we got to speak to the quarterbacks for the first time at Washington Spring practice a much anticipated media availability session talking first with one of the best passers to ever play in the SEC Conference Will Rogers who transferred to Washington in January he played Four Seasons at Mississippi State through for 94 touchdown passes and over 12,300 yards and I got a chance to ask him how he's taking his veteran status from Mississippi State and forging himself into a leader in this Washington locker room in just one year take a quick listen to his full response you played four years at Mississippi State you were a veteran there what pieces are you taking from there as you know your first year at Washington here to become a leader here in your first year yeah I mean I mean four years is a long time when you talk about like being able to win over the locker room and things like that so I obviously don't have four years here to do it I have you know six months to you know kind of become a leader and things like that so um I've kind of just taken what I've learned from Mississippi State and just try and apply it you know to my daily life here and just be a be a leader in my own way um you know not not any loud R way but you know working the hardest you know being the first one here last one to leave little things like that just to kind of show the guys in the locker room that you know hey you know winning winning is important to me winning is the most important thing to me uh and you know if I'm if I'm in this locker room I'm going to give you know my all for everybody in here and uh just try and show to the guys that I want to win then we spoke to Deon Williams Jr former El 11 quarterback in the class of 2024 a fourstar one of the best quarterbacks in that class he was responsible for 93 passing touchdowns and 42 rushing touchdowns at Bas High School in Arizona I wanted to ask him about what the adjustments like coming to play at Washington in his first few months out of high school what's the adjustment like on the football field playing High School football now your first few months here at Washington uh I would say I went to a pretty competitive high school so I mean we played a lot of bigname schools and got a chance to really uh push us out there on the platform so I would say it's not too crazy of a difference but obviously the speed is definitely different
