tomato ketchup or we prefer gravy with mushrooms so Dustin I'm gonna have you take it away about this question take this take away this question and uh let it let people know about meatloaf your meatloaf preferences all right well um thanks for letting me lead off on this one and uh I have to say I have never I guess I'm a sheltered man I have never had the gravy and mus mushrooms version so I can't really testify and and speak on it because I grew up with the tomato ketchup you know tomato ketchup version that's what my mother that's what my mother made and that's what I always have had so that's what I have thoughts on and and meatloaf for me is a very frustrating dish because when my mother was alive um I liked her meatloaf we love you Lori we love you yeah it wasn't my it wasn't my favorite but I did like her meatloaf and when I moved out I was like you know what Mom can I have your meatloaf recipe please I'd like to you know try to make it Winter's coming I'd like to make I'd like to make it so she said sure she gives me the meatloaf recipe I tried it multiple times and it did not come out as good as mom's like to the point where I didn't even like it I it never does it never does so I'm not sure what I did she kept saying did you use this did you use this I'm like yes I did that I did that and it just it it wasn't it wasn't good so then she made me some and it was much better but uh I've never had the gravy and mushrooms version how about you Ryan I have had both uh my my actually well I haven't had the mushrooms I hate mushrooms oh okay I'm not a fan my for whatever reason my pette my pette goes to this tastes stale whenever I have something with mushrooms in it it's really weird I I know I don't know why maybe because I've never had it properly i' I've had friends told me no you just have you just never had it prop you you've never had them properly prepared I'm like okay whatever it's that's on you um but my sister and this is here's the thing so I I we have the battle of the meatloaf in our family my mom growing up my mom made meatloaf she made meatloaf gravy and and these were the things that came with it always came with it mashed potatoes gravy no mushrooms straight up gra regular beef gravy and a vegetable like string beans corn broccoli what have you that was her meal growing up and she and she still makes I mean Mom love you Mom she still makes bomb meatloaf even with even though she's not as physically she she can't move do the stuff that she can't do she just do physically like her stamina has gone down and whatnot but at least she makes at least she still takes time to make meatloaf and it's always it's always good and we try and my sister and I we God bless us we try we try to duplicate it but we can't duplicate the master we cannot duplicate what the master does you just can't they have like that special touch you know I'm convinced like all moms all moms that actually cook because I have some friends that they're they'll straight up say they're like my mom was a terrible cook she did she didn't have it but all moms that cook they have the special like touch and we all know what the dishes are like I know for as long as I live I will never be able to replicate my mother's apple pie and carrot cake I don't like carrot cake that much but when my mom made it I loved it because there was something about that frosting but that she got right that other people just couldn't do it yeah um yeah I for whatever reason I cannot duplicate what my mom my mom has made for meatloaf and we try our best too we do all the stuff that we supposed to do but for some reason we just could never get it right and on the other side with the flip side my sister-in-law uh Caroline makes meatloaf she she does the other my my mom she'll do stove top so she she do it in a skillet my sister-in-law puts puts hers in the oven loaf pan loaf pan that's what that's what my mom did y yep she does a loaf pan um she uses two different types of meat she uses beef and I sometimes she uses and she uses por and she us pork okay but on top is tomato sauce mhm and last time I had it was when was the day before my niece would went to college uh she now goes to to college out near Rochester uh but that was the meal she requested for her final meal before she went to uh before she went to college so um but wow it's it's and it's the tough competition I mean you can't you can't go wrong with Mom you can't go wrong with what Mom does but my sister-in-law's this clue very close oh yeah is your mom watching live or possibility of the replay you might watch the replay watch hot water oh no I'm not g no I'm no she understands like she gets it like like I mean I'm a meetlo fan period like I love meat love morning sir says mushroom and mushrooms and gravy is good but I think traditionally it's made with ketchup I ask why can't we have both mushrooms and gravy and ketchup I mean I would try that that's not that's not a bad take I'll try it maybe after the show maybe uh six says my mom is a great cook and I learned from her how to improvise especially since I have certain dietary restrictions yeah what happened on Thursday night Thursday night kickoff between Baltimore and Kansas City this is a pretty this is this is it didn't disappoint did not disappoint um both teams got off to a fast start Xavier wor Xavier worthy