This Election is a Nightmare

welcome back to Citizen McCain with me Megan McCain and Miranda Wilkins in studio on RNC is next week we have our own RNC memories because we are working on our radio show America now when Trump was nominated and I have a few strong Memories the first one is you were very pregnant with your first daughter yeah and that you're poor you know you you had to walk around in that heat um and radio row which is not it's a it was a parking lot converted into a a radio row literally people people hate radio people that's I learned is like radio people are like the bridge trolls of the media world it was horrible I remember a doing our three-hour show every day live from there which was fun and you having to like you know obviously produce and set up and whatever but I remember and I don't know if you remember this Milo yannopoulos which do some Googling got in like a physical fight with someone and people were like screaming but it wasn't it was like behind us it wasn't it wasn't directly in front of me but I remember there was like a fight it was like really intense wait was it with chank younger too so it okay so here's what happened it was that Triumph the insult dog the puppet dog with the cigar in its mouth was going around and was like just talking like [ __ ] to everybody and he got to Milo's table as Milo was like doing a podcast or a show or he was a guest on someone's show I'm not exactly sure of the specifics because we're sitting there and we're just talking like to Montel or who or Heraldo we were talking to somebody and all of a sudden we just see swarms of cops just cops from everywhere like they were dropping out of the ceiling it was insane like there were all of a sudden it was like normal and then a million cops everywhere because the the dog said something Rude the puppet and someone lunged and jumped a table and like took down whoever the comedian that does the dog and I can't remember this person's name now but I remember hearing that he got into an altercation with Milo shinker from The Young Turks and Alex Jones all in the same day like he pissed off all those same people and it like was like he must have had these cops as like a personal security detail like because it was just so much tension and like heat and aggression in the same day like and like literal heat cuz I think it was like 100° cuz we were in a converted parking garage like think of like a mall parking structure and they just outside and all the TV people got to do their shows in like they made them like glass booths with air conditioning and I remember you having to like haul ass from doing the five and you're like outnumber running or EXC me outnumbered and you're like running in your like suit and dress and your heels and your Fox News hair and you had to like run from one end to the other to do our my hotel was 2 and a half hours away so I got to drive 2 and hours in the morning to the convention center to do outnumbered and whatever else they wanted God what was his name we got in a fight backstage oh my God what is his name oh God that old guy that he hosted I don't remember his name but I got in a literal verbal fight do you remember that because uh he he was like I was anti-trump even then and he was super prot Trump and I can't remember his name he doesn't work at Fox anymore because he's so crazy I'll remember it later we'll put a little disclaimer in and then having to go over to radio row and we had to take that bus and they were always really weird people on the bus and going over and it was just hot and having to do three hours and everyone was losing their mind cuz Trump was getting nominated and like every day it felt like it was just like youal seven circles of hell like it was just every day it was like another descent it was just weirder and weirder cuz it was like we get there we're like okay this is going to be weird like I remember our bosses made us bring gas masks yes because they thought it was going to be just like Insane Clown like insane riots and like gassings protests and they built this like giant wall in the city of Cleveland and like if you were in the convention if you were there for the um convention like you couldn't go in or out of the wall like it was its own City within a city um but we get there and we had all these like really cool things like we got to see Caitlyn Jenner speak at some like Republican women's thing with maret Hoover was like the person who did it that was like one of the first days and like Trisha and I went to go who's our old fabulous assistant producer we got to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and like walk around and look at it just cuz that's there and it was something to do during the day while you were doing Fox stuff and um there was all kinds of really fun great things about it but it was like at night was when the speeches were and so we went to go watch Paul Ryan speak which he's never going to do that again we'll never see that again and then I got to see like Tiffany Trump speak right after him which was just bizarre and then don don Jr spoke and it was just like really like watching an 80s movie school bad guy doing like a I'm running for president fruit punch in the water fountains speak it was insane and then on the last night no you're missing one thing what in the middle of all of this she's missing all of this the Roger E sex scandal broke that he was sexually Assa did happen while we were there everyone and so every young woman Fox News contributor was being hounded by reporters including yours truly to ask if you'd been sexually assaulted by Roger alses which added an extra level of thatat [ __ ] insane to my experience I was not sexually harassed but good friends of ours were and were confiding in us about it happening in the midst of all of this and it's not funny at all obviously but it was just it was like a felini movie it was crazy that convention took yours off my life I mean it was like a lot and I just remember mind I'm like eight months pregnant also and I remember being like to Miranda being like ah there reports that my uh boss has been uh raping contributors in his office andna and you were like just sit down you're and she was like don't talk anymore we're gonna talk offline we're gonna talk in the car there's to you me there's too many people talking about this microphones everywhere literally everywhere and uh I had cuz i' setting wild I'd be setting up and there we knew a lot of people because of just radio is just a tiny world and I had people just coming by probably like every 40 seconds uh Megan want to come on does Megan want to come Megan come on does Megan want to come on I was just like so hard it was also the first time I heard about a very famous man cheating on his wife because he was spotted at the hotel of the not our hotel he was at the nice hotel cuz he's a very famous man that he was caught with the woman that it later came out publicly I don't want to say who though because it's you whatever you'll tell me offline I'll tell you offline but he was making out with her in front of