the ultimate question is how much do nfl players make so i'm gonna take myself as an example i got drafted in the 74 pick of the 2020 nfl draft so i was fortunate to make it like a good amount of money not not good money but like you know i'm saying hello some so my signing bonus was around a million dollars public information you can look it up on google and all that stuff out of that million dollar signing bonus 47 goes to tax so you got 37 for federal then you got state tax in virginia again you got fica medi uh medical so out of that million dollar i got five thirty five hundred and thirty thousand dollars left after that your agent is gonna give you a call and say hey i need my three percent so first rounders gotta give one percent back to the agency second round there's two percent third round pick three percent i had to give back three percent so we're down another thirty thousand then after that season starts you know you make the rookie uh minimum base salary which is 660 this year take another 47 off you know because you got to get taxed and then now you got a new thing called a 401k you can contribute up to i think 19 to 20 000 dollars for your retirement plan with the 401k i decided to do them actually i'm saying i'm thinking about my future so that's another 1920 racks going from your salary you cover up the nfl logo alter the uniform i want to wear some custom cleats thousand dollar fine and then after all that at the end of the year off your salary your agent gives you another call and say i need my three percent so after you pay your taxes from that base salary of 660 you have about 350 and then you got the three percent from the agent that's 20 racks gone so you're at 3 30 you know what i'm saying then you think you're good you're going to the offseason you're saying about it go somewhere warm training all that stuff tax season comes around about 20 30 depending on who you have as an accountant it could be 30 racks going again so on the bright side though is you can make up a lot of that money by doing marketing deals just be marketable be active on social media have endorsement deal with nike adidas puma under armour such and such and you can make up a lot of that money so