made his impact immediate and every Bills fan probably hates Billy Bean for trading position draft positions with the Kansas City Chiefs because Bills fans that man could have been yours yeah that man could yours man is he fast man I mean you could just see it you could just see it it was unbelievable only got three touches but man you can you can tell he's going to be a problem I I'm I'm I'm smiling I'm grinning because I have Xavier worthy in both the fantasy football leagues that was a good pick that was a good pick I am not grinning because I am in two leagues this year CJ stad is yet to play obviously but I had Patrick maholmes as my quarterback in the league that I'm playing for a little scratch for and uh I was like oh man I'm good to go with Mahomes as my QB not a momes in performance for this one as far as fantasy points no and I have I have momes in one of our one of our leagues leagues that the league that we're in together yeah okay I for the first time I think the first time ever I have Patrick Mahomes I have dere my backfield is Derek Henry and Christian mcaffrey oh man I I I still can't believe Christian McCaffrey dropped to you number one overall pick Josh shallot everybody that's what happened in our fantasy league that's what happened we usually don't talk Fantasy on the show that's not our bag on this show but I mean this was such this was such an affront to me I think half the league commented like whoa you know like we we the chat was popping off the chat was popping well apparent I guess I guess I I heard from Mike who made that pick he was driving home from Tennessee and his wife had the phone oh okay so if he blames her that you can't you can't do that Mike that's on you man that's on you you're just you're she's just making the pigs 40 she's just being a secretary you're you're the one who made the pick yeah I mean I will say though that's commitment driving home and having somebody else help you with a draft on the phone at least he didn't Auto yeah right oh my gosh I was such an I such a screed about that but no let's let's let's continue the the Thursday night football talk I think Baltimore's o line is going to be an issue yes and they put in a rookie at Right Guard to face Chris Jones Chris Jones that was a horrible idea did you see later in the game Chris Jones was essentially picking who he wanted to go up against you know on some of the later rushes that's how good he is I know that's why he's an all pro you're like yep I'm gonna face that I'm gonna face that guy I'm gonna get a sack yeah it's ridiculous it was ridiculous but you had to be happy uh with your fantasy pick of Derk Henry on that first drive he looked good but let me know if you agree with me Ryan I felt like Baltimore should have kept that going they had the right balance now Lamar Jackson uh looked good in this game a lot of people like to level criticism at him that he can't throw the ball it's not true he can um but he dropped weight and he looks not ibly faster back there running around and the problem is like you said is that offensive line so maybe that's why they went away from the run a little bit but I felt like they should have they should have tried to balance Lamar Jackson and Derk Henry more because Derrick Henry still commands enough attention that even if it's a fake some people are going to you know they're going to they're going to try to watch out for him they're going to say we got to take Derrick Henry down here um but maybe it's because of Baltimore's offensive line which you would hope over the season that they will improve but I don't know it the Baltimore had to go with a lot of quick throws and screens and stuff because the offensive line uh Lamar was not able to get a a he did he wasn't able to get enough time to really set up a deep ball there was a couple of throws but that offensive line could be a big problem yeah yeah I mean it's it's me I think the Lamar Jackson has the escapability that he has that he developed at Louisville am I saying it right Louisville I think I'm saying it right yeah they'll tell you they'll tell me yeah yeah Kentucky but they'll I love Kentucky specifically Louisville because I went there to do the Bourbon Trail but they'll tell you they'll tell you when you uh mess it up they'll call you out if I'm butchering it leave a leave a comment but no no that that ch they I mean look Kansas City only had one sack the r running game for the Ravens yeah you like you mentioned was working that nice B it did have they did have a nice balance they just couldn't put points on the board and actually that one sack that they had which was in their own territory turned it into a field goal so this is going to take some time uh to get used to having such a guy like such a such a outstanding running back as Derrik hen in your backfield and it's going to be a threat once they get comfortable with each other yeah yeah now I got a question for you uh uh Dustin mhm so there were a couple of moments in this game where you kind of I I kind of thought the referees may have had a hand in this game not you don't want as a professional or or in any sport in any sport in any level you don't want the officials making don't want the officials making the uh the out of the game deter the having having a hand in the outcome of the game but there were a couple of