Opinion: ESPN & Directv

so I get a phone call from Direct TV on Friday we would like to thank you for being a loyal customer for so many years and we're going to offer you all this free programming you're going to get more channels there's going to be movie channels we just need you to say that it's okay so we're just calling you to get your permission to go ahead and let you have this now I thought that was rather odd because I've been with Direct TV for many many years and they do free previews all the time we're going to temporarily give you this movie channel for a while and of course the scheme is if you don't notify them you don't want it they just go ahead and add it to your package and then they want you to pay for it no thank you I'm not interested and I find out today that ESPN has been pulled from Direct TV I should have seen it coming I didn't follow that on the news found out over the weekend that it was potentially coming so ESPN is off of Direct TV for millions and millions of people Walt Disney a a multi-billion dollar company is involved in a pissing contest with another multi-million dollar company over money and the consumer who was responsible for making Walt Disney a multi-billion dollar company and who was responsible for helping Direct TV make their Bank all the years they've been in the satellite business they're the ones that get dumped on while they fight and argue over money so my TV has a message on it because I'm not getting ESPN we're working to offer you greater flexibility choice and value how is me not getting my ESPN channel giving me choice how's that providing me with flexibility how does that offer me value is my bill going to be lowered on a pro-rated type of basis for each day that this dispute goes on where's my value well I don't know what you're complaining about they called you on Friday and offered you a bunch of free programming but you have to be difficult don't you just like you do on these videos when you complain about politics you can't be reasonable can you you have to be stubborn yeah now they've got about a week to get this resolved before Direct TV starts getting some phone calls from some people we're going to be switching if you don't get this resolved we'll be doing something else streaming is going to be the end of satellite TV more than likely it won't happen anytime soon but streaming is a part of the future the scam that people don't understand that I and other members Generation X have to explain to some of the Millennials and some of your gen Z as soon as the streaming puts the satellite companies out of business because there won't be an alternative competition is a good thing not everybody wants to watch things things over a phone or on a laptop computer there were still some people who would like to see things on a television set and they don't want to do it with streaming but this is where we're all headed and it's all about the money it's always been about the money and the consumer has to get dumped on in the end now fortunately for me personally the Iowa Iowa State game is going to be on Channel 8 locally here in Iowa so this isn't a big deal there the Dallas Cleveland game is going to be on local Fox 17 so there's no big deal there but if we get to a point where not having ESPN causes me not to be able to see one of my teams I'm going to get a little bit more bothered but for right now you got to have some patience Captain America talked about that in one of those end scenes during a Marvel movie patience and sometimes you know you end up being disappointed and you wondered why you waited so long comments are welcome what are your thoughts on Walt Disney and Direct TV ruining your day maybe your weekend feel free to leave a remark mark this is life with thunder on YouTube
