that's tied the most tied for the most touchdowns by any player in a game in Colorado history and know by the way he plays some pretty good defense too for more on Hunter's case to be in the Heisman conversation here's Heather denich from get up this morning can Travis Hunter win the Heisman trophy with a losing record and dear fellow Heisman voters the answer should be yes he can because no one else in the sport is doing what he is doing he's only the fourth player in 24 years to have three career interceptions and eight career receiving touchdowns last year he played over a th000 snaps over 500 on offense over 400 on defense 23 on special teams he's so good all over the field you don't know where to draft him offense or defense take your pick he missed three games last year he had a lacerated liver against Colorado State listen I'm telling you guys the award goes to the best player in college football not the best team that's the national championship trophy and if this guy can stay healthy and continue to do this all year with over a 100 snaps a game how is he not the best player in college football prime time last night on ESPN Colorado took on North Dakota State at home beating them 31 to 26 but the game was about their two biggest stars shador Sanders and Travis Hunter shador Sanders completed 26 of 34 passes for 445 yards four touchdowns by the way three of them to Travis Hunter who is that dude by the way as for Hunter that's who I'm talking about in addition to his three touchdown catches for 132 yards he also lined up on defense playing for a total of 129 snaps in the game didn't get a break didn't get a rest at all head coach Prime Time Deion Sanders accepted the win but expressed anger with his team's defense defensive per performance yielding 26 points and 449 total yards now here's what Deion Sanders had to say he was happy with the win but he was going to have to suppress his anger because he was disgusted at some of the boneheaded plays and some of the mishaps his team committed to get the negative out of the way first let's understand something here the Colorado buffalo gave up 449 yards total it was to an FCS school not an FBS school so let's get that out the way North Dakota State ain't no joke nine-time champions in their programs history but nevertheless it shouldn't be a situation where their CH can up and accumulate 449 yards now to Colorado's credit they had what was it like 20 points in the first half and Colorado was down 20 to 17 that means they held North Dakota state to six yard to six points in the entire second half that's clearly an improvement from last year no doubt about that but 449 yards when you were giving up an average of 453 yards for the season and you were one of the worst defenses in college football I know that Don Deion Sanders has worked on a lot of things this off season clearly their defense wasn't really really one of them at least in the first half I know what wasn't worked on at all the running game because it was virtually non-existent it really really was and so when you look at it from that standpoint there's some trepidation to exist on the part of the Colorado Buffalo not to mention their game management situation why the hell are you throwing the ball and that wasn't Prime time's fault that was his son doing you know ad living a little bit and and and calling an audible and doing his thing trying to get somebody involved that hadn't been that actively involved because Travis Hunter and this kid Jimmy horn Jr were busy doing most of the damage and he wanted to get another dude involved but you don't pick up the football on a first down and throw the football when all you need to do is run out the clock because the opposition has one timeout remaining and after that the game will be over that's just not smart that's just not smart having said all of that that ain't really the story that ain't really the story we know Colorado doesn't have much of a running game we know they don't have a bunch of hogs on their squad and they're undersized we know that you can run rough shot over them on the offensive side of the ball and do pretty much whatever you want for the most part and they're going to have some trouble defensively this year but what we can't deny is that shador Sanders is a bad brother this Brother's Something Special okay his Poise in the pocket his athleticism his willingness to stand in there amongst the Giants and take hits take punishment got to give credit what credit to do he only got sacked once after being sacked in FBS wrecked 52 times last year or FBS most 52 times last year during the regular season he only got sacked once only got sacked once last night so that wasn't Improvement but he was running for his life half the damn time he was out there and he was getting popped silly after he released the ball on a few occasions as well so that is not good but his ability to continue to make plays under duress I believe cements him as a Sure Fire first round pick and one of the top two quarterbacks that's going to go in next Spring's NFL draft shador Sanders I don't know if you can legitimately pick maybe this C this cat back out of Georgia somebody maybe somebody like that but I don't know if you can pick anybody else ahead of shador Sanders and when you consider his pedigree and the fact that Yes Prime Time Deion