backyards in Shadow Hills. Labor day weekend is here with temperatures going up. You may be thinking about heading to the beach, but a recent sewage spill threatened to close one popular Southern California beach. Fox Eleven's Cristina Gonzalez live at Will Rogers State Beach, where a sewage spill has prompted a closure. And Cristina, you're learning that order was just lifted. You know, I love when I have updates with good news because this happened Thursday and the beach here has been closed since then. But in the last hour or so, they're telling us they were able to put a low flow diverter on this drain, that we're having an issue with. They took a reading and take a look. They have taken out the signs. People are beginning to come by, not a moment too soon because people are coming from all over and they hate it. To find the beach closed. We're from the east coast, but I'm from Savannah originally. Where are you coming from? Hickory, North Carolina, came from the East coast, from Atlanta to go surfing. But apparently this whole section is closed. Yep. Signs had been up on the north end of Will Rogers State Beach since Thursday. 6700 gallons of sewage spilled out of a storm drain. Health officials blaming tree roots on the line, which were cleared. Beachgoers had been warned to stay out of the water until water sample readings showed safe bacterial levels, and that happened today. So lifeguards were warning people to stay out of the water, are saying get back in, but not before it's safe. Trying to catch a few waves. Seems like there was a spill here. So I'm not trying to get sick. So we're trying to stay out of the contaminated water. You come from San Diego. You got the same stuff going on over there. It's happening. The same things over there. You saw the signs. Of course you're going to risk it. Stop me. No. I'm not going to go on the water. Are you kidding me? I'm. I can read signs. Not stopping some surfers. Others not taking any chances. This is not going to ruin anything. But I am mildly inconvenienced by having to move a few miles. This is ridiculous, to be honest. Because we are supposed to be very advanced where we know how to clean up our own #### and literally, yeah, it is, and it's too beautiful to ruin it. Some didn't let anything take away from a day off right here, even if they didn't get in the water, things happen. Anything mechanical is going to fail. You know what I mean? It's you're either going to be proactive or reactive. That's the way the world is. And that's the attitude to have. As of right now, the readings are coming in pretty well, pretty safe. So people are allowed. But this is what I'm going to tell you. Check on our website at Fox 8.com because they're doing readings here constantly, not only here, but they're doing the beaches all over Southern California. And these bacteria levels can go up and down. So there's a link at Fox 8.com before you get to the beach. Check it out. Make sure that
