they tell me you're not a slider would that be an accurate statement when you run football uh I don't know um kind of just whatever the team needs like it depends on the situation stuff like that uh at the end of the day you got to protect yourself cuz there's uh there's some guys out there that aren't too fond of quarterbacks obviously but uh on the defense but uh you know making sure you protect your body if it's for if it's for a first down on fourth down or a touchdown then probably uh I mean do whatever it takes bu just told us you're an old school type of quarterback um is that something you pride yourself on uh I don't I don't really know I haven't really I wouldn't really classify myself as anything I I haven't put too much thought into it uh just working on moving the chains uh making sure uh distribute the ball to The Playmakers they uh I mean that's what they're here for catch the ball make plays hand the ball off then make plays so uh basically just doing my job is what I'm focused on yeah part of being a quarterback is you know being a leader of the team and you're obviously new brand new this year how do you feel like just creating those relationships has gone for you this offseason you feel like you're in a good spot entering the Year yes sir uh leadership is uh very important at the quarterback position um it's actually like what my masters is in is Communications and leadership development so uh being able to take some of the stuff from the classroom and uh put it on the field but at the end of the day it's all about just uh just making sure you lead your ship like that's basically how I uh define leadership it's pretty simple but it's uh it's pretty accurate as well and uh I think it's been going well uh making sure uh you have command of the offense and um make sure everybody's on the same page all at all times so things been going pretty good so far the helmet com has been kind of a big topic for everyone what's that been like for you like just having that having coach hon in your ear when You' all kind of experiment with it so far uh I've really enjoyed it so far uh basically uh all of our skill players are looking to the sideline for signals and stuff and uh I get it in my head uh the play or whatever and then maybe like a quick reminder if whatever that play is like a specific reminder for that play So I've really enjoyed it uh then obviously still have time to do my little pre-play routine whatever I'm normally doing uh where I'm getting my eyes who I'm looking at stuff like that so I really enjoyed it what's kind of been the biggest adjustment for you from Georgia to to Kentucky so far uh the biggest adjustment would probably just be um shoot I mean probably just more off the field stuff like uh uh the weather was different this this winter was definitely different um just uh not being close to family some of the friends and stuff like that so just basically just like everything I've known picking up and moving out and uh didn't have didn't have too many friends here but uh definitely been working on that uh hanging out with some of the guys so probably more off the field stuff has been the biggest change found a good fish yes sir gav uh Gavin's awesome he's he's another great dude to have in the uh the quarterback room um he he takes his rep serious when he's in there and uh we're all learning from each other so he was a great addition for the quarterback room me Bo and cutter really appreciate him and the stuff he's done for us anybody surprise you from like step up from Spring to where you are two days in um basically spring was really good being able to throw with most of those guys out there but obviously jamori wasn't really full go if if practicing at all during the spring so being able to see him out there this fall has been awesome he's he's been flashing and uh same with Fred Fred has been balling out he's had a good two days and uh but it's all about just stacking days at this point you know like two days in yeah maybe you get up you're kind of tired whatever I mean everybody else in the country is doing it so uh just what are you going to do to separate yourself and uh Fred Fred's had a good two days Jam Mo's had a good two days and the rest of the white out cor as well same guys from Spring like we talked about earlier but those two guys have definitely popped on the first two days you look forward to a fan day like tomorrow oh yes sir uh I think it's always good being able to uh get to know the fans you know hang out hang out a little bit after maybe some before maybe not too much before try to get locked in but uh hang out with some after and uh basically just seeing like a preview of the Season stuff uh I mean it'll be probably what would that be the fourth practice tomorrow so I mean obviously still some some ins and outs that we're fine tuning and stuff but I think it's always good that when we get to get in front of BBN Nation on jamori last year at North Texas he was kind of really kind of a vertical receiver made a lot of plays down the field have you seen that play out so far in the limited time you've gotten with him and being kind of that vertical weapon for you all yes sir I think uh we got him playing some slot right now and some outside stuff right now so he he can really do it all so it's basically just making sure uh whatever rout he's running he's going to have some good separation so therefore it's my job to give him the ball but uh he's done everything we've asked him to do whether that's inside or outside and he's been winning his one-on ones he's been being smart in zone you can tell he's a really polished receiver and uh he's he's had experience so uh that's something you can never complain about as as a player how much do you guys think about the preseason poll if at all the the poll yeah the preseason poll where they have you guys at oh dude I haven't even looked at it uh I mean I mean whatever it is if it's good or if it's bad at the end of the day like you can't take the highs too high the lows too low uh same thing coming off a day at practice like I mean it's never as good as you think is never as bad as you think so uh I mean we can't we can't control what the poll says right now all we can do is control that week one and just just practice this fall camp like we would if we were one or if we're 70th it don't really matter like we're trying to get better for tomorrow practice watch the film get better for the next day basically all we're thinking about right now is the next practice told us that one of the things he learned from Spring is that the competition level at these position groups is so high he's got to get creative with is you know uh skills with with the Poss groups and uh and the kind of personnel he sends into the game as a quarterback having that many options is it exciting for you oh yes sir uh one of the things with Coach hamton uh we've built over the spring and summer and a couple days into fall Camp is just trust and uh I'm going to trust whatever coach hamon calls whoever he calls to be out there is going to be in the right