game but the main topic at hand is breaking down this somewhat scary but oh so sweet victory to start the year one and0 Tommy how are you feeling today well listen you're one and0 that's all you want to be that's a good Green Bay Packers team we know it was a good green back good Green Bay Packers this is late man I mean that third quarter felt like it was it was two days you know we talk about doing a post game we're I talking about doing it at 1 in the morning you I mean he think an 8:15 game I mean really they really played this one out didn't they but besides feeling tired I feel delicious because we overcame tonight and we didn't overcome like we did last year where we were 10 and one and we were escaping right this was different because we turned the football over three times right jaylen's responsible for two of those turnovers right I don't well you know the snap on my account that one oh yeah yeah that one yeah snap on my account the the two picks are on hand the snap that's just a miscommunication they'll get better at that right okay they'll get better at that he's got to stop the rookie stuff so starting with how I feel he needs to stop the rookie stuff that ball in the fourth quarter cannot happen cannot cannot cannot cannot cannot happen but we were explosive okay offensively just like we thought we were going to be and we were able to come overcame those turnovers because our defense stood on their head early in this football game they didn't late right but then they had a big pick Reed had a big pick late in this football game so if you if you saw how they were picking each other up throughout the game and that's what great teams do yeah right and the fact that we came out week one and we put 34 up okay it's a good Packers defense and zaquan Barkley goes for three TDS and giant and Giants fans are about to they got 27 bridges in New York to jump off pick one baby and pay the toll first the six box play the six box Tommy second thing so this is an easy gree to me I assume it's going to be easy for everybody but what do you say yeah he was everything we expected you know what I mean or dreamed of or whatever you wanna whatever you want to say as advertised sequa Barkley was everything that was advertised absolutely and you put him in an offense like this it this is what makes this whole thing different right when you when you have the skill position players like AJ Brown and Devonte Smith when you have the quarterback when you had the offense line right you allow guys to flourish and here and here we are it's it's amazing I mean he was he was perfect tonight you know that ball that TD you know you talk about dotting the feet and jayen dropping in a bucket you know that that's Big Time stuff on both ends right there and that's even it you know just shows you the other side of the weapon he can be and I think on a normal surface because this was bad tonight on a normal surface that 33 yard run where he sort of just ran in to the guy in the secondary I think that that's a house call that's a house call for sure you know late late on normal on normal surfaces um but you know to go back to go back to completely agree Tommy like the other interception it is what it is or or the fumble uh you know what I mean like yes have to be better but that interception was so big at the time because we didn't know how it was going to play out and we had three points secure in what was it already two-point game you had three points secure and and and then you go and throw it away uh so I'm with you man and and the other side of it too Tom it felt like every time early in the game he called his own number the offense went dead you got 75 guys getting paid a whole [ __ ] ton of money out there get them the football this was a game today where you get them the football AJ Smitty Dallas saquin of course right you get those guys to football and then later in the year you start calling your number and that plays there right or even later in the game like it like it did in the fourth quarter right he had did finally get a couple positive plays but up until that third up until that fourth quarter every time he called his number on an RPO or just I'm gonna audible out and just call my number it didn't work no I mean listen you're right and I don't really get into that I thought late in the game you know they're winning plays those were the ones that worked yeah but listen he was not he was not good enough tonight so I mean it's just clean and simple so you listen we hope he's going to get better but you can't be turning the football over two times a game right because those those numbers become alarming not saying he's going to continue to do was last year listen I understand it's week one right but it's week one for everybody so it's not just week one for jayen hers it's week one you know it's week one around the league but so you those it's not about week one it's about their first pick just a bad ball it's more about bad decisions yeah and that's where the fourth quarter interception continues to slap me in the face and say d That's a rookie play bro that's hero ball that's trying to do too much like that's the least you want to when you're playing with this many guys the last thing you ever have to do is too much you just got to do enough and and listen I think that's gonna be talked about and I think he will clean that up you know and I hope he's cleaning up so I'm trying to talk in the existence but this was not listen we scored 34 points but he did not play like a franchise quarterback tonight and we left a lot you're absolutely right we left a lot out there well think about that right so that's even if you want to even look for more of a silver lining in all this our quarterback didn't play well and we dropped 34 on somebody's ass and we Dro 34 on a good defense like I'm not saying it's 85 bar but that's a good solid defense I think when it's all said and done and we look back on this year so but he listen if we're trying to play in February bab this is what this conversation's all about there ain't this is this is year one of No you're one way or the other you just there's too much to deal with right so I'm just going to say what he did bad what he did good right the turnovers terrible there were some good balls mixed in there were you know good runs mixed in especially that late that late four last Drive yep you know running running through some arm tackles um getting your shoulder pads low so I mean there was there thought I saw some really good things out of Jaylen Carter I thought Jordan Davis um you know had some moments where I thought he was shining and and and being unmovable you know secondary wise I thought Q was was Sensational for a rookie to be you know in that kind of situation week one get to start on the outside I thought he was really good I actually I thought I thought he was better than expected right because it's from to you don't know what you're getting and you understand that coming into it he comped he competed yeah I thought q q showed some things tonight that I really like and some of the physicality you know I know on that late ball on the last drive you know got flaged on did he get flag oh no no no the one that got completed yeah yeah you got spun around a little bit Yeah but he smoked them on you know he smoked sideline and I I like my Corners that that want to you know put nose yeah want to put their nose in this something so I think you can take a lot of great things out of him obviously Reed I thought CJ GJ was fine like he wasn't bad that missed every tackle he just miss too many tackles but also there was a lot of tackles there's way too many besides the touchdown