Intro what is going on Raider Nation it's your boy San G back at it with another video today we are talking about the Las Vegas Raiders against the San Francisco 49ers and we're going to talk about what the Raiders showed against the 49ers we're going to talk about some of the guys that actually stepped up that I needed to see these guys step up man these guys were basically competing for the final few roster spots and some of them stepped up While others really didn't play the part we're going to get into it man we're going to get into it we will start with the offensive side first but Game Script Talk I do want to just take a quick second to give a shout out to some of the guys that really made some impactful plays yesterday uh you know right away when you guys think about how this how the uh the the defense got on the field first going up against the 49ers first team offense uh yeah Christian mcaffry Trent Williams weren't out there but essentially the 49ers group that was out there is the group that will start come week one right unless those guys end up being healthy and they're essentially ready to go so the fact that the Raiders defense on the three drives essentially stopped a high 49ers offense on the first drive to a field goal on the second Drive they did score a touchdown then on the third Drive they intercepted Brock pie on a beautiful play by Sam Webb who stuck you know hip to hip with Debo Samuel Brock py th hitting him on a quick slant Sam web not only broke the pass up but the pass essentially got tipped up in the P into the air and a Chris Smith the safety was able to jump underneath that and pick it off just a really really good job if you guys ask me by by the group that was essentially asked to step up you know Sam web might have played himself on the 53 man roster and unfortunately MJ Devonshire really didn't look good and he might end up on the practice squad at this point we'll see what actually ends up happening but uh the guys look good last night in my opinion based off the situation um and then on top of that harder Bradley might have also played himself onto the I don't know if I I say on the active roster that wouldn't technically be the right case I think the Raiders are only keep two quarterbacks on the roster especially since the new rule allows you to take a practice while got into the actual season into the pretty much every single week um but I do want to say that I'm not even sure if Carter Bradley is going to be the Raiders third string quarterback because he is a rookie but I will say he showed flashes he showed some upside and I would not be surprised if this guy does not get another look either next year by the Raiders or maybe a team comes in and Scoops him up based off of his performance and we'll talk about him a little bit later on but let's get right 3 Young O-Linemen Step up into this man let's talk about some of the guys individually that really stood out to me one of the guys I needed to see Step Up was Dalton Wagner and he didn't look absolutely great but he was pretty solid you know on a scale of 1 through seven he was like a four and a half for me and that's a lot better than where he was against the Vikings so to me it was important to see what this guy did on tape and to really be able to come back and and say can this guy actually start one day for the Raiders now I don't know if he'll start for the Raiders ERS you know when year three comes around it'll really come down to the development I don't even know if the Raiders are going to keep him in the 53 man uh rotation right I think he'll end up on the practice squad for the Las Vegas Raiders Don Wagner definitely showed some upside and it was a good sign to see the guy did a really really good job in pass Pro he did technically give up one sack but just generally speaking all of you know over the course of all the snaps he did a really really good job and uh because of the fact that I crushed him so much I just wanted to start the video right there and uh give some shout outs to Dalton Wagner man the guy deserves it uh he had a pretty good last two weeks of of Campus or last two weeks of the preseason games essentially and he's also had a strong Camp from what I'm hearing so shout out to D Wagner there was one guy that I really really wanted to watch more than anyone else because this is a guy that I think everybody kind of sleeps on and that's going to be guard Jordan Meredith to me Jordan Meredith is you know if if if I rank the Raiders starting guards right now or or just the Raiders guards in general right I would put Jackson Paris Johnson as The Raiders best guard I don't care that he hasn't played we've already seen his tape the guy's going to be you know one of the top five guards by the end of this year Jackson Paris Johnson is obviously going to be the number one guard for the Raiders at number two I would almost put Jordan meridith that number two ahead of Dylan parum and ahead of Cody white here to me Jordan Meredith has looked really really really good and you know he's probably not going to start for the Raiders I think at this point the Raiders definitely want to see Dylan parm to see if this guy can actually show you know he's like the the future at Right Guard I think the Raiders are going to give him every