people and got caught and I remember that was also the gossip where I was like he's cheating on his was the lady also like famous known person or was she like no she was just a lady oh okay yeah so I remember that and and I just remember Heraldo was extremely nice to us as he always he was like a bodyguard for us he helped us he'd like load our bags like cuz my we'd have to bring like like brought us water I remember he was like very concerned yes he bring cuz it was like not joking 90 de humid we'd have to like lug our printers and our computers and like literally everything we had in the entire world we had to bring back and forth every single time and then we booked monel Williams in person who we love and he came on literally physically in person but he had just gotten in a fight with Bill O'Reilly and he was raging about it and he and he was like and I'm going to say this to bill right now you can't mess with me and blah blah blah this is not to she was like freaking out and again it just added to the energy of weirdness and I also remember the other cuz we were already like not accepted in radio circles because they're like younger and women and like it was just like a whole thing and I just remember like people coming by and like sort of hazing that we that we had gotten the show because America now was not supposed to go to me like I was like a very freak choice at the time I think they felt like they needed a woman and like I the other show I was every show I work on gets canceled had been cancelled and I was available and like whatever but I remember that there were pissed off radio guys in Hawaiian shirts coming by being nasty to you and Trisha about it and talking about how many women were on the show at the time so I remember that too they're like where's your boss where's your executive producer yes and I just remember again like in radio Row I Remember just that there was physical fighting that happened like I said with shank anger and it was just loud and screaming and something happened with an cter that was like I think she got in a fight with someone like and me just wanting to like just do our work talk to the radio but that it was so loud and chaotic now looking back on it the reason it's so chaotic because it was a paradigm shift the world was changing rapidly and moving into the next phase and we were covering it and um I mean now looking back on it it's just like wild like all the weird stuff we used to do but I also remember you being on the convention floor with Cory lowski when he helped nominate Trump and that he was hysterical and crying and that Trisha was very weirded out by it she was like he was shaking our other producers was shaking he was like that's Trump is being nominated and he's still a Froot Loop from hell and not just Cory leowski like sobbing as he shouted out Trump's name but there were all of these like maab Bros with their hats and they're like blade and their khaki shorts cuz it was hot and what I noticed and this was like the very beginning of like this onslaught of the cult of personality and and and that's when I was like so shocked at this is they were all crying yeah they were all crying like all of these like early 20s like frat dudes who like you think would be like doing cak dance and they're just looking at Trump with like their eyes were just brimming with tears and they just like smiling ear to ear like it was Christmas morning and they were 5 years old like I just couldn't believe what I was seeing and I was like talking to you on the phone I was like I don't want to be here anymore like it was too much it was like very overwhelming you could feel like the kinetic energy in the room um it was very intense and the other thing I remember after the convention when he was nominated and you guys were on the floor with like balloons and confetti and whatever is telling taking the bus back to the hotel which is a million hours obviously and that saying was I was like Trump is going to win and we said it or I said it on the radio and you you started saying it too and then I said it on TV and that's actually how I ended up getting asked to be the host of The View because The View host at the time that they had that was the Republican said no way Hillary will win forever and they wanted to hire someone who thought who knew Trump was going to win that's literally how I got the job appar the so I'm told by my agent whatever so and I thought that because at the there were so many people who were not reacting reacting the way you react to a religious figure not a politician the emotions the intensity the the drama it wasn't like a normal convention which they're not boring but they're just much more buttoned up normally and it felt I assume the way Scientology meetings feel like just over the toop and emotional and like people were grasping on to a cult of personality and not not a not just a politician leading into the future and it was a complete J deposition from my dad's convention which was just you know very proper yeah normal it was very very intense in a way that I can't even describe because I've never felt that way about anything in my entire life I can't even quantify it because I don't I don't I don't I don't even know yeah it was the beginning of this it was like and now it's been which is so crazy it's like it 2015 it's 2024 so we're pushing a decade of this but I remember the convention with you and Trisha being like this is the beginning of something else and that still how it is the 2015 is when a lot you know some people think that's when the world actually ended and we're in purgatory I'm not saying that's true or not true but it is when politics completely it's never been the same sense it's never going to be the same and I think it's certainly for the worst but I'm old school um and I'm so happy honestly I'm just so happy you were there with me not I want you to go through horrible things but sharing that experience is obviously like you are a witness to what happened yeah you know and I can honestly say like it was definitely bonding in a very very weird way but we have this very insane and intense shared experience that's for sure yeah and and then I just remember at the end when we went home like not actually being able to get out of bed for a few days like just ordering food into my apartment and like like it was so draining on so we didn't sleep at all we didn't eat at all we just like it was like going in shifts and I just remember like throwing my dresses like just get dressed in a bag like changing shoes oh God you said also Google my old Fox here it's really good it's like it's really good bleach blonde sprayed with an inch of its life I look like a like a very cheesy uh weather girl from Tampa it's not great like a helmet it doesn't look great bounce a penny off and that was still the time when you had to wear dresses you couldn't wear pants on Fox we're not going to the convention this year because we're not doing radio and uh we don't want to go I don't I'm okay I I don't think it's actually like that safe for me or you they are just given