Hey, good morning to you. Happy Monday. We're starting off the week with some warm temperatures for Labor Day, but we are going to be heating up as the week progresses. Wednesday through Friday, in particular is a very hot window for our afternoon. High temperatures. We'll be talking about that in just a second. But now that the month of August is over and has come to a close, take a look at how we rounded it out afternoon. High temperatures came in nearly two degrees warmer than what they typically would be. Uh average overnight lows came in nearly a degree warmer than normal. So it was a hot month of August for us. Precipitation unsurprisingly had nothing but average will only be 1, 1/100 of an inch. This ridge of high pressure is only going to bring warmer temperatures to us in southern California starts to amplify over southern uh Southwester us, uh San Diego, uh Southern California, whatever you want to use to just it. Here's this ridge of eye pressure watch as those darker tones start to build across Washington, Oregon, Nevada. All states that are going to be dealing with different weather alerts they've got fire weather warnings scattered up around the Pacific northwest and inland northwest. You get down to the southwest corner of the US and you've got the excessive heat watch, not only for San Diego County, but pushing all the way through Arizona and southern Nevada as well. It's all because of these hot temperatures that are coming about. Everyone's going to see it. But for the fire weather warning in particular, that implies some low humidity as well. We aren't going to have offshore winds for this stretch, but it is still going to be quite warm. So expect temperatures to be building and expect the coast to be the coolest place in the county. But when we say the coolest place in the county, not really by much. I mean, this afternoon, upper seventies and low eighties, those temperatures are going to climb to the upper eighties by the end of the week, but everywhere else, nineties and triple digits. So marine layer is with us this morning, dense clouds built up along the coastline. That marine layer is going to have less depth to it for mornings to come. So you shouldn't have to wait quite as long 10:11 a.m. today, but maybe closer to 7:08 a.m. for mornings to come as those clouds pull back. So less intense cloud cover for our inland valleys, especially for that Wednesday through Friday stretch. In the meantime, today it's going to help tribute to the more mild temperatures along the coastline. Carlsbad in Del Mar 77 this afternoon. Comfortable beach day out there. But the minute you start to make your way east nineties, 91 for Escondido, 96 for Ramona, 91 for El Cajon and Alpine and down south in Chula vista going for high of 77 degrees all the way up north in Fallbrook. 88. Now, the coastal communities are going to see some eighties in play. This will likely be one of the warmest stretches. We've this summer along our coastline. 87 degrees on Thursday, 86 on Friday still sticking with mid mid eighties for Saturday and Sunday. But for today, your Labor Day, it's 10 degrees cooler than that. Enjoying mid seventies out there for inland valleys. We're calling for weather impact alert days, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday because of that excessive heat warning or at least it will be upgraded to a warning. It's a watch right now. Once we start to see these conditions become a bit more imminent, we'll see it upgraded. Uh, temperatures could make their way into the triple digits for Thursday and Friday, it will be quite a hot stretch. Even across our western valleys or eastern valleys could be even hotter than that. So the 90 degree high today, I mean, it's still menacing, still hot out there, but not quite as bad as other parts of the county later on this week, 104 for the mountains by Thursday, 103 on Friday. And of course, the desert's taking the cake at 100 and 15 degrees by Thursday. So, while today Labor Day is still warm out there and we suggest you still exercise caution, drink plenty of water, maybe limit the alcoholic beverages. Uh, you should also be reapplying that sunscreen quite often as the UV index is high. Uh By the time we get to the afternoon, more and more of the sunshine, as opposed to the cloud cover that's been hanging out along the coastline.