opportunity especially since parm is locked in for the next two years uh because he was essentially a a third round pick but to me what Jordan merid did showed was phenomenal and it wasn't just the fact that you know Jordan Mir just started the game and if you if you guys understand what that means the 49ers had their first team defensive line out there so Javon harri the San Francisco 49ers thir defense tackle you know play like 10 snaps and he lined up over Jordan Meredith on majority of those snaps and Meredith absolutely held his own against Javon Hargrave some people think Javon Hargrave is a top 10 defensive tackle to be able to see Jordan Meredith with all backups around him right Jaylen McKenzie I don't think he's going to make the Raiders roster you know his left tackle was was Jordan McKenzie the center was Ben Brown Ben Brown sucks and uh Jordan meridith had those two guys and he was still able to pass off defensive line games he was able to see things uh to me I really really like Jordan Meredith and maybe I'm a little biased towards him which I I guess I don't know why I'd be biased towards Merith but maybe I'm a little biased towards Jordan Merith he looks good to me right I I watch offensive line play uh from a technique standpoint everything about his punching the football awareness the mindset the IQ to recognize defensive line games it all looks good now he does have one flaw which I don't know if he'll ever correct it's the same flaw that Cody whiteh hair has and that is that neither of these guys are super super super strong now Meredith is in his prime and he does handle power pretty well but I do suspect that you know you put Chris Jones on Jordan Meredith Meredith is going to get pushed back right um but Meredith is a solid football player and I think for the Raiders he's definitely going to make the 53-man roster I'd actually be surprised if he doesn't and uh I think he's one of those guys that gives you just so much versatility on the interior offensive line right he'll play left guard he'll play Right Guard he'll play center and he pretty much do it all and those are the type of players you have to have on your offensive line and you need those guys in you know you need them active right because when when uh the game comes around and Andre James goes down or Dylan parm goes down you need Jordan merid to be able to step in and play multiple positions um and he just did a good job and another guy that I definitely wanted to watch was uh uh Andrew Coker at of TCU Coker had some upside he didn't really look good in the first two weeks uh but in this first in this third game he actually looked pretty good uh he had a lot of snaps and he made a couple of nice things that stood out to me one of the things he did on one play it was a 21 yard pass to Tyreek mallister uh Andrew Coker did a really good job snatching down the defensive end he was going up against and that snatch essentially removed the leverage that that defenseman had kept the quarterback clean and Carter Bradley hit mallister for 21 yards to me that right there is you know it doesn't mean Andrew CER is going to be a really really good football player but the fact that he's able to snatch down and he's able to fuel it out that hey I'm starting to get pushed back a guy's trying to long arm me or a guy's trying to do some sort of technique and you know I'm in a bad spot so let me counter and let me recover by snatching a guy down right it's just it's just it's a it's coaching elements that not every guy is able to apply into the into the football field essentially right so Coker looked good uh he was solid with his punching as well in pass Pro he did a good job with the timing of his hands everything of Andrew Coker to me looked really really good I don't think he makes the Raiders roster I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the practice squad I think he's a good practice squad candidate he's a guy you want to keep for developmental purposes um but it'll be interesting to see how many guys we actually keep um the Raiders right now have four tackles that I think are going to make the make the roster with Colton theer DJ glaze and then I think Andres P makes the team as a tackle and from there I think you'll probably keep two backup guys on the practice squ and I think dton Wagner Andrew Coker makes sense I know Jaylen McKenzie has kind of been around with the Raiders as well McKenzie didn't look that good to me yesterday right I felt like he struggled a little bit um DJ glaz played Seven snaps yesterday against the ones dominated absolutely dominated there was one play that you led to a sack some people said it was on DJ glaze I disagree to me glaze is in the perfect spot he's in front of this the the starting defensive end he has him locked down and then the quarterback to avoid the pressure by the Right Guard tries to step through and then the defense a sense he just chases it and Pursuits it and ends up wrapping the play up uh to me that sack doesn't actually go on the tackle to me that goes on the quarterback or the Right Guard it's up to you on how you want to apply that let's transition into two Tyreik McAllister & Ramel Keyton wide receivers that stepped up and I don't even know what Tyreek mallister really is is he a wide receiver is