how antitrump I am uh and it's not um it's not it's not a celebration like it once was no um and I think the DNC one is going to be just as weird it's not like I think any of these things are going to be good but um you know it's meant to be celebrating a candidate and I don't want to celebrate either one either one I'm not celebrating Trump obviously I I don't need to go watch the sideshow again I already saw it I don't really care to see it again yeah well we do have uh Mary kathern ham one of our favorites coming up um our friend a Fox News contributor she was there at the convention too and she's going to this one um and she's just you know such a measured interesting analyst so yeah so she'll tell us what she thinks she's gonna see because oh boy she's going to be in the thick of camera and on camera and I'm GNA be honest with you MK I'm not doing so great uh says the debate it's been it's been a week and a half your Twitter is on fire X whatever um I've been really entertained by by your tweets I just want to know first and foremost like when I watched the debate I I said this on the last show I was I didn't do go to a debate viewing party cuz I we were going on a trip and then at the last minute I was like I don't know if I want to do this with a group of people because what if it's awful what if it's awful and I was doing laundry and folding it and there was a period when I dropped my laundry on the ground because I was so shocked like dramatically like I was folding and I just dropped like a little onesie on the ground I found it very hard to watch and very disturbing um can you just tell me first andmost your reaction to the debate and then how you've been feeling in the eight or nine days set yeah okay so right out the gate at the debate it was very clear that we were not going to see even the version of Joe Biden that was at the State of the Union which I thought was like you know a little too much for me like maybe maybe not a perfect performance but it was enough for media to say look this guy's got it together right and as soon as he started talking it was clear that that's not what we were going to get and I was actually watching in a news van because I needed to be on standby for Fox while the debate was happening just in case the feed dropped or whatever so I'm watching in a news van with the camera operator and we both are just oh my this is awkward uh that was the feeling throughout and then in the days since then I it's been a roller coaster because I'm genuinely concerned about the country uh because I don't know I don't think that the guy that we saw is doing the job of president in the way that the President should be doing the job and not just because I disagree with him ideologically I mean just physic Al and cognitively being there for the job right I have said I think the honorable and constitutionally provided for thing is that he would step aside and kamalo would become the president and she'd probably get a little boost out of being the first female president uh and then they do their best running with her I think that's the moral decision uh and still keeps sort of democratic voters in the picture because they did vote for her in the primaries along with him right instead of pulling some weird switch but I don't think that's going to happen because Biden himself must be the person who decides this I think I don't think it goes any other way and then there's also been like some shot and frud just from watching Democratic press staffers have to face a hostile press for the first time in their lives maybe yeah that part's been yeah sort of fun to watch well there's I mean there's a lot of things to unpack with this the first one I mean let's just focus on the Press first there seems other than like Mark Alex Thompson from axios I can't really think of very many mainstream press people that would have touched this third rail of Biden's health and there seems to be like we have mat glacius coming out saying like I up I got this wrong I'm sorry and to his credit like I a lot of people need to say sorry um what do you think now with the because I have actually been surprised there are people that are still staying on this like Edo Keefe yesterday in the in the Press Room with Ken jeanpierre like there's still people that are the Press seems to be embarrassed there a generalization and angry that they have been misled by many people in the White House do you think there will be answers because even this New York Times report that a Parkinson's doctor this like I guess leading Parkinson's doctor has visited the president eight times this year I mean the year is not over that's you know once a month I am look aam's Razer here yes what is the simplest answer to this question why would a Parkinson specialist be at the White House eight times talking to our president's doctor I'm offended crane John Pierre is acting like I'm stupid and you're stupid and we shouldn't question that do you think that there's two questions here number one do you think the Press will continue to be dogged about this and number two do you think they can continue still lying in the way that they have been so I think that the Press will be dogged about it until it's very clear that Biden can't be replaced isn't that now in the next week probably right as we go into the Republican National Convention because then then Republicans have the stage for a week and you sort of can't avoid that and then after that the Olympics happen and then after that you're like into August and by mid August is the filing deadline so if you want to pull some big production uh and some Switcheroo it's going to be very hard to do on this timeline I think the media is invested in a democratic win over Trump so if it turns out that he's the guy you're going to see some really magnificent pivots back to like well I said what needed to be said but I'm not going to tear this man down while he's running to be president of this great country I think you're going to see a lot of that on one side we have Michael Moore saying this is the worst case of elder abuse I've ever seen we have the Pod save America Bros who I've never really been fans of losing their mind on air and off air and on social media saying Biden has to be removed you have David Axelrod saying there's no way he can win this is statistical anomaly but then on the flip side we have Joy Reed saying I would MSNBC host Joy Reed saying I would vote for Biden if he was in a coma and we have my old co-host saying he could [ __ ] his pants on live television and I would still vote for him I find think about if that's your and I'm sorry to say that cuz it's like disgusting but it's what she said I didn't say it yeah I'm just saying if that's if incontinence is your pitch like I'm you're in a bad place like it's so much worse than if you're explaining you're losing and I think this is the big problem for the Biden campaign off the press for a second the Biden campaign is that the whole plan was to make Trump the conversation yeah and the whole conversation you don't like Trump remember how you