Tracking NATO's ISR Flights Near Ukraine -- June Until August

hello everyone something different here Oran Intel has shared some of its satellite Data Tracking ISR flights in the Ukraine region the information we're going to look at today is from 20th of June until August the 30th it's been a while since we've had a look at this sort of data but last time is with flight was playing now which is from August until December last year so I thought it were worth a look and a comparison to see if any new regular flights have occurred any new aircraft being used any new areas for for NATO flights or any aircraft which aren't being used anymore so this is a data from last year August to December the last dat to which we have now I'm going to play the last three months June until August each aircraft type is colorcoded and I'm going to go through each aircraft and its roots soon so you can see a variety of aircraft types covering different locations near Ukraine now this shows us The Roots it doesn't show us how many flights actually took place and it doesn't show us the days each flight took place first here's a comparison of the two overall on top is last year's data on the bottom is this year's and straight away you can see that there's actually been a decline of NATO intelligence flights in the region far few were showing notably around the Black Sea in crier however some of this is likely due to the global haulk drone turning off it's transponder in the past few months I'll get to that later overall aside from CME there is a definite reduction in flights unfortunately however as we don't have other images from this year I can't say if a flight reduction is sold in the past three months or it's been over the whole year let's have a look at it in a bit more detail I'm going to look at the recent data first and then show the data from the same aircraft flight from the last year so we get an idea of which flights are reduced and which ones have possibly increased first off we're going to have a look at the ep3e so this is an electronic signals reconnaissance aircraft a variant of a P3 Orion and it's operated by the US you can see very few ep3e flights took place patrolling the Costa Romania never Black Sea these are designed for the interception of signals both Communications between people and electronic signals here last year's flight data see Ras been a small decrease in ep3 Flags but the patrol route was the same next a favorite of mine the E3 awax this aircraft you can see carried out a number of flights some up north in Denmark covering NATO airspace in that region but a big bulk of them took place in Poland some covering the Baltic Sea and kenrad others covering the airspace around Western Ukraine then we have some in Romania covering the Black Sea the radar has a detection range of 3 75 km let's have a look at Deep stakes from the coverage so its coverage from its polish lights roughly is our sh so providing air coverage over parts of belus and over eastern Ukraine Western Ukraine sorry so not much use in detecting missiles and drones approaching Ukraine from Russia itself but it can track these ones which are already flying over eastern Ukraine of way to the Target there here's the coverage of flights in Romania so we can detect missile and drams coming from crier towards such areas as Odessa and over the Black Sea as we got a bit sidetracked a reminder here of the flights from June until August this year and here last year's data so there is a big reduction in the three flights here especially in the area of Romania hopefully we'll see if other aircraft are taken up the slack in this region covering the Black Sea flights from timus a prototype spy plane of Americas which has both electronic collection and the ground scan radar to detect tank movements this is a great aircraft but not too much is known about its capabilities it's also able to gather and interpret radio signals not much has known about it online but last year a report said its sensors can go hundred of miles out and even reach the donbas region so very impressive its route here is along the movan border and Romania covering movements of a black sea and Kier and given its long range of a factor contract movements and the like it will be covering Russian operations in hon zapia and possibly parts of donbas as well so a good bit of Kit by all accounts you can see this carried out a lot of flights in the north it circles kingr like a shark hunting an unfortunate Surfer and also flies up along the border with Russia in the north so artamus is used a lot as you can see with last year's data no major reductions in flights I'm glad to say this is still being used a lot another favorite of mine here the flights of a p8 from this year so you can see this Maritime Patrol aircraft patrols the Romanian Coast covering the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea these contract 256 targets at the same time including objects as small as a periscope so these will play a key role in monitoring Russia's activities in the Black Sea however it's role be lessened somewhat now because Russia has effectively abandoned stopper and is instead operating out of nois out of its range last year are shown here so a small decrease in p8 flights down near Romania no flights over Estonia and lvia so this could be that the flight Transformers are turned off and they aren't being tracked in that area who knows but there is a decrease shown here the rc35 river joint here a lot of river joint flights some in the Black Sea region some along the border with bellus and kaliningrad some covering the the Baltic regions interestingly some flights go over the Black Sea itself I wonder if these longer ones may have coincided with Ukraine's Marine Drone attacks are similar but we can't tell which exact date they occurred and we can't know for sure the reasoning of a river joint flying further out into a Black Sea than usual on a couple of flights here is last year's data so a small decline between the two but nothing too noteworthy the river joint flew pretty much the same routes and again ventured out over the Black Sea in a similar area as seen the rq4 global Haw here and surprisingly this is absolutely massive check out the size of it compared to the fell in the image much bigger than I realized as for the flights you can see it's primarily covering the Black Sea this is a regular route and we see it flying here since the start of war covering the Black Sea in crier and up here never coast of Russia itself we also see global hwk flights along the border with bellus and kaliningrad and up north the Russian Border in the Baltic so this has been very active the past few months this is a high altitude longrange drone that provides surveillance reconnaissance capabilities including imagery intelligence signals intelligence and moving Target indicators compared to last year's data there's a decrease in Global Hawk flights now back in June Russia claims to have intercepted a global hawk on June 27 that wasn't true flight data at the time showed the same Global Hulk Landing a few hours later but the decrease in track flights here does suggest that something may have happened I think there was a intm attempted interception which led to the US now primarily flying the global hawk with its transponders turned off we do still get some flights checked I think a lot of the time the transponders for this have turned off and that's why we're seeing a decrease in glowal Hawk flights from June until August this year finally two from Sweden S100 awks aircraft shown here operates in Al the Baltic and the s102 signals intelligence aircraft which controls of Baltic kaliningrad and did some flights along Poland near the Ukraine border you can see compared to last year the flights of these two aircraft have decreased notably with the s300 S100 even now a few aircraft flew Flats last year but not on this year's data from June until August here we see flights of E7 wedg tail these are seemingly stopped now as have the E8 no idea why whether these flights are too costly to keep running so we've been caught or other reasons such as the aircraft needing maintenance or even them being unsuitable for the tasks that have been withdrawn from operating near Ukraine you can see here the G550 used by Italy has stopped its flights as well no idea why but these threee airframes not flying now seems to account for the bulk of the decrease in intelligence Recon flight near Ukraine so that's it for this video hope you found it interesting in case you missed it on last night's video
