the hypocrisy of charging juveniles as adults in the Georgia school shooting and charging the father of the shooter with manslaughter needs closer examination a call for consistency in our justice system please like this video and follow me I would appreciate it very much in the wake of the tragic school shooting at appalachi high school the decision to charge 14-year-old cold gray as an adult has sparked significant debate as a retired law enforcement officer with extensive experience I find this ision deeply troubling and emblematic of a broader hypocrisy within our justice system developmental concerns and legal inconsistencies are justice system acknowledges that juveniles are fundamentally different from adults scientific research shows that juveniles brains are still developing particularly in areas related to decision-making impulse control and understanding consequences this developmental stage makes them less culpable for their actions compared to adults consequently we have laws and procedures in place to treat juveniles differently focusing on Rehabilitation rather than punishment however when it comes to heinous crimes like murder or rape these developmental concerns are often disregarded charging a juvenile as an adult in such cases seems hypocritical and inconsistent if we truly believe in the developmental differences between juveniles and adults this belief should be consistently applied regardless of the crime severity the current approach appears more driven by emotion and a desire for Retribution than by science and fairness the case against cold Gray's father the charges against Colin Gray Colt's father also raised significant concerns he faces multiple charges including involuntary manslaughter and second deegree murder based on the allegation that he was negligent or reckless in providing his son with a firearm these charges are subjective and have not yet been proven in a court of law a call for fairness and Justice as someone who has dedicated their career to law enforcement I am pro-law enforcement but also Pro fairness and Justice our justice system must not be driven by emotions or a desire for Revenge it should be consistent fair and based on objective evidence charging juveniles as adults and filing serious charges against individuals without thorough judicial review are practices that need to be re-evaluated we must strive for a justice system that upholds the principles of fairness and due process for all even in the most emotionally charged cases
