hello welcome back to the balance score YouTube channel I'm your host Ben and Nottingham Forest beat Southampton to get three points in their second Premier League game of the 2425 season so if you new content on this channel obviously like I've just said if you're new here how these videos usually go in the postmatch thoughts is I have aak break down of the goals points to bring up and then a conclusion of kind of where we're at how we're doing um even though we are very early on in the season so let's talk about first impression s we I I'm very very satisfied with how we played on Saturday I think we um were easily the better side I think we deserved to win and going into the game we knew Southampton would have a tough time back in the Premier League just like a lot of teams do getting repromed or promoted again back into the Premier League after being relegated only a couple of seasons ago because they lose their best players they have to try and rebuild and have to try and get back up again so I like T chances going into the Southampton game and even though it was an away fixture and our away records not the best I still lik our chances but let's go ahead and break down the goals shall we so starting off um in the first half there was a lot of chances from us so so many chances I'll just give you some of the stats surprisingly we only had 35% possession I thought we had more because I did actually have chance to watch the game last in my pre-match thoughts you haven't watched that check that out please uh if you didn't watch that I was actually busy um at a festival the weekend and uh I didn't have chance to or didn't think I was going to have chance to watch it but because there wasn't any axe on it early due to the wind going on around leads leads Festival uh some of the a were pushed back and moved around so didn't have chance to actually go ahead and um um go early to the festival so I managed to have chance to watch the game so I watched it I thought we had more possession shots on target we had eight they had one they had five shots we had 23 shots which just shows how many times we had a chances on goal we had lesser touches lesser passes uh we did make more tackles more clearances uh and the and we had more corners believe yeah 10 corners and we didn't Capital well didn't capitalize from any of them which is quite surprising one offside three yellow cards each side 14 fouls conceded on both sides so realistically apart from The Possession stat we are we were the better team um in the first off like I said we had loads and loads of chances we should have realistically been one nil one nil up at halim or before halim but then when half time ticked around uh and and the game went on a bit more as we made a substitution where we subbed on Ryan Yates for ibran sangari sangari don't me wrong was really really good I still think he's earning his place in the team and he's working well for us at the moment so um I'm no gripes in changing him out for anyone else but once we changed him out for um for Yates um in the 70th minute so four minutes on Gibbs white scored and this is when uh there was a cross um it came out I don't know if it was from a corner I might have to double check that but it got cross from the right hand side to niik Williams and Niko Williams had a shot it deflected off a off a Southampton or even I think a Southampton Defender and then that went out to a Southampton player which ni actually recovered the ball uh and then played it out to Hudson adoi which did like a a right footed curler um that floated it over the top of the defense and it fell perfectly for Gibbs white where he got a header on it and then Southampton had this really weird confus using type of miscommunication between the keeper and the defender and the the defender actually got in front of the keeper uh and and just and and kick the ball um straight back to Gibs white and Gibs white smashed it in the roof of the net to make it one nil so don't know what happened there but we benefited from it that's good to take it's good to not it's nice to see us taking our chances so I'm glad that we got a goal from that and it's glad to see Gibs white get a goal as well to get him on the the score sheet for the season for his for his goal tally obviously more substitutions went through the game game as we got towards the end of the game we started to platter off a bit and start to let them back in a bit more give them more chances um but evidently we did hang on and we did um we did get the the three points which is all which is the most important thing out of all of it but I feel like we could have got a couple more goals out of that game but is that the fortune of missing a striker I don't know but there're the goals um let's go over some points shall we so like I've said we were the better team all the way through uh um I think we should have got some more goals hopefully a striker in the transfer window before it ends we can look to sign somebody uh we've had a we've thrown out quite a few bids so we're quite desperate at the moment I feel um I think Eddie and Kea obviously that I've already talked about rumored wiissa apparently is is from brenford is is is rumored as well I don't know how I think that's been rejected as well as a recent uh and there's been some other Strikers from abroad but we haven't got our hands on anyone yet and it's nothing's really progressed further than it actually has um so we'll have to see hopefully we can get someone before the window ends but if we don't then we're going to have to go with wood in a one year again and just and just and and see what we can do with those don't me wrong wood still scores goals and so does AI but we do need a fit and ready Striker and it'd be good to have some more competition in that position to push wood to push AI um to become better uh and play better better for this for the team um another good