Introduction after 5 years the Joker sequel is finally set to release Warner's first Joker 2 trailer broke records with 167 million views in 24 hours one shot in the trailer drove Joker fans worldwide absolutely crazy I want to see the real you yes the man's back with his other half Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn Joker 2 is officially scheduled for release on October 14th this year to celebrate I'll revisit Joker from a new angle my favorite yet most controversial film why controversial because I fear backlash for speaking the truth undeniably Joker was a huge commercial and artistic success but I argue we've all been fooled by The Joker and director did you notice I'd say most people misunderstood this film believe it I'd even call it a seriously overrated movie agree if you disagree I've got some points to discuss first why do you and others worldwide adore The Joker a super villain hold thought my analysis will reveal the answer naturally let's start with my first point how are we tricked Who is Arthur Fleck? watching this movie it begins with a crucial element in the film the movie shows three clock shots at different times notice something odd the clock show the same time despite different scenes time is a crucial element for directors to structure narratives and drive plots to say this isn't intentional is hard to believe if the director did this on purpose it suggests all of Arthur's events in the film happen simultaneously since this is impossible in reality the only explanation is that Arthur is telling a story at this moment making everything up if true his motives in the film become reasonable so this is likely the movie's actual story in reality Arthur is a dangerous psychopath recommitted to a mental hospital for violent crimes Bor in observation he bangs his head on the door attracting a doctor talking to the doctor Arthur imagines himself as a struggling depressed clown actor he works hard but is often mocked by others he's kind to colleagues but some dislike him and frame him getting him fired his life is as Bleak and hopeless as this cold gloomy stage clearly no one would want such a life so Arthur's true personality takes over which we can call his clown Persona the director hints at this Arthur's dominant hand is right but he often uses his left unnaturally for instance when writing jokes in his diary one moment he's seriously composing the next his left hand awkwardly writes a disturbing note the worst part of mental illness is people expecting you to act like you don't have it such left-handed notes appear frequently in his notebook he also uses his left hand in the subway killing scene thus the left-handed writer is the clown Persona while the right-handed one is Arthur's imagined self though Arthur's Persona is imaginary The Joker can't easily control the body so he needs external factors to gradually corrupt Arthur and take over in other words Arthur slowly evolves to become the true Joker after killing Arthur hides in a toilet overcome by exhilaration and dances this marks Arthur's First corruption he then goes home and assaults his neighbor the romance between Arthur and his neighbor many think it's Arthur's fantasy but I believe it's all real except the Joker Persona was dating the neighbor so Arthur doesn't remember it after killing three his news is everywhere Arthur finally feels noticed this leads to what The Descent into Madness he tells the social worker sadly she informs him the welfare office is closing no more free medicine this devastates jobless Arthur but it's a chance for the Joker inside him to make money Arthur performs stand up at a bar his odd laugh and dark jokes actually get a good response while his relationship with the neighbor grows they often go on dates together everything seems to be improving but then Arthur discovers he's Thomas Wayne's illegitimate son in a letter Thomas Wayne as we know is Bruce Wayne's father and Gotham's richest man this bombshell news is too much for anyone to handle Arthur asks his mother if it's true [Music]