don't like Trump even if your life sort of maybe felt a little bit better during those four years don't worry about that you still hate him and this is why you hate him and he's going to make a bunch of truths and uh say a bunch of stuff that we can make fun of and and say is very scary he's not obliging them because he's not saying that much uh Trump and yeah he's being disciplined it's wild it's weird and now Biden is the conversation and even if you switch out the new person is the conversation Trump is not the conversation from here at least for another month can I ask you though how do you think the American public at large if your argument is coma in continence is fine does that do you think that something is actually going to fly with the American public or is that just like a liberal hellscape in in the media so there's a couple things here I think the Panic you saw after the debate is oh no this cover up is not going to work I think there was some denial mixed in there I think there was limited access to the president but all of them were smart enough to say why do we have limited access to the president why is he in Delaware for four days per week why doesn't he have a regular schedule so uh they were a little bit in denial but also kind of knew and the important thing is regular voters were way ahead of them on this yeah 70% it was 68% in the last uh New York Times CNA poll think that he's too old to do another four years and that goes across all independent Republican Democrats I believe it includes a majority of his 2020 voters okay so Elites are just catching up to what voters already knew now on one hand that might be that that might mean that voters have baked that into their decision and you can't move that many of them off Biden because they're just there because they're in the whoopy position they're like I I guess that's fine with me I've already decided that's fine with me because the alternative is so bad however I do think seeing it live yeah in the debate might have Shake shaken some independent voters and the thing about this election is it doesn't take that many voters to Shake in Battleground state states to make it really really hard for Joe Biden who already had sort of an uphill battle do you think whoopy and Joy Reed have forgotten that it's 40,000 votes in swing States is what made Biden president and not Trump which is nothing it's statistically nothing yes I mean like respectfully I think we could get 40,000 people to like sign something that you and I should run for president like it's really not that many in the scheme of things why do you think and right now with the polling the way it is and I don't want to hear one more thing from anybody saying polls don't matter polls matter a lot I don't met one campaign offer it operative who isn't running their campaign daily on what polls are saying I'm so sick of hearing polls don't matter he's bleeding everywhere and we're not talking about Flesh Wounds we're talking about like real deep internal bleeding that you cannot fix and we're talking about places like Wisconsin Virginia my home state of Arizona which was going to be sort of swing state I was just in Arizona Trump stuff everywhere everywhere and I drew from excuse me I drove from Phoenix to Sedona which is about a three-hour drive and everywhere Trump stuff I didn't see one Biden thing so why do you think that they're denying reality in front of us well this is partly I think when you spend too long assuming that the alternative is so bad that no one would turn to him right which is what they've done as a party they've said oh my gosh like this this is a this is monstrous who would ever vote for him what African-American voter would ever vote for him what Hispanic American voter would ever vote for him what middle class American voter would ever vote for him but that's not how those voters are thinking they're thinking I have two bad choices yeah that's what most of them are thinking um so I think they're they're ignoring it partly because of that the problem for them partly is that in in making Biden make this decision right because he would I still think he has to be the one to decide because the universe of movable voters from Trump to Biden is rather small but really important but rather small I don't think polls will change catastrophically enough to make the Biden family go oh gosh there's no way we can hang on because a two point to Trump isn't that big it's decisive but it's not that big so Biden can tell himself as he's been telling himself all along that's not real and it's clear he's telling himself that those polls aren't real but when you have Gretchen Whitmer calling and saying we've lost Michigan post debate I would I would give a [ __ ] like if I were in the Biden family but I'm not thank God but I do want to ask you about Jill uh I feel like this is like we have to talk about Jill honestly so the door has opened we have used to be more about it but I think we can all agree that we talk about she's doing this to herself and I no longer feel weird again I as I I actually did an episode where I talked about how much I love first ladies and I really had no problem with her up until recently so the first thing the Biden family decided to do after the debate was pose for a photo shoot for Vanity Fair with Annie Leva witz which I know there's nothing the American public appreciates more than a photo shoot with an middle class photos the inflation worry people and she's on the in the aftermath of it they released her Vogue digital cover where she looks basically like she's in a nurse's outfit and in the article she's talking about how much she loves power this is psychotic I don't understand any of it and all the reporting coming out of axio New York Times Wall Street Journal Politico is saying that she and Hunter are the driving forces behind not stepping down do you have any reaction to this I find it upsetting so I think that Vogue cover was maybe the worst timed cover in the history of political magazine covers uh because in the very moment that she needs to be convincing people that she's not not steering this ship right that she's not the one who makes all the calls to keep Joe Biden in this race um even though frankly physically you can see it when she's sort of leading him around and guiding him everywhere she goes he did he did an event even before the debate I think it was a couple days before the debate um introducing a policy of some can I now I can't remember what it was but she did the intro and it was very much sort of a policy based intro it wasn't it didn't feel like a first lady saying here's the president um so I think people have legitimate questions about how much power she has how she's wielding it and that photo shoot just made it look like well this is why she's here yeah because she loves being on Fashion Magazine and she wants her due in the way that every other Democratic first couple gets their due on the covers of these glamorous magazines she they want to be in that Echelon and uh there should be a lot more questions asked about exactly how