position at the right place and the right time and uh at the end of the day whoever he thinks is say we have someone that runs the a dig route the best and they're going to be out there on Saturdays around that dig route so uh basically just making sure that we're putting oursel in the best positions to win and whatever that looks like with Coach hamon looks good for me Brock you had to learn I mean you came in you coach Coen was here and then you made a change coach so you had to learn like two playbooks in the offseason um how challenging was that and then maybe what is it about um hamon's offense that maybe like seems like simple is a big word do you feel like the Simplicity of it's going to allow you'all to play faster uh yeah I don't know if I would say simple is the best word but uh it's definitely like it's just efficient is what comes to my mind when I think of Coach Hampton's offense cuz it's basically like so the first install uh we basically had a couple runs in but there's like 10 pages for those couple runs cuz there's 40 different ways to run them so making sure that we're fine-tuning like hey this guy comes in motion you still have this job to do so it's basically just it's dressing up a lot of stuff that looks we're running the same play but it looks like 40 different things so that that comes in with our Run game comes in with our pass game and uh basically getting eye violations from the defense with our our play action stuff like that making sure our play action looks like run uh stuff like that but um I I've really enjoyed coach Hammond's offense so far and um looking forward to obviously more fall you had two coordinators at Georgia did that kind of experience going from coach monin to coach boobo kind of help going to coach Coen to coach hon um basically I think the biggest jump uh which comes to mind is high school to college uh High School playbook is a High School playbook B like we're basically just freaking at recess just drawing stuff up in the dirt out there but uh not really but uh tell your dad that no no but college is definitely it's just a lot it's a lot bigger Playbook and going into coach monkin system that's obviously NFL system so that was just like trying to drink from a fire host as a as a freshman coming in there in January but uh I mean I learned U basically once you learn your first Playbook uh collegia Playbook everything else is not going to be too crazy different because in football everybody runs Duo everybody runs inside they're going to call it different stuff they're going to break down defens is different but as long as you learn coach Hampton's verbiage then you're on the same page like just breaking down defense stuff like that thanks BR nothing good happen your experience in the Big 10 help prepare you for football um you know I think just just getting those experiences uh you know um all those games you know Big 10 play it's definitely a different style play but you know it's it's still football at the end of the day and um you know getting those experience in games it definitely does help um you know playing against uh Penn States Ohio States michigans and uh everybody else in the Big 10 really just every every week you got to prepare for a game and and um it's the same way here so yeah Gavin going back when you just going back to your high school recruitment what did you kind of remember about that relationship with Kentucky and then did any did any of that stick out to you right away when you decided to move on from Ruckers um uh our relationship in high school you know recruiting was great um you know being from from Kentucky and I getting to represent my home state um just at the time it just wasn't the right fit and I think um coming in the second time is a better fit than uh you know the first time uh and H honestly probably um you know everything happens for a reason so I think uh I got the opportunity to come back here and and uh do all this I'm grateful grateful to get to come back here and uh you know get this opportunity what anything specifically that made it a better fit um you know know um I would say you know the thing that stood out to me most this this time coming around was uh coach Hampton's offense you know um I just think I really fit into it and I could be a great asset to this team and help them win so obviously you you became like a huge part of the Ruckers rushing attack last year and bush hamon has talked about we're going to run the quarterback is that something that you felt like you that fit for you and something you could add uh to the offense uh definitely um and and as well as uh you know passing as well but you know definitely the rushing aspect of it you know with uh you know that being our thing last year so and you you had a couple coordinator changes at Ruckers right is that right yeah this fourth yeah fourth so fourth in four years do you think I asked Brock the same question but you think those you know going through a coordinator change before do you think it helps you now when you go to a new school and changeing coordinators again I I totally agree 100% um I think just having those experience with different coaches who like different cont Concepts or like different things and or just the way they teach it cuz uh at the end of the day you know I look at it and so it's all football it's all Concepts same Concepts just different ways to run them uh different formations to run them out of and uh just different ways to teach them as well so I you get to see that part but you know at the end of the day it's all football so you know helmet coms are coming this year yeah I don't know if you've got a chance to experiment it with it or not just just just you and me talking here do you like it or you rather him be out of your ear when they're when they're on on the field I like it you know and then there's to an extent you know but you know sometimes coaches getting on you but I like it you know get the get the communication faster and you know uh just little little details that he can remind you of you know during during a play or like right before it goes off so yeah and as a passer is there anything you're specifically trying to work on or hone your craft in some specific area enter in this season just consistency and accuracy really you know just kind of build off that um you know just keep working on my feet you know because that's where it all starts so uh really just consistency and accuracy so yeah and um all of the quarterbacks in this room are new we're not out on the Kentucky roster last year do y'all talk about that at all and how unique is that we have a little bit and you know I think it's I think it really is is neat you know cuz we all come from different places so we all especially you know Bo was here but and then he he he played and then came back so he he does he has different experiences as well so I think it's neat how we all get to talk about um you know kind of compar not comparing but you know like how different is this than you know uh I think it's really neat and it's cool so thanks G thank you
