image he has a vast network of bribery corruption and double dealing in addition to his violence with its decades long crackdowns consolidating power into what would eventually become Guzman's organization Mexico's center-right institutional revolutionary party PRI which ruled the country essentially as a one-party state from the 1930s until 2000 had been accused of complicity in the drug of making another getaway after being recaptured Guzman was sent back to altiplano and his legal team filed numerous motions to prevent the extradition process that the Mexican Government appeared determined to complete this effort by his legal team as we all know did not pay off on July 19th 2019 Guzman arrived at the administrative maximum us Penitentiary adx located in Florence he was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison the drug Lord's incarceration at the nation's highest security prison nicknamed the Alcatraz of the has brought new attention to the prison that critics consider an incubator for mental illness although the federal prison is considered Escape prooof officials worry about Guzman being able to smuggle drugs into the facility mental health professionals note that his track record would push officials to place him in solitary confinement as much as possible Guzman's current wife also got involved criticizing the way he was treated in jail to the media