calls on this in this game that were very questionable was it for the first I think three I think the Ravens took three penalties in the first quarter in the first two drives of a legal procedure because there was no because there was because the left guard or left tackle was lined up was lined up wasn't lined up correctly but yeah that was a legal formation penalty of it was a for legal formation penalty and a lot of people were know were saying on social media the next day this is not this is not illegal for this is not illegal formation everybody's lined up head head on this is not illegal formation and then you had the very controversial situation the second half or second quarter excuse me where Chiefs are driving they're trying to get they're trying to get another field goal trying to get more points on the board before they go the go in the locker room and Steve bagnolo not Andy Reid calls time out but there's no penalty yeah that see that shouldn't have that should have been called I think I mean because it's the head coach is responsible for the timeouts as far as I understand you can't cor you can't accept a timeout from from anybody else uh at the very least they shouldn't have been awarded the timeout for sure um but then the other thing too that I wanted to get you there was and I can't remember when it was in the game but there was what I felt that was a Ticky Tac holding call that negated I think like a 29 yard run by Lamar Jackson and they called it and I mean he did he did grab him a little bit but it was very like it felt like to me they called it on on the I believe it was the center I can't remember I can't remember which but they called it and I felt that that was Ticky Tac and you know normally I don't agree with uh with one Chris Collinsworth but I think even he said on the broadcast he's like wow they are really calling you know calling that uh and it and it negated a 25 and 29 yard run by Lamar Jackson now like you said you don't want to you don't want to say that anything was going on you do you and as a referee you do not want to affect the outcome of the game but there was there was a couple times where I felt like and it's the first game of the season maybe they got some Rust but you are 100% right about that that timeout that shouldn't have been that shouldn't have been allowed uh I don't know how else to say it and Steve Spagnola was trying to hearken his days as the coach of the St Louis Rams where he's calling timeout I get it no one wants to no one wants to relive those days I would think least of all R not even Rams fan want wants to relive those days those were some hard days right there um I look at the penalties they they were pretty even but there were some but we talked about some opportunistic times where it looked like it the one should have been a call or you know penalties for the Ravens seven penalties 64 yards for the Chiefs six penalties 45 yards now oh I forgot I didn't put this in the rundown but I wanted to get I made a meme yesterday that I posted on the social on our Twitter account and I I'll I'll post it on the in the uh on the show on the uh live stream so the NFL had these new kickoff touch back these kickoff rules where the formation did a lot different now still King from the 30 yard line but the new formation kind of like what the XFL did where both teams one team lines up at the 30 one like the 20 and as soon as the ball is kicked off or it's touched by the opposing player on the kickoff that's when you can start blocking um we didn't see a whole lot of returns in this game so this is the meme that I made and I know Dustin's a big Simpsons fan and I and so am I which is part of the reason why I I made this meme so there you go you got Mo throwing out Barney Mo representing the new NFL kickoff rules Barney representing touchbacks Mo thinks he got rid of Barney but Barney shows up back in the bar oh yeah so many touchbacks in that game yeah we had two returns we had two kickoff returns and that's it yeah I mean I understand the I understand the motivation for player safety because a lot of players get injured on kickoffs I I understand but it's still you're still going to the amount of touch back and you know they're trying to increased the game because of the amount of touchbacks they had last year think we had a record number of touchbacks in 2023 but it's they're still going to have touchbacks yeah just why don't you just put it in the just save us do us a favor and just get rid of the kickoff all together if it's that it's if that's if it's not that consequential anymore yeah just get rid of it just put the ball in the 30 yard line and we'll start want we just start I know it did it did feel like they kind of took and and like you said I understand all the motivations behind this player safety is Paramount we we don't need them we don't need them ramming into each other at high speed head injuries huge thing you got to try to prevent it but at this at the same time I mean this clearly in my fan in in in my experience our short experience with this I don't think this is the solution because this this just it doesn't do what you're trying to have it do and it and like you said it renders the kickoff inconsequential yeah it used to be such a big part of the game now it's just yeah all right well it's just for it's just a