she's handling it this and there are sort of whispers about like well you can tell people know the game because they're like well who who do we know who could get in touch with Jill right they're all the donors are all saying that to each other but I'm not sure that any of the Biden family is really close to a lot of other folks because it's all just imagining how could we get in touch with Hunter and Jill and I think Hunter and Jill are in touch with Joe and it's just like this very minimal in inner circle is what it seems like it's like very inside the walls of the best deel before it was stormed like that is the energy they're giving um I'm going to tell you some gossip I've heard I don't know if you've heard the same I'm excited okay the gossip I've heard is that big donors are really pissed and that they're going to kill still give tiny bits of money but not big money and that that actually could make a difference for the Biden campaign I also heard that even if people are going on TV members of Congress Senators saying it's all fine there's nothing to see here that behind the scenes they're still panicked that they still they're not stupid they see they see what's going to happen and then I also heard that Hunter and Jill and this isn't a direct quote but it's like I'm par phasing that they would literally rather let the White House be burned to the ground than leave that there's just no scenario on the planet White House being burn to the ground they'd watch America burn before stepping down well Hunter Biden in a very real way is arguing for his own skin right he's the if his father is President he can pardon him now I don't know how high his punishment is going to be on any of these charges so that aside but ask yourself if this Inner Circle if it's indeed led by Hunter Biden is one that has the judgment and uh self-reflection necessary to say oh this is what's good for the country and we may we might not be it it's a shame though because I think if he had after the debate if he had immediately said like I got to rethink this and maybe I do need to step aside the Press would have given him the sendoff of snoff it would have been like you passed all of this inflationary nonsense and we love it so much you're going down in history as a selfless Statesman I think he's missed his exit and as a lot of old people on the highway sorry old people you can't turn back you can't turn into that exit after you've missed it you got to go down to the next one and I don't know where the next one is for him you're about to go to the RNC what do you think the DNC is going to be like because some of those events are at night yeah and you have to have energy to do those kind of events because it's all about enthusiasm raising and balloons and big speeches and it's loud I've been to every single one except the last one like it's a it's a Hollywood production I don't see how he can physically do it truly yeah I think the requirement for both convention which surely both parties will fail is like keep it normal man just like look normal for a couple of days and we can hope I think the Republicans might have a better shot at it particularly seeing how Trump has behaved in the past week and a half and then we got but then we got Amber Rose I think is speaking talk about this so people who don't know who Amber Rose is she's a fashion model who dated Kanye West uh is that a good yeah model and uh she's speaking to at the convention which you know no I don't know her but it seems like an odd Choice look this is this thing that Republicans do which is like we have no celebrities where's the celebrity oh she she sort of likes us put her on stage right let's hope it's a daytime slot not a prime time slot the Scott beo time slot at 11 o'clock on a Thursday whatever the Democrats are also called to be normal though and their environment is not going to allow it because all those protesters are going to be out there it's going to be a very challenging security situation uh it's going to be a lot of pressure from BAS folks uh to do things differently yes about Israel and Palestine um and it's going to be nasty and and by the way Chicago is not under the kind of governance that is going to keep this calm yeah right no I think it's gonna be a [ __ ] show I think it's be like that's before you even get to the president performance anything else on Biden I have been fascinated by watching James Carville and like I said the Obama Bros like John vavro Etc coming out and being vifer that he has to step down and then AO see in which is the edgiest most socialist thing she can do saying Biden's the best he's incredible I had conversations with him is interesting I'm going to say something about her she's clearly making a political calculation that it is better to not have the Wrath of the Biden Administration on her and that Bernie is going to be out in a few years the thing she doesn't understand is those of us who are 40 and pushing 40 like me there are sparklier more interesting people that always come up behind you and you have to have something more interesting to say and be honest she's blown up her career blown it up and she's already like a loser since doing that like dress at the the Met Gala before like she's already like yes like it's already whatever but do you think she committed an she committed an even bigger sin for a person who's trying to look cool which is she went on stage to cardi B while wearing khaki shorts which I just thought was the wrong call had a real mom Vibe and I love a mom but it was just a different um no I it's weird to say that I think uh time is on Biden's side because time is not on Biden's side in the grand picture in the grand scheme of things but in these couple of weeks time is on his side because the more you slow walk each appearance and you say everything's going to be fine the next time I go out and give a press conference next week I'm you're going to see me I'm G to be great next week it's going to be fine and if I said it a week and a half ago if Democrats do not have unanimity of plan and purpose quickly there can't be a change and they are still the Parkinson's doctor like how do they I just don't is this just going to need to be combative like and what's wrong with her she's the worst press secretary it's like a press secretary from a movie there's a superpower to being really bad at your job and just pretending that you don't know that part of it right like you can just go up there and do the thing and she does this thing like you're referring to where she gets high dudgeon and she's like a little respect edef like edef is just asking you a straightforward question that you are refusing to answer and the Art of that job is that you are supposed to refuse to answer in a way that looks like you're answering she is incapable of doing that even in a friendly press Corp yeah now that it's turned tough she's really flailing is something wrong with her like liter like it she is so unqualified for that job you know I used to be on CNN with her and I I don't remember her being quite so easily crushable as in