The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton

hi this is my aunt Effie and today I'm going to talk to you about a wonderful book oh it's called the light pirate and it's by Lily Brooks Dalton and oh my gosh this is a library book card no a library book club book and it was um published in 1920 in 2022 oh my gosh it was just so wonderful I'm living in Florida right now and the book is actually set in Florida it's about a young family um this girl is born during a hurricane and it's just a terrible terrible hurricane two little boys get lost dad goes out looking for them the woman goes into labor little girl is born with water coming in the house and sloshing through the mother dies uh one of the little boys dies and then there's a father a son and this newborn baby girl so the story is about their life and the changes that happen in Florida as the environment changes and the Oceans Rise and it's so well done so beautifully written so the book also gets into evolution as times change most of the people in Florida leave they go Inland but then there are too many people Inland as people move away from the oceans uh but even though there's a lot of um life going on and changes and drama in the cities the story stays in the same place in Florida so you get to see exactly what happens there for the people who stay so it brings in evolution not just of animals but even the evolution of people as the Oceans Rise it gets hotter and hotter and hotter eventually it's too hot for humans to go out during the day and they are only out at night so it talks about how we change and where we live we go through the process of all of the governmental entities shutting down Services shutting down and how the people who stay adapt so I got to tell you that this is my absolute favorite book since the season started for the library book club this season um I just think that most people would really enjoy it and I think that's all I want to say about that I don't want to give it too much away so this is my aunt Effie and I'll see you next time bye