he a running back uh let's talk about this guy man he might be the R's most explosive player on the offensive side man this guy is phenomenal now I do want to State this you know some people don't realize this Tariq mallister is technically in year four this year he is not a rookie uh he is not like a second-year player he's year for this year which doesn't really matter right he spent two years with the Denver Broncos third year he went to the CFL and now he's back with the Las Vegas Raiders and I think he's made the roster for the Raiders I I I would be surprised if Tyreek Maller is not kept with the Las Vegas Raiders so yesterday this guy stat lined he had one carry for seven yards two catches for 56 yards yards plus a touchdown one pun return for 81 yards and a touchdown and then he had two kick returns for 57 yards essentially averaging 29 yards per per kick return uh Tyreek Maller looks good man I think the Raiders just make this guy their full-time special team player I think it just makes sense right he's had some big moments over preseason but you know nothing compared to what he did yesterday to me the Raiders should keep this guy around man he looked absolutely explosive uh the one of the catches he had which was the touchdown one not only did he out jump a guy and he kind of fought for the football but he essentially broke a tackle and and and took the distance to me those type of playmaking abilities is not easily found so if I'm the Las Vegas Raider Tariq Malla should just makees sense to me right the guy is kind of like Trey Tucker right I think they would probably play the same role for the Raiders both guys are wide receivers and it will be interesting to know who the Raiders end up keeping if you guys just did the math you know we got Devonte Trey Tucker jacobe Myers that's already three wide receivers DJ Turner did not play yesterday so that essentially means he's also on the roster and then the number five guy you know that's going to be kind of the question is it Christian Wilkerson who played yesterday but Wilkerson really has not looked good to me I think Tyreek Maller is a lot better than than uh Christian Wilkerson uh so maybe it's Tariq Maller who's going to get that fifth spot more than that another guy I really liked yesterday was raar Heaton for the first time the Tennessee wide receiver fought finally made a a couple of plays he had four catches for 76 yards he did have eight targets but some of the passes he was thrown to were really really bad passes by Carter Bradley but uh he did step up and he had four catches for 76 yards and he had one really really nice one-handed catch on the final drive of the game that ultimately allowed the Raiders to tie the football game raach in in my opinion looked very very good yesterday and it's interesting because we had heard for the entire camp that Katon has looked really really good the guy's been one of the younger guys that's kind of dominated but what's interesting about him is in the first two games he only had one catch for like seven yards so he really did not have any sort of impacts in that time frame now a part of that I think is also because in that first week Anthony Brown was really really bad and you know the Raiders essentially uh replaced Brown they they released him brought in Nathan Peterman so in the second game you know you're essentially trying to figure out you know the the which quarterback's going to come in and now you got a new quarterback throwing it to the younger guys so they got to get used to this new quarterback and then in that third game not only did Carter Bradley get a legit look but then we also got Nathan Peterman who took snaps in the first drive and he was also able to kind of do some things although I will say this I don't think Nathan peterman's a good quarterback we're going to talk about that here next but raach he didn't look good to me Tariq Mall should look really good to me if I'm the Raiders I'm keeping both of those guys around so if we go six wide receivers I think raach Keaton should make the roster but I don't think he's going to make the roster but I think he'll be kept around on the practice squad I think mackon provides you a lot of upside and he has playmaking ability right you can tell based off of what this guy's done he has that upside to make plays now keep in mind right he was at Tennessee quarterback you know quarterback plays up and down at Tennessee I know he did technically have a a guy that's having success right now in the NFL but uh it's also one of those things where the scheme is not great at Tennessee right then you got some other guys that are pretty solid then you got you know run first offense with you know the quarterback back plus you had a explosive running back and Jaylen Wright there as well and he just didn't have those opportunities at Tennessee and then I think coming to the Raiders you definitely see that playmaking upside and uh I would keep raar and around now again doesn't have to make the 53 man roster you just keep him around on the actual practice squad I think would make sense uh let's talk about the quarterbacks a little bit and then we'll Quarterback Talk talk about the defensive guy because there's some Ballers on the Raiders defensive side so uh we saw Nathan Peterman