formality yeah all right moving away from Thursday night let's talk about first Friday Green Bay versus Philadelphia Philadelphia being the quote home team in this game in St Paulo Brazil and you you know I mean Dustin you unfortunately didn't were to watch the game you I'm prettyy sure you watch the highlights I mean I try to watch here and there but I watch the highlights mostly um saquon Barkley new team same game same guy same guy three touchdowns two receiving two sorry two rushing one receiving had over a 100 yards on the ground this is going to be actually let me let me backtrack here and despite the high score both defenses were making some pretty impactful plays it it's um it's it's it's a defenses were playing pretty well I mean the offenses were moving the ball but when the defense had make a big play but Green Bay especially their defense in the first half with an interception and a fumble recovery got them out to that that get them out to that lead Unfortunately they couldn't hold it because Philadelphia's defense played better in the second half only allow 10 points and got that sack in the last Drive of the game while the when Jordan love was was trying to drive the Packers down the field and unfortunately he goes down yeah that in the waning seconds and looking at social media looking at uh looking at social media this morning some of the doctors that are on Twitter sports doctors that are on Twitter they're saying it could be an ACL they're saying the way he's limping the way he was limping around because he needed assistance to get off the field way he was limping around on one and just checking his leg checking his lower leg his knee his calf yeah I'm not I'm not a doctor I only play one on I only play one on the internet yeah but it appears that it could be an ACL injury or an MCL injury he could be out long term which would suck because the pack if you're if you're a Packers fan you were looking forward to this year based on what happened last year all the surprises that happened last year going to the Wild Card beating the breakes off Dallas and the wild card at J at J all world and then taking the 4 ERS to the limit in the divisional had a lot of Hope coming in this season Jordan love signs a long-term contract and on the second to last play of the game goes down with an injury and hopefully it's not long term hope but you know it's we'll find out on M we'll probably find out on Monday or Tuesday uh what the status is and if we have any breaking news that comes out during this during our show we'll definitely let you know uh the status of that injury also I'm doing uh I'm doing some real time research to Fig out who the bath time who the backup is in Green Bay because I could not remember oh Malik Willis oh that's right Malik Willis I forgot they trade for him at the after right before the preseason ended oh man it might be Malik time in uh it's Malik season wow but here's here's a couple things before I give over to you Dustin I have to wonder what the future of the NFL games are in South America because there are issues with there's a couple things that kind of pull into play especially for Brazil there's political unrest I was mentioning yesterday on Total Football Talk I think it was sik Diggy who was mentioning about the rivalries the regional rivalries for soccer teams both teams wear green they're playing in a stadium of the arch rival team of Corinthians palmeres who wears green they're playing in Corinthians Stadium they got green all over the place Place political unrest I I mentioned on Total Football Talk yesterday that I was streaming I was streaming that stream over on my Twitter account Twitter is no longer allowed or Twitter x what you want to call I call it Twitter that's what call it Twitter X Twitter SLX is banned in Brazil so you can't tweet during the game you can't make any kind of unless you have a VPN but you'll still be you'll still be fine for that and also the field conditions guys were slipping all slipping all over the place yesterday so know this is this is a soccer pitch which is not equipped for football not equipped for American football got guys slipping all over the place it could have been multiple injuries I think I think that in Jordan love injury that pitch had something to do with it so I'm kind of wondering what the future is in in in of the NFL games in South America if they're going to go back if they do go back maybe go somewhere else like AR artina or yeah or or they have to go back to Brazil they have to go back to Brazil but yeah I got to wonder if this is maybe the oneof yeah I mean that is that is a fair point um and like you're saying I did not get a chance to watch this game unfortunately because I don't have PE peacock and I and I continue to Bone I have cable okay I'm one of the few fogies out there that still has cable and it's why why did I pay for cable cuz live sports that's why uh but that is neither here nor there I think you bring up some valid points um regarding the location for these games I understand I understand when you're as big as the NFL you want to get bigger you want to expose your your game to new people you want to bring in new fans um and because because in America they've done the job it is our national sport by far it'll never be stopped now especially with the sorry Dr lady football has