Sanders is your father the greatest quarterback in the history of football arguably the greatest athlete who ever lived Prime Time Deion Sanders is in that conversation y'all know he's in that conversation when we look at some of the greatest athletes that we have ever seen in the history of this country if not all of mankind Dion Sanders is in that conversation you can bring up Jim Brown you can bring up Michael Jordan you can bring up LeBron James you can bring up a whole bunch of people you got to put his name up in there Prime Time Dion Sanders one of the greatest if not Bo Jackson let's not forget him but when you think about just athleticism arguably the greatest athlete in the history of man is prime time Deion Sanders could play football could play basketball could play both sides of the ball in football could play special teams I mean the brothers special and you see what Travis Hunter is doing he doesn't come off the field playing for Dion he plays wide receiver he makes plays so that catch in the end zone in the right corner of the end zone with the dude draped all over him in his arms he still caught the damn ball the brother is special and here's a legitimate question ladies and gentlemen if you have an opportunity a top pick in the draft knowing how important the quarterback position is in a sport of professional football do you automatically take the quarterback or do you say yo if it's a choice between shador Sanders and Travis Hunter what do you do do you automatically go with Sanders or does Hunter give you cuse for pause and say yo wait a minute this brother's allpurpose brother he could play wide receiver in the slot wide out outside the numbers he can play cornerback he could play safety what do you do he could play free safety he could play one of the quarterback positions in the National Football League he can definitely play wide receiver with his speed what what can you say I got to look at that and say yo it's it's not that easy of a decision now me personally I'm gonna go with the quarterback because I see how important the quarterback position is in the National Football League but it it it does give me cause to pause I can't front I got to look at it from that standpoint that's just where I'm at with it so I got that out the way all right these two brothers right here are something special to behold and this cat Jimmy horn Jr that chalked up about 198 receiving yards his damn self this brother is special he's the fastest dude on the team I just look at Colorado and here's where I'm at you're still undersized and when you go up against them Hogs them meat and potato Brothers you understand eating whole chickens and turkeys and stuff like that for breakfast I just have a hard time trying to figure out how you going to survive with standing that for a full season and moving to the Big 12 and that conference although it's not the SEC or the Big 10 still more physical with more Talent than the Pack 12 that they were in you went four and eight last year you lost eight of your last nine games including six straight although five of those games you know obviously it's a Feelgood Friday here with my guys Paul fine bomb Stephen A Smith Bart Scott I'm C good morning everyone but you know what is so exciting for me personally Stephen you can attest to this we're not talking about the drama off the field we have actual football we have real games thank you thank you thank you uh so let's get it started how you guys feeling this morning great great how y'all doing we're great I'm excited yeah we're I'm excited too Stephen you you see Bart Su well North Carolina took a tough ale yesterday you know I love it I love it Stephen A loves a good pastel listen listen A for effort he's really really trying I'll give that much to B Scot he's really trying ain't nothing but love for my brother ain't nothing but love for you need pray though but it's not love Ste Stephen I wear my backup suits here man I don't wear my real stuff on TV what do you save your real suits for that's not true we that's a lie I got like 4 suits Stephen A stop it you know you wear your best stuff on first take don't send that message out come on now there levels all right let's Dive Right In guys uh shador Sanders threw for 400 45 yards four TDS three to Travis Hunter kids the real deal in Colorado began year two under coach Deion Sanders by holding off FCS power North Dakota State 31-26 last night I just had a lot of confidence in myself I told my coach third down give me the ball we going to win this game we going to get up out of here and I did what I had to do catch the ball get a touchdown and let's go you ever felt like [Music] uh you you won but you didn't win but I'm I'm thankful I'm happy we got the W I think 31 NFL Scouts are on hand tonight and uh I think uh they saw what they came to see so let's move on from there I'm going to try my best to hold back my anger but we got the W so I'm happy all right check out this photo of the night that was a touchdown by Travis Hunter unreal all right Paul let's let's break down this game cuz you heard Dion right they won but kind of felt like he lost at the same time so I think we know what where're he's alluding to do you feel better or worse about Colorado after that win I feel better mol and it's because of what we saw I mean this is one of the most