yesterday he looked awful he had some good plays but generally speaking when it came to going through the progressions he looked pretty bad and what's unfortunate at this point is the Raiders have Garner muu on one end and then you got a Young quarterback in Aiden Connell as the number two quarterback I don't think the Raiders are going to keep a third quarterback who's also a Young quarterback essentially a rookie in Carter Bradley that doesn't make sense to me and I thought Carter Bradley looked pretty good yesterday overall it wasn't great right overall he was n of 21 uh but he did have a ton of really solid drives right he had one drive where he essentially took the Raiders all the way downfield and they went for it on fourth down and it was just a essentially a jump ball towards the left that they threw and the pass ended up in an interception so the Raiders got no points but the drive in itself was pretty solid and then the final drive right the Raiders remember got a stop on fourth down and then we essentially ran a two-minute offense Carter Bradley was on fire and I think he hit Keaton maybe three times back to back but he looked really really good in that part of the Raiders and to me Carter Bradley sold me that he should be qb3 but again because he's a rookie I'm not sure if the Raiders are going to actually keep him as the qb3 um I would hope that the Raiders keep him on the practice squad because I also do think that there's a team that's going to have cen's tape and there's a team out there that is going to say hey if the Raiders don't keep you around well we'll go ahead and add you to our practice call we'll give you x amount of money or going into next year right if the Raiders draft the quarterback next year or alternatively if gter mchu AA Connell end up having a lot of success and we don't draft a quarterback at that point Carter Bradley has no reason to come back to the Raiders right but I would hope that he showed a little bit of upside he showed a little bit of flashes that we at least keep him around to see what he can develop into plus you know if Garner muu and Aiden mconnell hopefully it doesn't happen but if those two guys both go down would you guys rather see Nathan Peterman try you know leading the Raiders offense or Carter Bradley or Bradley at least push just the ball downfield so uh I hope the Raiders keep him around um you know he had a couple of really really nice plays he did have some bad plays as well right so there was one play specifically and he was pressured so maybe that's what kind of caused this this play to essentially happen but uh Tyreek mallister Broke Free he was wide open and Carter Bradley just had to put the ball over the top and he was pressure so he had to avoid the pressure but he wasn't able to make the pass uh doesn't matter mallister still came back and he still caued the pass but that should have been a touchdown over the top essentially right again not a huge deal and then he did have a couple of bad passes that were inaccurate passes I think it's important to note uh you know because some people are saying hey start Carter Bradley you know over aen Conor guarder Mitchell we do got to recognize he's still a rookie going up against you know essentially third and fourth string players uh but he did show some flashes so we'll see what he kind of develops into as we go forward and then you got some defensive guys that I want to talk about uh there's probably three guys Amari Gainer LB3? that I think really stood out to me we'll start right away with the one guy that really stood out to me and that's going to be linebacker Amari Gainer I think Amari gayner has actually played himself to an active roster spot more than that Amari gainer in my opinion has played himself to being the Raiders third linebacker on the depth chart yesterday Amari gner played the entire game for the Raiders and he called the play so he was tasked with going out there and and calling the plays and uh I think Amari Gainer did a phenomenal job yesterday he had 10 total tackles had multiple run stops right positive plays against the run the guy was jumping his run fits and making plays uh he was just phenomenal yesterday all around and uh Amari Gainer is one of those guys that I think from week one we pretty much saw this guy start to flash a little bit we saw this guy have success and uh remember you know don't overlook this you know the Las Vegas readers head coach right now is a former pro bowl linebacker Antonio Pierce knows what he's looking at when it comes to linebackers and Antonio Pierce can can sniff guys out and he'll know right away if a guy's good or not and I think Amari Gainer is legit and I think Antonio Piers might have found himself an actual baller I think Amari gainers should be on the roster now it'll be interesting to see which guys we do keep if we do go down this route because we have two guys that are starting right Robert Spain Divine Diablo and then we got a bunch of younger guys right Tommy ikenberg who has not been playing at all uh we got Amari Gainer who has really really stepped up we got Amari Bernie who we took last I think in the fifth round or sixth round and then uh we also got Luke Masterson and Masterson did not play yesterday which to me means that the Raiders either know