NFL has replaced baseball at the national Pastime and I not watching but and it did it did many moons ago you know um until until a c until a certain work stoppage in 199 30 years ago I think I think this week is the anniversary of that uh oh of the strike huh of the Strike wow wow okay okay but but yeah it's our national Pastime here it'll never be stopped you got fantasy football you got gambling on it or sports betting um so with those things the NFL's a juggernaut and I understand they want to expand to different venues they want to bring in uh you know it's it's bad to put it like this but they want to they want to get into what could be an untapped resource Europe makes sense you had the NFL Europe over there back in the day you have you have the info structure and I'm not saying that the NFL should not continue to explore options but what I'm saying you bring up valid points in the in the future you got to bring down you got to bring your players um to an environment that is safe for them yeah and you also have to you also have to make sure that preparations have been made and this is no shade to anyone that prepped that field in in uh Brazil at all that soccer pitch but football's a different animal as it it would it would be like trying to outfit a football field for soccer games which they do do in the in the US for MLS the the Sounders play where the Seahawks play um so there is case but you got to make sure that the the field that you're putting your competitors on is fit for uh fit fit a fit environment for the game to take place you know you don't want to take unnecessary risk and I think some of this might have been unnecessary risk considering the climate in in Brazil maybe a another uh location in South America would be better fitted as you said yeah and and it had to be basically sequestered to their hotels because of the crime rate is so high in in Brazil and plus the I guess the regional rivalry brought up by our friend sik digy the regional rivalry of palis who wears green and Corinth they're playing in Corinthian Stadium which is right nearby which is the play which is the field that they played in the stadium they played in so yeah it's it's I have to wonder if this is a oneoff but the NFL is trying to expand uh flag football is an Olympic sport NFL wants to get their get their fangs into the into the minds and hearts of people worldwide and this is the way to do it they go to places that they don't that the NFL isn't really unless you're expat unless your next Pat the NFL really doesn't have a a mark they don't have a footprint on so yeah we'll see what happens but uh yeah it's going to be interesting to see what they do next season if they go back to South if they go to Brazil they go to Argentina if they go to Chile go to a place where it's a the crime rate is not that high so they have to sequester to lock in all their football all their players in the hotel the beat up security and a place where journalists can have the freedom to be able to give updates on the game on social media while the game's going on and also the field conditions too all right before we go to our only commercial break we just go want to go to the comments section uh siik Diggy saying uh Jackson Lamar Jackson needs to have more trust in his running backs especially Henry yeah I mean it's last year was a new system form with Todd monin bring being brought into uh into the into the Ravens organization as an offensive coordinator having so much success at Georgia this is their second year and this is Derk Henry Derk Henry's first go around in this system so I think he's still learning but I think once they start to get warmed up especially as they go further into the season have to play other they have to play the AFC North opponents in that division they're gonna beat the crap out of each other like I like I mentioned in our preview they're going to have to rely that running game espe with Derrick Henry being so big and so and and so fast so I think I think once the season get more comfortable with each other I think they'll have more trust oh Nan asking are Simpsons fan called Simpsons fans called simps I think that means something else release the simps he's go first let's start off with the most intriguing matchup in week one Dustin lead us off what's your most intriguing matchup in week one well with my Super Bowl pick for me how could it not be the Jets traveling to Santa Clara to take on snowman's San Francisco 49ers I have so many storylines going into this game one how will Aaron Rodgers look will he look like the Aaron Rodgers of the MVP form uh how mobile will he be will will it look like he's fully recovered because I haven't seen any preseason uh Jets uh play and I also did not see footage of him at at uh you know during training camps and practices and things so this will be my first time seeing them move around since everything happened last year um will the Jets specifically I'm looking at you Nathaniel hackit will you use Bree Hall effectively uh how will Garrett Wilson's uh chemistry with Aaron roders how will that be I am particularly interested in that because of fantasy uh matchups I drafted Garrett Wilson myself um but then on the San Francisco side how will the Jets defense go about stopping all those weapons will The iuk Saga from this past uh offseason have