point even though we didn't have much possession which I thought we did is we closed down the ball every time we lost it every time we lost it we did really well and we closed it down not just every time we closed it down what I should say is Rober every time at the right times we closed it down in areas which we saw an opportunity like in their box in their Corner in their half we pressed them and pressed them and pressed them they had a throw in we pressed them there and recovered the ball nicely and played it into attacking positions which is very very nice to see and even the middle of the park sangari I think and Anderson did very very well being danillo being injured Anderson did fill in for him and I think Anderson did really well and it was nice to have those almost two attacking number 10s in the middle of the in the middle of the pitch roaming around a bit while sangari kind of mopped up the back with the defense so that was really nice to see also a new the new signing minkovich was it was his first debut game um against Southampton away and he looked really good he looked really good at the back with Murillo supported him very well um and looks very calm and composed obviously he's he's a season Striker at Florentina so I had no gripes about him and uh he seemed to live up to the hype so far after the first game of being a really well-run Defender um he also had a couple of chances where he could have scored um maybe should have done better there but again I'm not good it's his first game so I'm not going to put too much pressure on him but there was a couple of chances which he should have probably put it away there was a ball that got smashed in um at an angle from wood I believe and minkovich got his F on the end of it but just bounced wide maybe he was just over stretching for it and or underst stretching for it and it just pinged off the wrong part of his foot but there you go but apart from that as a Defender he looked really really good and look really good at defending and supporting Millo obviously there was a bit of poor passing at the back um not just from the defense but from the keeper from CS there was a couple of laps of concentration luckily not up the top luckily not to Southampton players but just to like it was like a ball was passed and like making Nico stretch for it and it would go out or Nico would just get to it or ball that would just go out of Play From The Keeper so we do need to calm down a bit there at the back uh from passing out from the back because even though Southampton we beat them if you go against a man city a man united well not man united a man city a Liverpool an Arsenal no hate man united fans just just is what it is uh the the better teams currently they will do they will do they will get you they they will get you they will bite you in the AR for that and they'll get a goal from it so we just need to be careful around that that's something I have picked up on watching the game um again like I've already said about the lacking the final pass and or the striker uh to get on the end of them because we we we just need to um I don't think it's the final pass I think it's literally the striker we just we do need that Striker and that's something that we are yearning for so so much and hopefully that can be that can be answered for us within this transfer window but but we'll see I've already mentioned that anyway uh and the final point is Gibbs white looked very frustrated weirdly um all game you look very frustrated I don't know if that's just his competitive Spirit coming out and it i' like to say it probably is because gives white is a hell of a player he did some amazing bits of skill amazing through balls here collected the ball ran all the way around the pitch but once he did get the goal obviously he was very very happy and um I think it's down to competitiveness I don't think there's any frustration there from him with the side but there's a couple of things that maybe people need to work on maybe giz white needs to work on that side of it maybe he don't maybe he does I don't know alanga needs to learn to cross the ball in earlier get it to people like would I know he wants a goal I know he does but if he's in a harsher position and Wood's in a better one better decision making needs to be done there on that final pass to to to our to our Striker to our to our Striker that's there at the time yeah so as a conclusion um we've got three points which is our second game of the season but of course like I've already mentioned it feels like there was more like bad well there wasn't bad more bad points but it feels like there was more certain bits we need to improve on um like I said we could have bit won by more but at the end of the day it's great to see have three points at our second game and to bring up the Premier League table it's going to be in front of my face uh so apologies but as you can see there we are seventh in the Premier League after our second game we are above teams like Chelsea West Ham Fulham Man United and only below people like Newcastle Tottenham Liverpool Arsenal mana and Brighton that is crazy that is absolutely crazy uh to see us in that place in seventh place in the Premier League in our second game like I said it's early days but we shall see our next game is wolver Hampton wonders in the Premier League um at home but our next next game which is not a Premier League game is tomorrow night against Newcastle in the carabal cup or the league cup so we will hopefully get a win from that I will not have a pre-match thoughts from that game as I don't usually have for Cup games but I will have a postmatch thoughts video for that carabal cup game against Newcastle tomorrow night it is on sky so everyone can watch it or if you don't have Sky then I guess you can't but I'll be watching that and hopefully we can get a good result from that tomorrow so thanks for watching and come
