fires. I just wanted to share you trails have been clobbered already because there's a lot of them unfortunately. but as long as we're here I'm in watch. duty. So let's go into watch Judy here. so the bridge fire started, and by the way, this was arson. They found out the bridge fire and the line fire were started by a guy and arsonist. this was started right at the bridge where you go into the bridge to nowhere hike. And let me put on the topographic map here. So we could see. But this is the trail to bridge to nowhere. Right. Here goes up. and that got killed. Here it is. Goes up here. the hike up to Iron, Mountain is done. and here is bridge to nowhere, so this is all burnt on this bridge fire. Now that was where it started it actually took off from there and if we go over this way, it's already burning parts of Mount Baldy village. I was actually going to do Mount Baldy from on the old Mount Baldy trail today. This was earlier and that's right up here that trail is Gone. Bear Flats Mount Baldy and Manker Flats this all looks okay but it is approaching there. It didn't go on to Mount Baldy, Mount San Antonio but it did go. Here and it is going south. It did hit Sunset Peak. So Sunset Peak has gone. What that probably means is that these trails will be gone, will be out of commission for quite a long time. Maybe it's out of the sector. The one area that it is going, let me get out of this, the one area that it is going in, is up, here it is going towards Vincent Gap and Vincent's cabin. It's already burned right mountain, Which is right there, that's the hike. If you've ever gone up the Acorn trail from Wrightwood, it goes up to there. The, this is the root. The the North Ridge route over to Mount Baldy. That's a lot of that's done. the whole Blue Ridge Parkway, which is a great road that goes along the PCT. and the PCT itself have all been closed and burned. There's guffy these are great places to look at Mount Baldy. and the higher peaks in the summer. inspiration, Point Mountain, High I think part of the area burned, but I did hear that these ski slopes did not burn Inspiration point. and you can see here it's creeping up. to Bighorn Mine and Baden Powell which are right here. There's Baden-pell Bighorn. Mine is down here. Somewhere Vincent's cabin. looks like it's so far been spared right there. but that's the bridge far and you can see it's cutting clear across almost like the bobcat fire did earlier four or five years ago, kind of clear across the forest. And if we zoom out here, you can see it almost spent the whole north south perimeter of it. on the south. I don't think it's going that far. There's not a whole lot down here in terms of hiking trails. That I can remember. These are the evacuation zones, it looks like it's going up here to the north. Line. Fire is bad. Let's see. Hold on. Let's see. What how much? How much containment does bridgefire have? zero percent containments? It is Thursday. 9:45ish in the morning. 51,000, acres arson. Line fire. 18% contained, 37,000 acres. And this one is kind of creeping close to Big Bear Lake. I don't think it's gonna be threatened by that. Lookout points is here. here that still safe. And if we go down here, there's that preserve. Where is it with that? little lake? Bluff Lake. So Bluff Lake. looks like it's okay. But if we come closer over here I think The fire tower, the exploration trail, the fire tower. all of that is clobbered. Here it is. Keller Peak Lookout. got burned. Exploration Trail which got hit by a fire. This exploration trail which have a guide to on my website was considered what a recovery. I think it was 50 or 60 years since the last big fire and we were getting big trees again and now those will probably get hit here. There's not a whole lot of hikes in here. There's another fire tower that got clobbered closer down, but this is obviously threatening running springs and a bunch of property up here. but not a whole lot of Trails. and trails. I got clobbered here. The one fire that is raging close to me, and I posted some pictures of this airport. fire 5% contains 23,000 acres. Now this one I was actually working on my watch duty video and this this came up as a brush fire at the little remote Control. airport, Fire airport. This wasn't arson. This was started by construction vehicles. moving boulders so that people couldn't park. I was had a problem with the fact that they would take it on this road on this Trabuco Canyon road to Holy. Jim um, they say, I guess because the fire fire Hazzard, but obviously, the fire hazard was the construction. stuff moving stuff around but anyway here Holy Jim has probably the worst luck of any trail in Southern California. This just opened. I think earlier in the year, the whole trail for hikers last year, it opened to the waterfall, which is right there. but this is now burned again. Santiago Peak. I think these cameras are old one is the feed from. oh minute was running, huh? Let's say we're getting a feed from Let's see if the fire still happening. Anywhere. I was able to see a lot of this fire from my house. I think it's petering out here. It did knock out Majeska. Peak and five Points, which is right. Where's Five Points? I was just on it. Right down here. Joplin Trail is clobbered. This is all gone. This is all burn. There's fish camp. That's another way up to Majestic Peak. This is all burned. whereas five points, it is heading towards Majeska Canyon. but it's not quite there. I think this is sort of petering out. I haven't seen any flames over here. Recently. Harding Truck. Trail across Harding Truck Trail. And you can see up here, where's Five Points? Oh, here's Five Points Maple Spring. So it didn't didn't get quite that far yet. But it is going this way towards Lake Elsinore. and then it did cross Route 74 or take a highway and it is creeping down towards like Elsinore here in terms of what it did over here, it did not reach the candy store. yet. This is Ortega. Oaks the candy store, it's San Juan Trailhead famous trailhead. It did burnt Keto Falls, which is around here and it is going into the San Mateo Wilderness. The Morgan Trail is up here. and it did go on to the Morgan Trail. So it is moving. It's not really contained obviously the firefighters are trying to Get the places that are structures protect structures and everything. and this is pretty remote wilderness. If you're not familiar with the area, this is pretty hardcore. Oh also also worth noting Sugarloaf and new Sugarloaf are in the fire and it's creeping down towards Casper's Wilderness Park, which is right down here. You can see it's kind of close Casper. Let's take a look at this guy. Doesn't look good part of this. We had a marine layer today, but Overall doesn't look that great there. So anyway, that's what's happening. If you want to resource, watch duties, a great one. Also, if you go on caltopo, this is free. You don't even have to have an account or anything. You just go to fire activity. turn the fire activity on. You can also get good. Perimeters of the fire and see what trails are on there. We can change the map builder told Book, topo, and see, all the trails are underneath. so, That's what's happening with the fire. I just wanted to bring you guys up to speed. I've been watching this and get the Watch Duty app. I'm just sort of in shock. Because, you know, it's it's all of our hiking areas. The southern part of San Bernardino National Forest and burned by Mount San Jacinto. and I know wild, but a lot of the other areas have burned. and I always, when I got in a hike, I always marvel when I don't encounter forest fire damage and now we have three huge areas of our hiking area here in Southern California that are Impacted by these fires. Hopefully, this will be the end of it, but I'm just not holding my breath on that one. Anyway guys. thanks for watching. I'll do a follow-up on