any effect on the 49ers Christian McCarthy or Christian mcaffrey will he do Christian mcaffrey things in the backfield will Brock py continue his Improvement into the Ascension of a superstar QB in this league I don't know about that that's a big wild card for me there's just so much how will the Niners defense be will they be as dominant as they've been in some past years there's a lot of questions surrounding this game I think it's a matchup of two good potentially great teams I'm looking forward to it what's your pick Ryan my pick is Houston and Indianapolis and I'll tell you why we've got three games and well I'll talk about it in desperation City even though there's really no games to really talk about for desperation City because it's week one but I'll mention it anyway we have three introd division matchups this week the most notable of them all because the other two are are dumpster fires the the one that's on my mind is Houston Indianapolis oh look look who I brought oh I found him there he is there's poppers all right I found him but um the most intriguing matchup to me is Houston and Indianapolis this is year two of CJ strout all right Anthony Richardson he returns from injury looking to see how he'll match he'll adjust and whether or not he'll have the same type of offense that was put in place last year that led to his injury unfortunate injury where he was out for the rest of the year so after I think it was what I think I went out in week five I want to say yeah I was going to guess four it's somewhere around there it was relatively early yeah and he broke his shoulder and why why say should say his shoulder broken um so I wonder how well he's going to do in this offense and this this is going to be I think this is going to be a this could be one of two games it could be either low-scoring defensive matchups because Deo Ryan is a defensive wizard a lot of good things last year with the defense in Houston or it could be very highs scoring and it's going to be very hard to stop both offenses and again CJ strad versus Anthony Richardson this is going to be a rivalry for years to come in the AFC South and these two teams could be vying for every single tit every division title from now over over the next half decade it's going to be fun it's gonna be fun to watch and I'm looking forward to this game I'll be I'll be watch for myself I'll be watching Red Zone Scott Hansen returns oh yeah can't wait fresh off his uh fresh off his gold Zone appearance in NBC during the Olympics he's he's refreshed he's rested he's refreshed he's ready to bring you seven to bring us football fans seven hours of commercial free football yes unfortunately I will have a family birthday party to go to at 4:30 so I'm going to have to catch glimpses of the 4:00 games including my own beloved Seahawks at the Broncos this week oh okay Welly old AFC West rivalry coming back they're in divis they're they're a different conferences now all right moving on to desperation City uh like we mentioned there's really no for me it's any inner division matchup because you want to get a leg up on the rest of your rest of the division so you got At The aff4 Mention Houston versus Indianapolis and you got the other two games which are again they're dumpster Fire Games Carolina at Houston and I believe it's I think the Chargers are visiting the Raiders and Jim Harbaugh's yeah coaching date NFL coaching comeback because he was a 49ers coach for all those years back now he's back in the NFL and he's pissed but he's back in the NFL he's coaching the LA Chargers be interesting to see with with all the weapons that Justin Herbert used to have yeah doesn't have anymore I'd be curious to see what this offense looks like yeah me too they're they're a big unknown and also I'm excited to see what Harbaugh can do with the Chargers defense because I predict he will make it significantly better that's true that's true all right so I I I thought about the name of this this particular part of the segment and I kept going back and forth I'm thinking to myself all right porcelain bus no not really self flagellation no not really so I'm going to call this part the self-hatred game of the week in which you have to really hate yourself to want to watch this game in particular either that or you're a fan of both teams and you just want to see what your team does Dustin I'll have you lead off on this one well Ryan usually for the show we will um you know we will usually try to have different picks for the sake of the show but there are some picks that are so obvious that you just can't avoid them and I think we both land on the same side I'm picking Panthers Saints for this one I really this NFC South not going to be a great division this year not at all um and there's just not much to look forward to I mean you could argue Carolina's got a new coach they got but they still have Bryce young and will he actually start to put it together did they start to put things around him I I mean I don't think so I think they're still in full-fledged rebuild I mean Adam thielen's going to catch an obscene amount of footballs in Carolina I think because that's just what he does even at his Advanced age they put him in the slot he'll catch footballs but I don't want to watch Bryce Wilson throw a short pass to Adam thielen all you know all day and then