[Music] hi m in the remarkable leader is the quality of mindful and I know when I say mindful or mindfulness people's eyes roll oh here we go they're going to send me to a meditation class and mindfulness not about meditation meditation is a great activity to undertake but it's not for everybody mindful is understanding your emotions and what triggers not just the negative but also the positive emotions cuz when you understand your emotions you're self-aware of your emotions you can manage them and you can reduce stress anxiety burnout by understanding and it's about taking that time to reflect and understand how you're feeling at a given point in time and when you're self-aware you can increase positive emotions and decrease negative ones self-regulation then comes into play because you can then regulate your emotions when you understand the triggers that make you stressed or anxious you can take a good look at those triggers and say well how can I manage them how can I avoid those situations and if I can't aboid them how can I manage them how can I regulate emotions so I don't go off at the deep end that I don't demonstrate impatience that I don't demonstrate my anxiety that things aren't progressing as I wish they were how can I manage those and when you're self-aware you're also aware of the impact your emotions have on other people you know and I once observed a manager who was getting very impatient with the progress he thought the team should be making and went up at the deep end and berated them for not working hard enough and not doing the right things and not listening to what he wanted and yet those people were working as hard as they could and there were situations outside their control that were causing delays and when that manager with my intervention became aware of how his behavior was affecting his people he was able to control that impatience and we came up with little triggers to help him do that and listen to what the situation was so we could get the full picture before he started to judge people so that was a great part bra self-regulation for him [Music]
