Scrimmage Recap [Music] man coach I want to start here with the scrimmage today man just give me a brief recap um you know what did you how did you felt like the team grew today what did you guys focus on what were your overall takeaways from the scrimmage you know from operation standpoint first time really in the stadium everybody on the sideline just wanted to clean up you know uh coaches in the Box got a new um you know offensive staff and uh you know we kind of sputtered in some of the special team organization you know guys kind of running our late so we got to fix that um but this the first time that everybody's on the same sideline being with the special team coach getting the transition piece from getting it called out on the field so we got to clean that up we'll do it again on Thursday uh but for the most part just talking to the refs you know we didn't have any delay of games um on the main groups that was out there so we know from operational standpoint that's good signals uh retention of signals being able to get them on and off the field um offensively you know still want to go fast you know there's some explosives out there I want to hit the ground um and keep the pedal to the metal um I thought we kind of sput a little bit not going as fast not letting the defense uh do any kind of sub uh um you know sub package type deals and then defensively um I thought them guys man was really La uh tapped in um but you know that that staff has worked together now going on second um in the third year so I think we got what we wanted um to be able to see um just from an operational standpoint kind of got humid you know guys going 12 13 play drives and it's the first time that they ever um had to work through that and I thought that was good um you know the anxiety level was different the stress levels was different being in the stadium um you know as opposed to the practice sector so I think you know we got out here it was more so operational piece and the execution Pace more so than physicality but um you know I'm pleased where we at still got to TI some loose end and can't wait uh you know to get back out here Tuesday um you know they need some time off you talking about 17 days with only two days in between of rest so now physically they can start to get their legs um up on them but can't wait to get back on the on the grass tues and and and and get some of these Corrections squared away you have some new faces on the offensive New Offensive Coordinators coaching staff talk a little bit about what you've seen from the offensive Co you know cohesiveness and just how those coaches have kind of started to grow into their roles being with being coming coming to alorn this offseason you know that's really huge um when you think about it you know um coach Gil and K coach AR they was with me at Pine Bluff and they also work together at Bluefield state so that transition is nothing um coach Boo and um coach Fred they already been working together so that piece you got two guys that already kind of know what was going on um and then you get um coach Watson who's you know come from that same tree from the M where coach Gils came from at North Carolina Central um so you know from a staff standpoint them guys really kind of indirectly uh been fellowshipping with each other the system is a system um and so just from an operational standpoint they are way ahead when you look at the power points and you look at all the things they got from a retention standpoint to make sure that the guys know what's going on um you know we're way ahead of the curb um to not have any delay of games today um any um you know false star penalties from operational standpoint so I think you know we we so far ahead on that part and those guys you know when you look at them you think they've been working together forever um and so that what makes that transition that much easier um to make so the the the offensive line is a Offensive Line massive part of the offense I know I've talked to Coach Fred about this a million times on our show how have you felt about the offensive line growth throughout fall camp and is there anything else you want to see from that unit moving forward yeah just a little bit more depth but I'm telling you we probably went from a 65 66 here to about a 902 93 I think that's going to be one of not only the most improved groups but the better group um and we've done this without uh Demarcus Gordon you know 69ine rashan has came in played every snap um of camp and he went against Malachi Bailey every day so to watch him grow at that right Tackle Spot gives us a Quality quality depth um you know Renee has done a good job at the left tackle but Jackson pick it two freshman come in has played the tal and the guard but in that Court when you're talking about Eric alic um you talking about Steve man who played a lot of football and ronal brown I think we GNA have you know one of the best you know calls inside um just you know from guard to guard from a center standpoint so I'm so elated you know with them guys and we just gonna keep pushing we know the foundation is beer from the bottom but it's a lot of depth when you see DK um haris a Southwest transfer come in and play meaningful reps you got Abe um big time um true fresh Metalica that comes in and he got to go against Malachi and he taking his bumps and bruises but getting better so I like the depth up front you know we always continue to get better with some of the blocking scheme stuff because we do so much on defense but those guys are light year ahead when I go back and watch the film from last year just from a system standpoint um you know we just we we like years ahead Defense last question coach I know you take pride in your defense and you want to be one of the top in the conference you guys come in the season with a lot of hype do you feel like the defense is where it needs to be going into the season and for them what do you want to see going into uh prep for week one you know create some more depth um I think we're GNA still have one of the better defenses um units in the league um you know the coaching staff those guys been working together coach Ro has done a amazing job you know with the system and adding his bits and pieces but um when you talk about Malachi Bale and and and Gideon spotsville and you know uh Ed samal you know you got some you know threee starters that knows the system in and out they tough guys not only physically but mentally um you know and so they got that abilitation their mouth from the Texas Southern game and so that motivates them we don't have to talk about anything when it comes down the end of practice the end of Camp you know you can hear them in the back ground screaming you know hey look Texas Southern no fall off that's kind of been their mantal so um you know I'm gonna put that defensive group against anybody in this league you know not from a defensive standpoint but just you know from a offensive standpoint also so um them guys physical they smart you talking about the Maran Edward you know J quiz do inside at them linebacker spies man have played a lot of football so we excited about that group and um we expecting big things going forward coach as always I appreciate you looking forward to seeing y'all suited up in in two weeks man yeah appreciate everything you guys doing for the culture man you know it's really big for these young Brothers to be able to have a platform you know uh on this level to be able to still get some content out about them um and it's huge my mom watches it you know my uncles you know everybody they we in Colorado um in Milwaukee and it just keeps them AB breast but it's also for these kids who moms and dads can't get to see them they can put pull it up on YouTube and hear their name called um so shout out to you guys and all the platforms just doing it the right way so these young Brothers can have their family members and everybody kind of tapped into to them so man we we appreciate what you guys doing for the culture absolutely coach thank you so much man yes sir [Music]
