PITT GAMEDAY PREGAME SHOW: Week 2 @ Cincinnati (9/7/24)

what's up guys welcome to the pit game day pregame so I'm Mason tesy your host tomorrow the pit Panthers will take on the Cincinnati barats at nber Stadium or nber stadium in Cincinnati Ohio 12:00 pm kickoff on ESPNU this is going to be a really fun game I mean I'm looking forward to this one this year last year after week one we beat Watford and they beat I think Eastern Kentucky I was kind of nervous headed into this game this year I hav like felt that nerve because I was so impressed with how we played week one against Kent State Holstein Desmond Reed the Cade Bel offense looked super super good and I definitely loved what I saw I mean the defense obviously it had its issues but I'm confident they clean that up in practice this week so that's really good for sure now granted I'm not feeling like super confident but I feel more way more confident than I did last year at this time because we played good and Cincinnati let's talk about them I'm not saying anything bad about them obviously but yeah so last year the Bearcats were three and nine they won their first two games against Eastern Kentucky and us and then on Veterans Day they beat Houston it was not a good Cincinnati team and I this might make a lot of pick fans upset but I like to see Cincinnati be good I do they're fun football team sat Fields a good codes and I like to see Cincinnati be a good football team I don't want to see Cincinnati win tomorrow however I would like to see them get that six wins in a bow game now the tables differ in 2024 last week they played talson at nippard it was a white out I thought that was pretty cool they beat them by 18 points talson in F FBS school with or FCS school I'm sorry their record last year was like four and five or five- six whichever one they beat them by 18 points at home s Brendan sorby the transfer from Indiana their new quarterback he had a strong day and he had a good connection with Xavier Henderson the receiver their star receiver who's somebody the cornerbacks are going to have to constantly be on and someone else were going to have to constantly minor or monitor he's proba my sweeper pick of the week you didn't see him much last week cuz I think they're saving him for us is running back Cory Kinder he destroyed us literally destroyed us last year so we need to get back at him he is the perfect running back I can't believe this kid has not ranked higher for the draft and even starting for them he is exactly what I like in running backs he's just a PowerBack and he's very good so got to keep an eye on him and another guy we got to keep an eye on I mean thank goodness he's better is Dante Corone unfortunately earlier Corone had some issues had some blood clots thankfully he is better I'm very happy to hear that for sure so God bless D coron and I'm glad he's better so yeah I mean this is going to be a close game there's no doubt about it these two teams are probably even I would say we are a little better though to be honest with you I just think we are however this game and I think we have the better team and I think we might play we should play the better game however this game's in Cincinnati and in college football it's just we lost this game last year and it's super duper hard to pick against the home team so despite all the things I'm hearing which are very good for us and I'm very happy to be hearing them because they're good for us I'm going to pick the Bearcats unfortunately this week I mean I'm I'm I hope I'm wrong and I probably will be wrong if these other sources are right and hopefully I am wrong and hopefully I'm like oh crap I S have pick pet tomorrow night but unfortunately I think it's going to be a high scoring game but I think Cincinnati is going to be ready to go to- to Toe with us so I'm taking the Bearcats unfortunately give me Cincinnati 3541 definitely going to be an interesting game this game sets the tone for the season remember last year okay so let's talk about last year for a minute three and nine we lost to Cincinnati that game was so bad with jovic and all it Ripp it created the biggest ripple effect I think in pit football history we looked awful against WVU and I think it's because of the Cincinnati game we were so caught off guard if we can go in there tomorrow and send a clear message and defeat the Bearcats will be able to be better this year I truly do believe the goal is to win the ACC and the national championship but at the same time this team was three and N last year getting back to a bll game is udes which you need six wins to do if we win tomorrow assuming which I I think is very likely we beat Youngtown State we'll be free one at the end of non conference play that's halfway there we have to have to win against Cincinnati or ww I believe to get a Bowl this year because Boston College is going to be really good I don't think we could be I think louville will be tough Carolina's still going to be tough Clemson obviously now granted we should be able to be California Syracuse and Virginia and possibly we will knock off one of those top tier teams most likely we will however we need to think about just one team right now and that's the Cincinnati Bearcats no thinking ahead just go into Nipper or ner beat the Bearcats this game sets the tempo for both teams this year both these teams are going to be friends teams if any one of these teams wants to get back to a bow I think they got to win this game if we win tomorrow which I hope we do we may then Cincinnati is in trouble in terms of a bow big trouble if we lose tomorrow we're not necessarily in big trouble but we got to be on our game against WVU so that's definitely interesting for sure that's all I have for you guys tonight I can't wait for this game