on the Saints on the Saints side of things nothing against Derek Carr um but you mentioned it in our preview their defense I don't think it's going to be good uh Alvin Kamar is Alvin Kamar but I think he's lost a step that's my that's my prediction there uh Chris olve is a dynamic young receiver to watch down in New Orleans but how often will they be able to get him the ball this game this game just doesn't have much for me same same I I I would there are some there were things that other things I'd rather do it's a typical NFC South match the NFC South is just a terrible division has been for the last few years and that trend's going to continue and it's going to be between the two Bottom Feeders in this likely Bottom Feeders in this division I in my preview in my preview I had Carolina finishing Third and New Orleans finishing in last I I think New Orleans is going to head for a rebuild and this is just the first first uh first first first bit of cement in the foundation of that rebuild uh in that they're just going to tear the building down and then slowly build it back up and I yeah I just got a feeling this is going to be a really long year in New Orleans it's gonna be the first one in a while you know don't forget you Drew Brees for all those years after Katrina had the comeback they won a Super Bowl they were good for a very long time with Shawn Payton uh but Dennis Allen I think this is I think he's gonna be the one the guys in the hot seat he's gonna be in the hot seat for most of this season and week one it's going to be this gonna be part of the nightmare very sorry Saints fans no there's been bad things that happened in New Orleans but um this is going to be a very rough year for the New Orleans Saints and it starts in week one I'm look going to see what what Bryce young can do and on the offensive side of the ball for the Carolina Panthers has he grown as a rookie did he grow as a rookie did are we going to see that progression uh in in year two did they improve enough on the offensive line to protect him to make sure that he's protected in the pocket and he's not running around so much you don't because you don't want to see a situation like the Chicago Bears had with Justin fields that they draft the player H they draft the quarterback high they trade up to get him and then have him just flame out in the first three years of his of of his career and get traded for basically scraps yeah all right moving on to players to watch on offense I'm gonna lead off on this one and I'm gonna say DeShawn Watson Deshawn Watson quarterback of the Cleveland Browns coming back to start after missing most of 2023 with a broken shoulder he's hoping to get the Browns off to a good start very high expectations for the Cleveland bronze based on what happened last year Deshawn Watson wasn't that quarterback last year no Joe Flo was so they got all these weapons on offense Nick chub I think Nick chub is going to be in the pup list for the first four he miss the first four games of the year yes but they still have a lot of really capable offensive receiver very capable offense to move the ball with Amari Cooper uh they br they brought in Jerry Judy from the from the Denver Broncos and they have a very solid offensive line oh I forgot Elijah MOA but you know well we'll see what happens with him uh and David Jun and David joku on defense they're they're that's a tough defense but talking about offense but we'll see what Deshawn Watson we'll see what he has to offer based on him coming back from injury I'm curious to see and it's going to play the Dallas Cowboys who have a very good pass rush that's all I can really say about them cowbo it's gonna be a long year in Dallas Dustin how about you all right for me players to watch on offense and I mean come on knowing me you had to know my pick at least for week one it's Russell Wilson I'll be looking I'll be looking at Russell Wilson very closely this week as he plays the Steeler or as he starts for the Steelers I believe they're playing the Falcons this week week uh if memory serves um and I'll have my eye on that game for a couple of reasons Russell Wilson will be first and foremost at the front of my mind because I want to see does Russell play like he did last year in Denver his first year was so bad in Denver that a lot of people forget that last year he was playing well well enough not not as good as Peak Russell Wilson in Seattle but even his last couple of years in Seattle where he had a couple injuries he wasn't at Peak Russell Wilson form people want to people want to shovel trash on him now but he was once one of the elite quarterbacks in this league and I want to see if there's any of that left now he is older Parton me is hoping he comes out and surprises people this year and mostly proves Shawn pyton wrong as Shawn pton elected to go with Jared stum last year uh through parts of the season and we all know the real reason for it but I'm not going to get into that on the show here it was contract related everybody but um I'll be very interested to see how Russ does and if Russ does come out and is very bad how quick does Mike Tomlin pull the trigger to go to Justin Fields it's just an intriguing situation there I found the bumper I have some breaking news for you Dustin oh all right thank you oh s according to this tweet that was just