they're going to release him or he's on the roster right so I don't know which one of the two it is with masteron but masteron hasn't really looked good to me so it is interesting nonetheless right that Amari gner got the looks yesterday I would keep this guy on the active roster I think if you try getting Gainer onto the practice go some other team's going to come in and sweep him up and not just because he's a good run Defender Mari gner is actually legit against the pass right he did some really really good things in pass coverage so shout out to Mari Gainer another guy that looked really really good yesterday and this guy's look good now for the last two weeks honestly he's our third best Janarius Robinson defensive end jius Robinson was an absolute stud yesterday he got after the quarterback multiple times play in play out he just kept getting after it he kept getting after it he kept getting after it and a jius Robinson to me is the Raiders third best defensive EV and I know Terry Wilson did not play yesterday which is actually a good sign that he didn't play yesterday right that means the coaching staff obviously you know felt a certain type of way they didn't feel like he needed to prove anything but jerius Robinson is better than Tyreek Bolson right jerius Robinson in my opinion has proven it that he's a better pass rusher he's quicker he's more explosive and Jus Robinson I think is in like year four at this point uh but he's he's legit right and he got after it against the San Francisco 49 as first team unit and then he continued to get after it even as the backups kind of came in so shout out to Robinson I'm positive he's going to be on the 53 man roster I'd be actually very surprised if he doesn't make it and then you got a wild card there's two guys specifically uh you got Chris Smith and you got Jaden Chris Smith & Jaydon Grant Grant and these two guys are kind of wild cards at this point so uh just to back up you know the Raiders have three safeties that are 100% locked in you got Trayvon mg you got Marcus EPS you got Isaiah paal so those three guys are 100% locked in and then you'll have probably two more guys that are going to make the make it for the Raiders Trey Taylor has not played I'm not 100% sure what's happened with Trey Taylor I'm not sure if he's out for the season he has some sort of injury but uh apparently it's it's something bad right I just don't know exactly what it is and uh so Trey Taylor might end up on the IR so that means there's probably two other safe things that the Raiders will keep on the roster so you got guys like jayen Grant you got guys like Chris Smith you got a couple other guys as well but you know if you only keep four safeties I think Jaden Grant would be the fourth safety and in fact uh Chris Smith did have an interception yesterday but Chris Smith didn't have the interception because he like jumped the play you know he had the interception because he just happened to be in the game at that time and the ball got tipped and he just happened to be the closest guy as the ball got tipped I think majority of players you know at that level would have caught that pass right not not everybody but I think a majority of them would have and uh there were also plays where Chris Smith was late in his rotation a little bit one of them ended up being a touchdown another one ended up being a pretty big play and it's not a big deal right that's these are the moments that you get better as a safety in the NFL but at this point I personally feel like jayen Grant has shown me more than Chris Smith has you know I think in coverage you're probably about the same player but I think when it comes to being able to defend the Run being aggressive being downhill jayen Grant's a lot better and I think for the Raiders you know if you're going to play two safeties deep right if you're going to play a light box essentially what you need is you need safeties that will support the run you need safeties that'll come downhill not safties are going to sit back you know they'll come and they'll sit back five yards from the line of scrimmage you need guys that are going to come downhill and hit people and Jaden Grant has shown me that this entire offseason this guy's a downhill safety he going to hit people now in coverage him and Chris Smith might be about the same but if you're asking me I think jayen Grant has more upside based off of what I've kind of seen and both guys are second-year players right both guys are second-year safeties I know Chris myth was actually drafted but Jayden Grant being a udfa he just looks different in my op opinion and we will see what ends up happening maybe the Raiders keep five safeties and we keep both of these guys we'll actually see what ends up happening uh and then finally let's talk about Matthew Butler Matthew Butler & Byron Young and Byron young both guys ended up having a sack although Matthew Butler sack was not a high quality sack it was a sack in which you know it just kind of it just happened right his guy ended up getting rolled up on he ended up releasing Matthew Butler just kind of tackled the quarterback Byron young sack was different Byron young was a high quality sack and I hope you guys already know the difference between a high quality sack and a sack that is based