exciting Duos I have ever seen in college football in shador and Travis Hunter and to me that they they are the show that the issues are going to come later uh can they say healthy can they survive the gauntlet and can the rest of the team U kick up a little bit more than that defense showed at times last night but this is exactly what they had to do uh anything other than a win was a disaster for Prime and and his Colorado program but they got it and I I I'm not one of those a win is a win I think it's a cliche that's that's very lazy to to offer but the point is that they they were the spotlight of the country that's what people are talking about today whether it's LeBron or anyone else and and that's really what this program is built on it's built on great talent you know in very specific places and it's built on Buzz and they're getting the buzz today and that to me is all that matters are they a great team no are they a playoff team no but they do have a chance now to get a winning record a bowl game and move forward as a program Bart I mean for me it was electric atmosphere it was entertaining but you know what Deon is alluding to is the fact that you know it wasn't the type of dominant win that they wanted to show you talk about Pat Sherman coming over as the defensive coordinator they almost surrendered the same amount of yards that they averaged last year that was worse in in college football um that can be fixed right that can be improved upon but I'm wondering how long can they Captivate the country it was like three games last year that you know they had America's attention TCU and then the W the wins after that but you know they're going to have to play a lot better but what's undeniable is that shadur Sanders is an NFL you know starter in his League probably a first round draft pick I don't know if he goes first or second but I've never seen anything like Travis Hunter I mean we we we talk about you know to me he's the show atani of college football like we've never seen anything like this this dude is one of one he's a unicorn I mean I've seen guys that come in like Charles Woodson that plays maybe a couple of snaps on offense I mean this dude is like a marathon runner he sits there he plays the whole game he doesn't complain he he's a 4.0 student like to me he should be the number one pick and I'm I'm thinking that the New England Patriots are going to be the number one probably have the the number one pick I don't know if I trade down for a team for a quarterback because I want I don't want to miss out on a talent like this we've never seen anything like this and last year he did this but then he got injured he's a he's he's a Heisman candidate he like like we talked about on get up it should be his award to lose even if if even if Colorado is a bold team or not he's that special I've never seen anything like this ever all my years of playing football and watching football that says a lot Stephen A bot's absolutely right I mean you know and we saw Travis Hunter for all the the the the the criticism uh that people would want to throw in the direction of somebody like Terell Owens it's good to see ter loens on that sideline talking to that young brother as a receiver because this brother is special and obviously to is a Hall of Famer but when I think about Travis Hunter him playing on both sides of the ball being an elite Defender plus he seems to win every one-on-one matchup you can find uh anytime he's in one of those situations he's the one coming down with the ball so you know I definitely agree were bought on on that level especially when you look at a a guy like coach Prime Time Deion Sanders and what he was capable of doing on both sides of the ball he's not only the greatest quarterback in the history of the National Football League so far as I'm concerned but also if he wanted to be he could have been an elite wide receiver we saw him play wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys for crying out loud we know what he was as a special teams player with kickoff and punt returns Travis Hunter is that kind of player he's that kind of all World player not comparing the two but I'm just saying you can see why Dion gravitates to him the brother doesn't need to come off the field and plus he's a straight A student major major props to that brother shador Sanders he's got his father's jeans the brother doesn't crack Under Pressure he gets hit a lot sacked the FBS High 52 times last season only got sacked one time last night with an entirely new revamped offensive line all five new starters get credit what credit is Du this brother's special I think he's going to be one of the top two quarterbacks taken in the upcoming NFL draft I think he should be he's that special he's one of those dudes that's a game changer it's going to make a difference put the talent around him and he's going to make it happen he's not going to you know WCE and and cow beneath the pressure he's going to rise to the occasion those are all the superlatives that deserve to be spoken about for Colorado major props to them here's the problem you still can't run the football number one number two you still gave up 449 yards of offense last night that's number two at times it appeared that you know you really couldn't stop you sh you you neutralize them in the second half but that first