sent about 20 minutes ago per Diana russini of the athletic she says Russell Wilson based on the calf injury is not expected to suit up the oh he's not okay all right Atlanta wow okay so they have to go to they have to go to Justin Fields right now okay well then I'm glad that I picked an honorable mention because my other my other offensive player to watch was Justin fields for this game for this game I'm cheating I'm using an entire offensive team the Atlanta Falcons I want to see how Raheem Morris can use the weapons that Arthur Smith repeatedly for reasons befuddling to everyone involved D and everyone who watched football uh I mean I guess you got to give alers Touches at all cost how effective will Raheem Morris be at using bej Robinson at using uh uh Drake London at using um Kyle his say his name all all of them and of course how will Kirk Cousins do after getting that massive contract so I'll also be watching the Atlanta offense extremely closely this week well a good thing he had honorable mention so I know all right all right here we go players to watch on defense I have something special for you Dustin oh man he's important to the defense yes I got it I'm so happy I'm so happy we play I'll play it one more time just such a classic a classic line I can't have him locked up he's important to the defense I like dude I that review was a fun review we all shredded that Giants pass Rush pairing him with Dexter Lawrence will that have the intended uh consequences that uh Joe Shane and the Giants brass were hoping for it made me intrigued you know they they made a trade to get him it was the centerpiece of the show and you know it kind of I want to see if it pans out at all so I'll be looking for him in week one to see if he can get a sack coming out of the gate who is your pick Ryan my pick is the entire secondary of the Jacksonville Jaguars because they have a very tough assignment in week one and that they have to cover Tyreek Hill jyan waddle and Odell Beckham and on top of that their linebackers have to keep an eye on the running backs of the of the Miami Dolphins this this game is going to be in Miami I did not have Miami finishing in the playoffs this year so this is week one this is week one because you know last year we saw that the the Dolphins they can score points they can score points until they run into a much more physical defense they punch them they get punched in the mouth and they Wilt Jacksonville we we talked about them in our preview we don't know who they are we don't know who they are we don't know what their identity is their identity goes through uh goes through Lawrence uh through Trevor Lawrence Sunshine that's to the offense goes through I don't know who the defense goes through uh I to to bug my buddy Kyle Nash about that but I don't know who the I don't know who this Jaguar team is we'll find out in week one but they have a very tough assignment playing the Miami Dolphins and the inter Interstate rivalry of the Jaguars and the Dolphins so that's going to be let's see what they let's see if they hold them to 30 let's see if they hold them to to 30 or or under or anything under 40 think the Seahawks will surprise some people I think they will be better than people think I think that their defense their ref their revamp defense could be sneaky good this season I have I I realize I'm putting a lot of in Mike McDonald's uh scheme and and uh his coaching Acumen given what he did in Baltimore and at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh but um I just don't think offensively I mean Tyler Lockett I love Tyler Lockett he's one of the best route runners in the NFL and but and Gino he he regressed a little bit last year after his I would call it a breakout year the previous season um I just don't know if offensively they're going to be able to keep up with some of the elite offenses in the NFL I think they will surprise some people but also part of it part of it Kevin is who else is in their division I mean the ners those those games are going to be tough to win against the Niners and then you got um the the the Rams who historically have played the Seahawks very well uh McVey always has the Rams prepared to play the Seahawks and don't think the Rams are going to be as good because Stafford is older they lost Aaron Donald we went over this on the preview but Arizona is going to be that's the team I think that is going to surprise people they're going to play hard they're not going to be in Easy out like they have been in years past a full year of of Kyler Murray um and if and if Marvin Harrison Jr is as good as people say they're actually they they're going to have some weapons and don't forget about James Connor so it's more of my lack of faith overall in the Seahawks offense along with having the ners in the division the ners are ahead of where the Seahawks are right now and they're just going to be so tough to beat so that's the main reason why I just don't think the Seahawks can stand um offensively right now with some of the elite offenses in the NFL all right well there's your answer there's my answer I was looking for all right all right so we're going to get out of here going to enjoy some some of this uh lovely is weather outside I guess I don't know my chores are done for the day my chores are done for the weekend so I got all day to