these moments that I've seen in The Press Room obviously it's a different environment but she's just unskilled at that job it's just very obvious she's not good at it did you see this was like two press conferences ago when Kelly O'Donnell was saying like we would love to have Biden come out here and speak with us it be good and then someone in the background said if he's if he's not asleep and then K Donald goes that's inappropriate and Karine John Pierre was like that's inappropriate and I was like they're really pissed the Press court is pissed here's the thing by by the way I don't think it's that inappropriate y'all have been lying to us the Press yeah for a long time they should be mad at you yeah it's not inappropriate to make a cck at your experience at your expense when you've been lying to us systematically for a long period of time about a very serious thing yeah by the another weird thing that they they did this week is that Trump does this sometimes where you he takes the the premise of the of the reporter's question too easily um and it ends up working against him in this case somebody in the Press Corps called the press conference that he's going to give this week a big boy press conference and both what Karine jeanpierre and John Kirby who's better than that yeah you used the term again repeating this very damning uh categorization like this like the president's going to give a big boy press conference I guess that means it'll just be longer than 20 minutes and be live uh but that it's just so diminishing of your candidate and your president when you don't want to be doing that but I just think they're not great at this so the main question I think most Americans have is just like where do we go from here because this feels like at least for me it feels very uh uh I I've had a hard time even processing all of this because obviously I believe Trump is so bad but I also think this is absolutely unacceptable and dangerous especially when it comes to like what our enemies are seeing in America and I do feel lied to in a way that I think has like been watching for me it's almost like watching the unraveling of a great con like it reminds me of like when I first found out about Theos because I have this very interesting personal Theos story which is the whole thing where it's like this is not real and you've been lied to from Baseline going forward and I think it's actually my lot of Elites believed that one too yes but exactly Elites are mentally stupid I don't know whatever but what is weird to me is that I feel like this this cannot get better his health will not get better I've had an aging parent that had cognitive decline it does not get better and they cannot continue to hide this no matter how much they want to there will be another moment he's going to have so many more moments there's going to be more moments so we can expect I will promise everyone listening and watching there will be more moments I guarantee it bet my career on it and again maybe he'll vomit on himself at the DNC and whoopy Goldberg will say no problem I ain't got no problems with it's to shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue right that's their moment except there's his poopy pants I don't know uh I my take on it because I'm in the same position is you I do I'm not a trump fan I've never voted for him I at this point I feel like Trump doesn't necessarily deserve to win but I feel that the Biden Camp deserves to lose because of the lies because yes and the Press by the way is part of this where I just think on giant abuses of power they've lied so many times they lied about Russia gate and used the Intel Comm to do it they lied about the H Biden laptop and used the Intel community and the press all together to do it again um and now they're lying about this huge thing and that's I'm not even doing the covid lies but now they're lying about this huge thing it's very obvious voters knew it long before they admitted it and I just think that erosion of public trust does play a part at some point even if people think the alternative in Trump is not great they're still willing to consider it yeah what happens if Trump picks somebody normal as his VP if he picks like a yunan Marco Rubio like somebody who is very palatable to voters like us well look we're in a different conversation than we were about a year and a half ago which was uh will it be Christy gome or Carrie Lake remember that moment theying wish those women making conservative women look bad both of them right I would just one second I was just in Arizona and she Carrie lake has a a camper it's not a tour bus it's a camper and it says like Carrie Lake and her name's like small and then it's an endo by Trump in like giant letters I was like was it going to be so crazy about Arizona not this just about Arizona but I think Trump's going to win she's going to lose that that's entirely possible what is happening what is going that's that's the other thing by the way the Biden campaign ask yourself if they H are competent enough if what you've seen is competent enough to deal with the fact that several more states are going to become Battleground States Arizona as you point out Virginia might end up being close which it hasn't been in years 20 something I mean a long time I don't have confidence that they have the smarts and boots on the ground and ability to shift quickly that would be able to deal with more Battleground literally just thought of like the Democrats poop your pants it's fine it's fine it's like so awful and I don't mean to laugh because again I think it's actually disrespectful to old people but like it's like we are in an upside down this is the wild west of political commentary I almost don't even know how to cover it no and it all happened on July 4th week and we're all trying to have a burger and we can't have a burger in this environment know I know I was on my phone getting called in all these zooms having zooms with you guys and I was like I don't know I just seems really bad but I was convinced he was going to step down because I was like this is untenable I didn't know that the Biden family thinks that they are deities from our Holy Father sent down to save us and also this sounds I don't care how this sounds I didn't realize to me it's like Trump and Biden are the same they're calling into TV shows lying my their corrupt families running everything like there's very little line between the two of them and what the hell happened I joke all the time that like it's amazing how analogously crappy they are like it's just like oh yeah documents I'm G to store them at my house I don't really care about the classified uh stuff we're just going to move right on and then as you as you note is Biden doing an impression of trump because he is calling into his favorite Morning Show talking about his crowd sides sizes uh saying that the poles don't say what they say I mean it's talking about my other favorite thing is he like the elites are after me sir you have been a senator since you were 29 you're a former vice president and now you're president