like some of the runs were like dude I feel like nobody was in 25 feet of these guys yeah so that also when you're in that much space Miss tackles happen too but that's no I'm not trying to make excuses um daryus slay don't want to tackle nobody um that hasn't changed yeah Josh was on a mil car all night yeah I was a little I was a little outside of a couple flashes from as you mentioned Carter and Davis I was a little upset and and worried about our our ends right I didn't feel like until obviously that last Drive where they finally got the you know love and of course Willis right but we didn't we didn't pressure the quarterback very much no I we have to go back and see how many pressures they ended up like having right like I don't know how many they you know total they had sluggish the offense started or even the offense m defense but especially when you're trying to break in a new centered quarterback combo do do you go back and think about a series or two in each of the preseason games now and and rethink that decision to not play any starter any amount of time I'm not saying quarters I'm not saying halfs but when you're breaking in a quarterback Center exchange after one of the goats of all time I feel like some of this stuff could have been could have been fixed Andor remedied before we even got here yeah and they they'll tell you that two guys could have got hurt too with the actual a series two Series right A series one game two series the next I hear you I hear you but me Patrick Mahomes can do it right like Patty was out there I get in every game and I'm usually with you right I'm like I'm usually like who cares it's preseason but this is almost the third year in a row where we've started off in the first half or the first quarter and our offense has looked like [ __ ] and and you almost and you almost wonder why not play a little bit well you're saying you're almost with me like you're usually with me I'm not telling you that I don't think it should be done I'm telling you what they're going to tell us because of the extra game they don't want the wear and tear that's their that's their thought process if you're asking me what I would do I you know with that situation you revisit it now you think about it like you know what yeah I I I think you know I think a series in in in the first preseason and a series in the second preseason who gives a crap you know one series see if you can get some of the C cobwebs out I I don't have a problem with it they just do that's what I said I was like he was like you're asking me a four and three if R stay healthy yeah know they're big that was a great read on that ball too read read right that was a great and back to Zack bow he had great coverage on that to allow him to allow him to come through that ball like that and that ball has to be thrown you know you know the outside the outside shoulder to lead him and you give you give your guy an opportunity to go get that football so it starts with great covers by your linebacker which we're not used to talking about no for sure we're not used to talking about I I how many tackles did niobe have uh noobe had four three you know Jordan love on the other side so right our defense and he missed a lot of open throws but he was 17 of 34 for 260 and he had that 70 yard to J Jaden Reed he was 83 because he only threw the one pick and he had the two t two tutes but hell Jacobs under 100 yards right Wilson guy the other guy Wilson only had 48 yards or 46 yards they ran they ran and then you had that one one30 yard for Reed for the touchdown right so how many they rush for 163 is a team yeah but the one the one was an end round right and still RS for 133 though or 131 so yeah that's gota get that's gotta get cut down I'm not saying it's gota be under 100 like we're playing in 90 J Jacobs wasn't really a factor till till second half right and I was you know as a betting guy I was hoping you know I could get my it himself right their offense was rolling with Jacobs they put Wilson in and all of a sudden they didn't know what they were doing on offense I almost felt like I want Wilson in the game because he he wasn't doing much right right he their offense sputtered at that point I liked it yes do we have to clean it up better but I'll take holding everybody to 100 yards and one trick play right you're talking about 130 yards between two guys I'll take that g be terrible uh uh Tristan I seen nothing as of yet not that I've heard I did like I I I love the offense I love the motion you know certain sets the part of what that that drive where they had will Shipley in the game and they were running two running backs and they were using Shipley a lot in motion I really like that series and and that one play where Devonte went to look like he was gonna block for a Shipley screen and then snuck in between on that zone and and uh Jay was able to find him there for the pass I thought what they were able to do with the motion and the weapons that we had Jaylen had a lot of opportunities to throw a lot of through a lot of guys and he just wasn't as decisive right away yeah um I don't know what half two hours before a football game and we're expecting that to be like fair you know what I mean like that's such that's why that's why I hate these like these event games these games that are at you know in other areas like you want to do a neutral sight field do a neutral sight field put it in us where we know [ __ ] is working right it's a joke it really is a joke yeah yeah I thought the defense look good I I really I thought there was a lot of spots too though Tommy where guys were too wide open right guys were wide open running around I thank God Jordan love wasn't very good tonight because I don't know that this game is is a win if Jordan love is good but where I will really give the defense credit is inside that 20 yard line inside that that you know Red Zone they locked up and and when you have those two turnovers in in that part of the field where we did to start the game and you're only letting up six points that's when that's a win and that's why we won this game because think I Jamar I don't think this looks like last year when you talk about sloppy wins because one that's a good team over there but two you scor 34 they weren't scoring 34 they I think they were averaging like 25 a game 26 a game before they before they fell off last year it's a big difference and the other side Jamar I I kind of had that thought too like while the game was going on I I wanted to see a difference than all right we just coming out with a win right we just came out with a win and be happy with that but there was there was a lot more explosiveness and there was a lot more uh con I guess want to say concentration in that final drive there to to seal that game away that we didn't see when we were coming out with wins uh last year right uh I thought there was a there was a a mental jump that they took to win this game because they knew they needed it right uh so that's where I'll differentiate because I I that's where I'll differentiate from last year because I thought the same thing Jamar uh I I thought we were maybe looking at that but then that last drive and the defense putting it on too kind of sealed that away like no this is a different team right now and yes they found a way to win but they found a way to win because they made it happen not that the other team gave it to him yeah we throw Little AJ in there on BTO I mean he went over 100 B Mari says great win today looks like the Panthers will see you guys in the championship game um Jamar says love that final drive I agree so I mean listen it's a great win and then Don has a baby p on Tom
