we're about to witness something pretty spectacular Trump trying to convince himself he won the debate despite it being clear even to him that he didn't first of all after the debate he wandered into the spin room Yes you heard that right the former president of the United States walked into the spin room to basically spin on his own behalf it's the kind of move that's both hard to believe and a little embarrassing to watch take a look so Trump enters the spin room and you can almost sense the desperation in the air as he scrambles for attention like it's his life force at this point attention is his oxygen and let's be real even the people in that room spinning for him knew he had a rough night you could feel the awkward energy is he seriously standing there like his own surrogate trying to get people to talk to him about his performance yes yes he is wow exactly that's a whole new level of awkward everyone was a bit surprised too because when the Secret Service showed up people assumed it was for someone else maybe JD Vance nope it was Trump he' actually walked into the spin room to plead his case and of course the numbers game begins Trump starts rattling off random poll numbers 90% here 72% there 71% 89% you know classic Trump where did these numbers come from no one knows but we'll get to that I have to pause for a second to highlight the whole why wouldn't you look at her moment Trump was asked about why he didn't make eye contact during the debate especially with kamla Harris who was staring him down most of the night his excuse let's just say it wasn't his best now when Trump was asked by msnbc's Garrett hake why he even showed up in the spin room if he was so confident he won Trump's response was well confusing he said well I think did speak for itself but people said when I come here I made an obligation to a couple of people I'm going to do this show what is that even mean he's speaking in fragmented sentences as usual even when he tries to explain himself it's hard to follow then he posted on Truth social and of course Trump thought he nailed it he called it his best debate ever especially since according to him it was three against one he's referring to kamla Harris plus the moderators being against him and guess what that's exactly the narrative his supporters and surrogates especially over on Fox News picked up and ran with the three against one Trope became the knights spin strategy but let's get real the GOP had already prepped there Trump One graphics before the debate even took place they posted on Truth social that Trump was the reigning presidential debate Champion classic right they had that one ready to go no matter how the Knight actually turned out now let's shift gears and look at the polls Trump was sharing after the debate unsurprisingly he posted polls from Ultra rightwing networks like Newsmax The Daily Caller and Insider Outlets that cater to his loyal followers so of course the numbers were skewed heavily in his favor according to these polls Trump dominated the debate but only if you ask his base meanwhile over at CNN they conducted a poll of actual debate Watchers the result a whopping 63% handed the win to kamla Harris that's a pretty different story from the echo chamber Trump lives in but even some Republicans are admitting that Trump lost and lost badly take a look at this Trump started strong maybe for the first half hour but after that things went downhill fast he couldn't resist taking the bait whenever Harris prodded him even though his advisers had likely begged him not to in the first debate with Biden he managed to keep his cool somewhat but this time not so much and then there were the bizarre comments about migrants eating dogs and cats what was that about it was so out of left field like something you'd expect from a Saturday Night Live skit why would he even go there lindsy Graham of all people admitted Trump was unprepared and called the debate team a disaster Eric Ericson a conservative commentator posted a particularly blunt take on X formerly Twitter you stupid MERS just got trumped to repeat your lie about the pets it's like watching a car crash in slow motion but the moment that really sealed Trump's fate his rant about the 2020 election even his own supporters were admitting he lost any chance with persuadable voters when he rehashed the same old Grievances and conspiracy theories and speaking of conspiracy theories Trump's Camp didn't waste time blaming the moderators for well moderating Laura lomer a far-right conspiracy theorist and part of Trump's debate prep team claimed kamla Harris was fed the questions she even posted a picture implying that Harris was wearing an earpiece disguised as an earring at this point Trump's behavior is just sad it's like watching someone scramble to fix a broken narrative and the more he tries the worse it gets showing up in the spin room to defend his own debate performance is not the move of a confident winner it's the move of someone who knows they bombed and badly and don't even get me St started on the cat eating comment was that an attempt to win back the crazy cat lady vote it's mindboggling the fact that he thought it was a valid talking point just shows how out of touch he is with reality and where our politics have ended up what normal person even understood what he was talking about it's one thing to lose a debate it's another to lose and then desperately try to rewrite history in real time all while your opponents are already celebrating their win
