the 2024 football season is almost here and if you haven't been paying attention then get ready for some big changes first of all the biggest change anyone has ever seen in football the kickoff rule they're flipping it on his head this is how it's going to be let's take a look at it right so over here we have the kicker the kicker is on the 40 yard line oh no 35 yard line and he's going to kick it to the opposing team right when he kicks that ball the ball has to land in the landing Zone which is right about over here the ball has to land in that Landing Zone and it has to be touched by one of the players on the receiving team before anyone can move from this neutral zone right but these kickers I think kicking is going to have to change these kickers are going to have to get some size they're basically paying free safety at that point because once that ball lands in the landing Zone you know those guys can take it and they can return it now let's look at how this is set up on the scrimmage line if you're on the kicking team you have two players outside the numbers so that's between the numbers and the sidelines you have three players between the inside hash and the numbers and you have that on both sides so that's 10 people lined up on the 40 yard line of the opposing team and you've got your kicker back there playing free safety after he kicks the ball now these guys can only move when the ball lands in the landing zone or it's touched by the receiving team once the ball is touched then it's freefor all I I don't know where you called it when you when you were growing up but we all know it's called Murder ball kill the man with the ball this is basically what this is right now if you're on the receiving team this is going to create new positions we got two guys in the receiving Zone and we have the other nine players lined up right there so there's three levels like there was before but it's a bit tighter now how these defenses and or how these special teams guys can play this it's all up to them this is brand new we haven't seen any like this right but once the ball land in the landing Zone if it lands and it rolls into the end zone you get the ball at the 20 yard line every ball must be down so the team receiving the ball has an opportunity to return on every single play Anything Can Happen this will add 1,600 more plays to the NFL season all throughout the season just this one rule change football is about to be electric so if the ball lands in the landing Zone then the person pick it up and the other team gets to tackle them that's probably one of the best case scenarios right or the ball rolls into the end zone and that in turn gets you to the 20 yd line so both of those get you to the 20 yard line right but let's look at what happens if you kick the ball out of bounds or you kick it short then the other team automatically gets the ball at the 40 yd line that's one pass away one big run play or one defensive mistake and they're already in field goal range and you know who's coming out right do you really want to see Harrison buer kick the Chiefs all the way to the Super Bowl oh please I'm not ready for it I'm really not ready for it can we not do it I don't want to do it I don't want to see him I don't want to see the Chiefs I don't want to see Taylor Swift Travis Kelce Patrick Mahomes and it's not that I'm tired of them it feels like the fix is in so when you receive it you could do lateral this opens the game up big time but make sure you're drafting players in your fantasy football and when you're picking players to do these big returns make sure you're thinking about that this is going to be the key difference between you winning and those other guys losing there's big changes going on make sure you're prepared talk to me