what is more Elite than being president of the United States of America what is more Elite than that what and again this is what I'm talking about where I'm like I am being gaslit I'm being lied to I'm trying to be spun but you and I and I think again I give Credence to the American public act think they're highly intelligent group of people as a generalization and I think the idea that like our president's going to go on TV be like I'm a victim and the elites are after me is the biggest bunch of [ __ ] I do have to ask you what you thought of him calling into Morning Joe and I've been actually shocked to see morning Joe's absolute vifer defense of everything just because know right my problem is I'm seeing something with my eyes and my ears and you're telling me don't believe you're lying eyes yes and I think enough of that really ticks people off ticks off voters were there before the Press was willing to admit it they had this figured out a year and a half ago you think it gets worse uh the polling or yeah uh yes I think it gets a little bit worse um I do think Biden's point about 2022 is actually not terrible when he says to the Press you guys got 2022 wrong there was supposed to be this Red Wave the important part about that is that the Democratic party has become really really good at making unenthusiastic voters vote now they're really testing that this time because he is going to demoralize voters to such an extent that I don't know if that plan will work but if Trump Acts enough crazy and they're able to use their ballot harvesting and all those tactics to get unenthusiastic voters out in the numbers that they need to he has a point now that doesn't mean he's doing the job well but I'm just saying I understand where he's coming from on that front and that's where by the way the Congressional Black Caucus is coming from who is standing fairly strong behind him uh and if they continue to do that that is a big political piece of this puzzle I agree with you and I think that the base of his coalition is going to stay with him but I think the big question mark is everybody else the independence the people like you and me and think you said they they are gambling I mean this is like Russian Roulette gambling well and they're they're also already looking at erosion and have been for a year in non-white voters and now in young voters some polls are showing uh but the non-white voters in particular dropping off in not great numbers men yes and Hispanics a lot of those voters will the term is come home to the party right if they're used to voting for the party but some of them won't some of them will sit home I'm going to say something I was at Fourth of July in Sedona with my friends uh my friend Sarah is married to a Mexican man named Bobby I love him I asked Bobby why he hates Democrats and he said Latin X is not a thing and they have misund Democrats have misunderstood how religious we are how family oriented we are and we don't want that changed and how patriotic we are which I just thought like first of all you you should I should film this and put this on my Instagram because that's exactly it I do think that this will also make a difference with all voters including Hispanic voters because people just don't like being lied to in general I do think that's a problem and they're going to keep trying to lie to them that's it's going to it's going to be months and months of that because again conversation is Biden the conversation is not Trump right now what happens to the deflectors the positive America people the by the way what day is it when Michael Moore chener from The Young Turks the P Safe America Bros and you and I all have the same take like it's wild that we're all saying thing no it's like the Horseshoe theory of like life is just so wild right now that sometimes but we but I'm getting attacked like I mean intensely on social media and social media isn't real but whatever by you know a swath of people including Billy Baldwin which apparently he is in fact alive I thought he had died so well done on still existing and having your heart pumping didn't know that till you tweeted at me but I I didn't know like that you can't say that Biden's sick you can't say that it's against the law well yeah it's it's so odd because obviously now we can say it but it it this is the problem again with like Elite Conformity they're all like overeducated but strategically ignorant right like oh no I I have like three phds but I'm going to just ignore that this very obvious thing is happening in front of my eyeballs and regular voters don't do that yeah they're not they're not doing that to themselves they're seeing what's in front of their eyes anything else you want to add I mean again this is kind of a hard conversation this is a weird moment I'm so glad you're here though because you're giving very measured analysis but no is there anything like for because we have like six weeks until the end of summer things always get weird politically in summer in general it's getting weirder anything you want you think is going to happen anything to make people feel better or feel worse I mean again I'm I'm just sort of like throwing spaghetti at the wall hard let me one give a little bit of a benefit of Doubt to the people who didn't want to talk about Biden's State I experienced some of this as well where it feels impolite it feels over a line to talk about this but it just is reality it's actually pretty important because the president needs to be able to do this very important job so even though it was tough to talk about I was mentioning it in what I attempted to make polite and appropriate uh ways and you don't have to like dump on him just to point out what's happening um so I think there was some of that at play talking about mortality is tough facing up to this is tough that's part of what the Biden family is having to do which is very hard um so there's that like I'll just like shade my trash talking of media and everybody else just a tin tiny bit but we need to talk about that because it's a very important moment um headed forward honestly I'm I'm looking forward to hoping for a semi normi RNC it'd be nice to see a party do their giant party in a normal way we had we didn't have it in 2020 uh obviously there's a potential for weirdness with Trump but maybe he'll pick somebody normal and he'll be restrained and we'll do the thing we can always hope just have Greenwood Sing Proud of be an American and drop the balloons just do that and then it's over seriously just say how much you love America that's enough that's all you and I love him and he sings that song well but like that is the key that's the key to Trump winning by the way is just point at Le Greenwood Point at like you love America I love America uh here's how your life was better back then here are the three policies I'll deal with immigration economy border what you know crime levels move on here's my super normal running meate and move on yeah yeah I agree I voters are crying out for I just feel like I don't know they can do it yeah I don't know either I