off of effort or it just kind of happens you know if a if a quarterback Runs Out of Bounds for example the closest player gets credited with the sack that's not a real sack right uh so you know and then another thing if you go unblocked right that's not a real sack right you're going unblocked maybe it's a scheme thing maybe the quarterback doesn't get the ball out um or if a quarterback runs into a sack the way we saw uh DJ glaze and quarterback kind of stepped up and glaz's guy kind of wrapped it up that sack doesn't go against the offensive lineman right so it's not a high quality sack by that defensive man going up against DJ glaz Matthew Butler Byron young both look kind of average now I think Matthew Butler looked really really good against the run a lot of plays where he was able to bench press guys off of him and he was able to kind of keep his nose there and he was able to make the play he was able to get off the block I felt like Byron young struggled against the Ron there were multiple plays where this guy was not able to get off the block then on the other end I feel like Baron young had some pass rush upside uh you know he had that sack which was a good sack and then he had a couple other plays where he was able to beat the guy in front of him but generally speaking neither of the guys really stood out to me and I think at this point you just kind of take what you want of the two guys you know on one and Byron young was a third round pick so I think some people would just say based off of that he has a much higher ceiling and then some people will say with Matthew Butler I mean you've already released him last year and you ended up bringing him back to the practice squad so you can probably do that again no one's going to pick him up and I generally agree with that so I think with that byon young might end up making the roster over Matthew Butler Young DL Honest Talk just because of the fact one was a third round pick and you don't want someone to sweep him up plus he has a you know pretty high ceiling at this point still but like Nessa Jade Silvera did not stand out to me Mark Juan McCall looked good against the run really good against run but he provides no pass for upside so I think at this point with John Jenkins being your guy at least for this year marcoon Mall also ends up on the practice s uh but none of those three or four young guys really stood out to me they're all just kind of average players that will have to continue to develop you know what defensive tackles by year one you see flashes year one you see flashes Brian B of the Saints has shown flashes kijah cany of the Buccaneers has shown flashes Jaylen Carter of the Eagles has shown flashes year two you start to put it together and you become a lot better now if you don't show flashes in year one then year two you'll show a little bit of flashes and I do think Barron young has shown some flashes I think Matthew Butler has shown some flashes um but then you're three the year you got to put it together and Matthew Butler is in year three Baron Young's in year two so with that I think it's time to release bar Matthew Butler and maybe you keep him on the practice squad to give him one more year but unless he really puts it together it doesn't make sense to continue to hold on to him but we'll see what ends up happening I think he was good against the Ron we'll see we'll see what ends up happening but none of those guys really impressed me I think the Raiders got to really consider their defensive tackle depth really there's only three defensive tackles on this roster that I actually have confidence can play right it's the top three guys John Jenkins Adam Butler Christian Wilkins that's it the other guys have not made me feel comfortable that they're starting caliber players so the Raiders got to really think about what they're going to do at that position but I did like what the Raiders showed yester against the 49ers love that Carter Bradley drove downfield at the end of the game love the fact that some of the younger guys played a lot of snaps um although I've watched the tape at least once I plan to go back and rewatch it a second maybe even third time focusing on certain guys let me know what you guys think man I hope you guys all have a great Saturday uh watch some college football today and uh I do have a second YouTube channel that I've now started I guess it's a third YouTube channel where I'm going to be covering college football some of you guys know this some of you who don't I recently took a job as a scout with the hola and uh with that I feel like I'm already analyzing all these offensive lineman defensive lineman why not just create a channel where I talk about those guys as well so if you guys enjoy talking head videos like like this it'll mostly be like this it'll be a lot less film breakdowns if you guys enjoy this type of content where I'm talking and I'm give you guys my analysis what I see on tape I'll throw some highlights in there and those type of things uh subscribe to that other channel I'll pin it down in the comments below make sure you guys check it out I hope you have a great weekend and we'll be back tomorrow with another video I might go live let me know what you guys think and I'll see you guys next time with another video
