game so again when you look at the schedule I like the way the buwe set up there are no real tough tough stretches yeah they've got the back Tob backs they were Virginia Tech and pit and you can even go one step in front of that and go to Louisville Virginia Tech and pit that could be a pretty good pretty tough stretch there but not horrible not horrible at all and so you know bye set up pretty well oh I guess I wasn't even paying attention Florida State Wake Forest also back-to-back Road games so that's interesting the way the ACC gives them back-to-back Road games twice um you don't really see that a whole lot usually when they do these schedules but yeah a schedule that you know the ACC schedule for them outside of Florida state they're probably going to be favored in every game that they play so they're in pretty good shape there and then again the non-conference game may not even matter and that is the one negative about the 12 team playoff in the format is you know that if that game really doesn't matter and they still get a top four seed because they win the ACC and let's say Georgia they wind up 12 and0 but then they lose in the SEC Championship and that Georgia team winds up Fifth and Clemson's third or fourth you know there are definitely some some issues there but anyways back to the schedule uh it's it's gives them a it gives them a shot Clemson is a playoff Contender because of the schedule if they wind up being improved from last year and not even a ton just improved some from last year they're going to be in the mix there and of course just being in the mix in the ACC is going to give them a chance so you look at now we're going to get to the projections these are the projections last year they were 8 and four our projection had at 9 and three I picked them to go 10 and two so did Aton team definitely underperform the over under was at 9 and a half which tells me that the the projections really were 9 and3 10 and two that's where this team was expected to be last year and they did not live up to that again going eight and four so again here's the schedule and this is the scale that we use if it's under 20 or over 80 those are games that are basically you know considered guaranteed wins or losses not guaranteed but almost guaranteed 20 to 29 71 to 80 those are games where your team's going to be favored by double digits fairly comfortable favorites and then you got your 30 to 39 61 to 70 these are games where I think you know teams only to be favored by about a touchdown those are your typical upset type games there potentially and then your 50/50 games here in the white games that really could go either way and again I have a tier system formula that I use to do this and so if you're wondering Clemson is a tier 2 team in this system so let's go to the easy wins you know appstate and the Citadel these are not the same types of games app State's going to be a lot closer to 80% whereas the Citadel is a lot closer to 100% but it would be a huge surprise if Clemson were to lose either one of these games again appstate you know a solid group of five team but playing at Clemson it would be a shocker if they were able to go in win that game you've got Stanford and Virginia in the blue again I think Clemson's probably going to be favored by a couple touchdowns in these games Virginia is a team to watch they they started to improve a little bit last year but again at Clemson I just don't see that one happening I don't see an upset happening there same thing with Stanford and again that Stanford game is a conference game next we've got a bunch of games in the purple so NC State Wake Force Louisville Virginia Tech Pittsburgh and South Carolina this is going to be kind of the story of the Season here for Clemson they're going to going to have half of their schedule where they're going to be favored but not by a ton and these are the games you have to win you got to take care of business in these games something that they didn't do last year they just didn't I don't remember the numbers but I'm assuming they were favored by a little bit uh about a touchdown against Duke and Miami and NC State again I would assume I don't I don't remember the numbers but uh they lost all those games so you cannot lose these games you've got to win really if if we're talking college football playoff they probably have to win pretty much all of these games and again they'll be favored but these are the games that that they didn't win last year again NC State Wake Forest not a great team but on the road that's why that one's in the purple same thing with Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh and then Louisville and South Carolina at home uh can they win all those games that will be the big question I do think there's a one game there'll be a clear Underdog in that's Georgia about a touchdown Underdog in that one more than likely uh Georgia just figures to be one of the top two or three teams in the country it's a neutral side game yes but it is in Atlanta so kind of a HomeField Advantage there for Georgia as well should be a good one I don't I don't think Clemson has no chance in this game but it's going to be tough Georgia again going to be really really good then you got Florida State that's really a 50/50 game it's on the road I think Florida State's going to be favored uh this is going to be a different Florida State team so at this point you know I really don't know how good they're going to be I feel like Clemson is at least going to be as good as they were last year you would think and so with Florida state with all those new faces we'll see what they look like um again that's one that may not matter honestly cuz these teams could wind up playing again in the ACC Championship and that's the game that would matter but we don't know how it's going to go and that is a huge game in the conference so the projection for Clemson is eight and4 that is the projection same record as last year again I realize that they're favored in almost every game here but the odds would say that they're going to lose you know maybe a couple of these games in the purple and then maybe lose to Georgia maybe even lose to Florida State you know that's how you can get to eight and four uh now 9 and3 I think is definitely a fair projection as well if you wanted to go I don't remember the exact number I think it was in between eight and eight wins and nine wins and so yeah nine and three is not there definitely I think a fair projection if you wanted to go nine and three but eight and four 93 that seems to be about where this team is should be with the schedule if they can win some of those close games could go 10- two 11-1 potentially and even be in the college football playoff again if they can win the ACC do you agree with