think it you know but I'm trying to be positive for the people I don't know what they're doing over there but good job Susie wild who his campaign manager who weirdly her ex-husband was one of my dad's campaign managers and if you see her she looks like a nice little old lady from the south wearing Milly politzer the last person you would think is just a dragon controlling the most powerful one of the most powerful people on the planet and I think she is like stay the in line I'm telling you what to do do you want to be president or not and I think what a little gossip I've been told is that he's very uh cognizant of his mortality that this is it this is the last time to run doing better than Biden on that front yes that like you are almost 80 as well and that you will this is it and do you want it or not and I think as much of a you know impulsive crazy person as he probably still is and still is I mean I give it credit to her I really do and Chris leita apparently is quite the his his campaign other campaign managers apparently they're they're just gangsters from what I it's remarkable uh I I've never seen it go on for this long before uh is it helpful by the way that uh that they had the golf argument because maybe Susie wild was like you need to go practice golf just to make sure that you beat him really handily when when the time comes and you guys golf yes you got it so he's out there practicing yeah but no I it's doing him a ton of of good and if he picks somebody normal if he picks a burgham or governor burgham of North Dakota or he picks a Rubio think JD Vance is not he's not my cup of tea policy wise but I don't think he's terribly off-putting to a bunch of people um but who knows he could come out of left field with whatever he could always destroy it I mean this this Trump we're talking about he can always there can always be a moment where he's you know will say something just absolutely insane and hideous and you know whatever saying that like attacking gold star families that just nukes him but I think my instinct and I please tell me if you're feel differently M K that this is really far gone for Biden right now that I mean it's going to take a lot of cleanup and I don't even know how possible it is because you're talking about you're not talking about an error that he made or a sex scandal or a SC this isn't the this isn't the like grab him in the blank tape you're talking about age nature comes from us all you can't change it yeah I don't know how you spin he's old as tell and his brain is not functioning the way it should be and I think the leaks that are coming out right now about him needing a nap every day and being only functional from 10:00 a.m. to 4 in the afternoon is just the spin is bad it's it's t it's poison even the most other than like the most most most Progressive people I know uh most independent voters I know and most Center left center right people I mean look I hate to say this but they're going to pull for Trump because they're more scared of again I guess whoopy Goldberg thinks it's okay for him to defecate on himself in repu they're patriotic people who do not think that would be a good image for the greatest country with the most robust military in the world I'm with you I think it's I've been looking at the Nevada numbers for months and they're like in double digits for Trump ahead and that that is a working class uh higher minority population state it is exactly the kind of state that Democrats used to win and the problem for Biden is that before the debate he was already losing one of the reasons we're seeing the freak out this high is that Republic a republican candidate has hasn't been ahead in July since 2004 so this is a new feeling for a lot of people who are aligned with the Biden campaign and uh yeah I I I don't know how he changes the dynamic the Nevada thing entertains me too because one of Trump's Platforms in Nevada is that he won't tax tips so obviously for people who work in the service industry or the gambling industry that would make them a lot of money and that's where again they're being very clever no he has a he also just has a good sometimes he has very bad instincts just like verbally but sometimes he has really good instincts about like that's the thing that we'll speak to people yeah and he's right yeah I just I think that the Democrats have really screwed themselves with working-class Americans General up to this point and then I think respectfully because Republicans live in a bubble sometimes too we we certain I'm not saying we don't obviously this why it's so important to have people in your life that will keep it real and tell you different sides but I think Democrats are coddled by the media and and quite frankly they're spoiled brats and I'm talking about Elite people running the Democrat Party I'm not talking about voters and I think it has never occurred to them that Trump could get reelected because they candidate like they're like [ __ ] your pants and we're still better than you and they're like you said the American public is just not going to buy that and they've got to come up with better messaging than that and I think that they've been coddled by a media for a really long time and that this is coming as a great shock but like you said for anyone that's paid any attention at all this is what what did it for me was uh New Year's Eve with Ryan Crest when he couldn't answer Ryan Crest properly and then not doing a famously tough interview Ryan C no and all he asked him was how are you doing like how was your how's your year doing and then I'm not doing the Super Bowl uh the Super Bowl was a red flag because again if you don't trust him that's a great o nope I think he's the first president to pass ever like in I mean I'm happy because I don't love politics with my Super Bowl but it is an obvious win for any president to just go and do a quick sit down and uh he watching George Stephanopoulos too I felt like George Stephanopoulos just looks so uncomfortable and I actually felt compassionate for him having to do that interview and when someone like George Stephanopoulos is like you know he's literally a former Democrat operative when someone like him is like the look on his face is like what the hell is happening we're in real Uncharted Territory anything else the DNC cuz that's going to be the end of summer anything else in general uh I think TR if I have to make predictions Biden has a significant cognitive issue in front of a camera between now and DNC I think I think that's likely to happen I think we're gonna see many of the defectors that you were asking about uh get back in line and there's a model for it Paul Krugman today was saying look I said what I needed to say he's you know I it was it was hard I hated it but now I'm not going to continue sniping at him that's the I'm sorry dear leader I got out of ly we're gonna make the turn um and everybody's gonna be lying to your face again I saw this picture and it was like you know that picture of that North Korean news anchor the lady there's like a picture that goes around and they're
